Jhawk Posted November 19, 2009 Posted November 19, 2009 I'm a big fan of Mystic Variations this is great remix Quote
halc Posted November 19, 2009 Posted November 19, 2009 a wonderful way to start my morning. thank you! Quote
OceansAndrew Posted November 19, 2009 Posted November 19, 2009 I agree with just about every choice made on this- the original melody is so good that it's best to super-embellish it while keeping it mostly intact. Great attention to detail here, some really excellent ideas, all packed together with a great groove, and an excellent source. Fantastic, I love it. Quote
audio fidelity Posted November 19, 2009 Posted November 19, 2009 AhMAZING - great work sebastian! - i'm def your biggest fan +1 for mega buster battle in the middle Quote
ZealPath Posted November 20, 2009 Posted November 20, 2009 oh hey I still have the WIP for this one, but who needs it now! Nice work, what variation there is from the source works well, and the source is still present enough to not be totally alienated. The distorted Mega Man sound-effects were a really nice touch, Mega Man fans won't want to miss this one! Quote
shox3 Posted November 20, 2009 Posted November 20, 2009 I've never heard the source before, but that was outta sight Quote
avaris Posted November 20, 2009 Posted November 20, 2009 Nice one dude! This is one of my favorite tracks from you, prefer your SD3 one the most. Favorite part of this piece is that on repeat you hear something new every time. Quote
Igami Posted November 20, 2009 Posted November 20, 2009 Very bouncy and active. For some reason the drumline kind of reminded me of Feel Good Inc. at the beginning...don't know why really *scratches head*. The "retro solo" (I guess you could call it that) near the end was some stellar stuff. Excellent job Quote
Dafydd Posted November 20, 2009 Posted November 20, 2009 Up until 0:25 it reminds a lot more of the "Control" level in GoldenEye 007 than the source, which is interesting. The synthwork here is incredibly elaborate, but I feel the rhythms that make the original so catchy are somehow lost here. That said, it's still an incredible mix! Quote
DragonAvenger Posted November 21, 2009 Posted November 21, 2009 Very catchy and fun to listen to. The attention to detail really brings this to life, and this is something I'll be jamming to for a while. I love when chip stuff can sound this awesome. Quote
MechaFone Posted November 21, 2009 Posted November 21, 2009 Among many series remixed here, I dearly covet the Mega Man series. Snake Man is definitely an awesome source in itself, and this remix makes for a curiously awesome song. Don't miss this one! Quote
Monobrow Posted November 21, 2009 Posted November 21, 2009 Radical as hell, Sebastian! As always, totally enjoy your works! Quote
Bahamut Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 This is a nice meld of chiptune with everything else, although the strings sound kinda fake to me - is it just me? Otherwise, I like it - it doesn't set out to be ambitious, but a mellow upbeat track driven by the drums/beats. Quote
jintoreedwine Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 This mix is really sweet. I love how it still sounds like the ye-old 8-bit. Your take on the source is really great, too. I enjoyed the section from 2:13 to 2:26 and then the great transition to that nice slow build-up to where you go back to the main theme. Excellent! Quote
SoulinEther Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 So catchy. I eagerly await 2:30 every time I listen to this remix (alright, so I've had it on repeat for the past few days). It's sort of a parallel to the transition to the second half of Fallen Dragoon where cello and chip are in unison or whatever - I love both transitions, and probably for the emotions brought about by strings. everything seems so laboriously and lovingly put into this.. even the sfx added. all of it is excellent. Quote
Gollgagh Posted November 27, 2009 Posted November 27, 2009 although the strings sound kinda fake to me - is it just me? as a string player they don't sound even remotely real but I'm not sure they're meant to, either anyway this is one helluva mix <3 <3 <3 <3 out of <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 Quote
Emunator Posted December 2, 2009 Posted December 2, 2009 This mix feels a lot more aggressive than the FFIV mixes that I've recently come to love, which is a nice change for you. It hearkens back to some of your older mixes. The really powerful snare adds a lot to that effect. Not my favorite from AeroZ (need moar cello plz!) but still a solid effort and a nice change of pace from his most recent FFIV songs. Quote
Martin Penwald Posted December 2, 2009 Posted December 2, 2009 Staying close to the original melody while using "modern" samples turns this into what I like to call "updated chiptune". The soundeffects just add to this. Awesome. Quote
ella guro Posted December 2, 2009 Posted December 2, 2009 RETRO. Those sounds are so satisfying to me. The FX and modulation and all that crap are really nice, and tastefully done. There are places where I feel like the arrangement could have gone to grander places cause of the epic source (cuz I love MM3!). This mix is more about being a sort of RET ROW groove where every chippy sound gets its super modulated say, and that's more important here than building on or emphasizing some of the melodic ideas in the source to greater heights. I would've liked it if he did more of the latter but it's AeroZ's mix, not mine, and he does his thing really well. KeWL STUFF! Quote
Triad Orion Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 Fun, funky, and really just true to the original. Love the chiptune-retro route you went with here. Normally the sound effects from the game being added in end up being obtrusive, but you blended them here very well so it's more amusing rather than annoying. Which is good. I enjoyed this piece quite a bit. Thanks for making it! Quote
42 Posted December 16, 2009 Posted December 16, 2009 I really like the feel of this mix; it has a down low, streamlined, speedy, Mission Impossible techno beat to it. That plus the chip tune feel makes for an interesting listen to. I also like how this is highly melody driven, yet manages to pass it around, tinker with it, and keep it flowing differently. This is a really good mix; I totally recommend it. Quote
EvilGenius187 Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 Damn son, what can I say. Perfect. I got this on repeat all the time. Quote
