tidus9605605
Hey I'm new to the site forum-wise but I've been a huge fan of OCR ever since a friend told me about it quite some time ago. I'm in the Army and this probably seems like a strange request from a soldier but I'm looking for some good songs for my wakeup alarm. I could never stand the normal beeper alarms and have always used my iPhone songs to wake-up but the same ones are getting very old, very fast. I'm just asking for some recommendations if possible to some nice songs that just make you wanna get up and be motivated if it is possible to be motivated at 5AM lol. Bahamut
I personally use Iron Maiden - Wasted Years for my wakeup alarm.

Cyril the Wolf
I personally don't wake up to songs. But if I did I would totally wake up to why? It hits hard, has a great driving riff, then after the verse it goes into a great uplifting chorus.
ifirit
There was an old thread like this a LOOOOOOOOOOONG time ago, in which I recommended DJ Pretzel's "dubnofantasyaloneman" from Final Fantasy IX. I still recommend it now as it continues to remind me of morning sunshine.
Schwaltzvald
Generally anything beyond the norm or at least mainstream as well as nostalgic manages .

Less Ashamed Of Self
I actually found a few years back that the Kirby's Canvas Curse Soundtrack is perfect for this. -Mixed heavy on the highs makes it impossible to ignore -Catchy upbeat percussion means it inspires energy -Hard to be in a bad mood with kirby ANYTHING; he should be the mascot for prozac
kitty
I don't wake up to songs because I begin to hate them. I used to rick roll myself to wake up but that just made me very bitter so I just use my phone on vibrate.

tidus9605605
Appreciate the songs but I should've been more specific. I'm looking for a good OCR to wake up too. As Schwaltzvald said, I really like that feeling of nostalgia, it gets me up and moving lol. So far I've been listning to http://ocremix.org/remix/OCR01357/ but I think it's starting to have a reverse effect lol.
Arcana
If you can, take any song that you like, and open up an audio editor like Audacity. Set it up so that it crescendos to maximum volume over five or ten seconds. What you get then is instead of a HUGE JOLT that disturbs you, you get a feeling that you are being lifted out of sleep. As for a track suggestion: GrayLightning: http://ocremix.org/remix/OCR01288/

True. Or find a song that already does that (like Sacratus Bellator does, yes). Here are a few with building lead-ins that still pack a punch... OverClocked Spot: http://ocremix.org/remix/OCR01648/ Devastation's Doorway: http://ocremix.org/remix/OCR01611/ Agony Of Obscuration: http://ocremix.org/remix/OCR01179/ Full Of Courage: http://ocremix.org/remix/OCR02012/ Yellow Valkyrie: http://ocremix.org/remix/OCR01661/ Mark Of The Beatsmith: http://ocremix.org/remix/OCR01626/ Blue Lightning (kindofnotreally has a lead-in): http://ocremix.org/remix/OCR00464/ Electric Clouds (packs a groove, not a punch): http://ocremix.org/remix/OCR01092/ Nothing But A Pile Of Dance Moves (packs 'e' glowsticks): http://ocremix.org/remix/OCR01576/ Course, if you're like me and would rather jolt yourself awake, there's always... Wanderer On The Offensive: http://ocremix.org/remix/OCR01657/ Fight For Our Future: http://ocremix.org/remix/OCR01826/ Voices Broken: http://ocremix.org/remix/OCR01467/ El Lagarto: http://ocremix.org/remix/OCR01793/ Overflow: http://ocremix.org/remix/OCR01900/ Battle Rocks: http://ocremix.org/remix/OCR00970/ Bahahaha... Battle Rocks would be cruel. As an aside, since you like Under A New Moon, you might want to check out Fatty Acid's Double Tall Chrono Latte: http://chronofan.com/Black/VGM/Fatty_Acid_-_Double_Tall_Chrono_Latte(Chrono_Cross).mp3. Not a wake-up suggestion, just a good remix that was never submitted.

Brandon Strader
For a whole semester in college, I woke up to Battle Against Time by Wintersun. Great song, I still like listening to it.

Yeah, 3 years later and a snes song that was one of my favourites actually made me a little paranoid of things that sound like the beginning. tidus9605605
Damn, I appreciate the songs everyone, after I get off work today I'll definetly be going through them and picking some out.
Zergonaleash
Royksopp - Happy up Here ( ) is like my perfect wake-up song. Duuuuuuuuuude!!!!! I never thought about that, but you're totally right! Arcana
Yeah, 3 years later and a snes song that was one of my favourites actually made me a little paranoid of things that sound like the beginning. My iPod for a while was set to play a song at random from my playlist. I have a particular MP3 that I use as my ring tone. So when that song played on my alarm I was all like "OH MY GOD MY PHONE" and then looked around for it for about a minute before realising that it was not my phone at all. /cool story bro
SynthesizedStampede
Wanderer On The Offensive: http://ocremix.org/remix/OCR01657/ I used that as my alarm for a few months. Unfortunately, as much as I loved the song, in those few months hearing it as my "I don't want to get up but I'm going to" tone really got to me psychologically. Soon the song was connected to forcing myself to get up in the morning and putting me in a bad mood when I heard it. That whole, "you get sick of your alarm tone" definitely applies to me. In the same light, however, I suppose you can say I've used a lot of the upbeat, jolty stuff such as: "Catapult" ~ Beatdrop "Wicked Six" ~ Sixto Sounds "Scrambled Eggman" ~ BrainCells, Snappleman "Strike of the Devil's Axes" ~ CarboHydroM, LuIzA Among other video game songs such as the guitar version of "The True Mirror" from Baten Kaitos. In retrospect, the nature of those songs probably fueled my grumpiness when I woke up. Maybe I should try and stick with more gradual approaches...
