Cinderwild
Pretty simple. What game has some of the strangest (and possibly good?) music you have heard? It can be anything from just a really unusual choice for the game or genre, or have a really unique sound you haven't heard in other games before or since. My pick would be Pac-Man 2: The New Adventures. I don't think I've ever heard another game that had music quite like it.
Matt E. Waldman
I'll hafta look through the games I've played to properly contribute here. I'll come back with tons of links. Though, I definitely have to agree with Pac-Man 2! Had the game as a kid, and the music is still very familiar to me, especially the city music later in the game:

Matt E. Waldman
Fantastic. Absolutely fantastic. Okay, here are my contributions: Bio-Hazard Battle ( Stage 1 & 8 ): This game's music is certainly unlike anything I've heard, considering the ambient/moody style and when it came out. That title screen music from Gameboy Camera(and pretty much everything else in that game): More to come!
Sockpuppet
I haven't actually played this, but:
Enetirnel
Just posting this one as it's one of my favorites and I haven't really heard many video games have music in the same/similar manner as Capcom's Demento/Haunting Ground. =http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sRM-JTBVTn4]Demento OST - Something Lacking. Regardless of how many times I listen to the soundtrack, I still notice more things about it. What I love, is that the majority of songs by Seiko Kobuchi on it were mainly made out of dialogue by the voice actors manipulated. Considering how the game is, it got quite a few people. But the soundtrack is beautiful, especially Endless・・・DEMENTO and Endless Zero.

lazygecko
The Pac-Man 2 music isn't that different from Super Mario World or Super Mario Land 2 when you think about it.

SwordBreaker
The whole soundtrack of Mario Strikers Charged for Wii. Insanely addictive and abnormally high production values for a Mario Sports game. The composers are relatively unknown in the gaming industry, but they experiment with a lot of genres in the game, leaning toward rock. The themes of the characters alone are immensely unique, but there are a lot of stand-out tracks playing in the arenas themselves, most notably this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8HvqGlz7_Iw I pick this stadium just for its music. Here are some other cool tracks: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RCgafcp2jAQ&feature=related Somebody from OCR really, really, really needs to remix one of these tracks! FireSlash
For it's time, Quake was somewhat oddball music wise. At least in my opinion. Most FPS games were going for upbeat, Quake chose Trent Reznor's special blend of atmospheric.
Unstable Hamster
Gotta say the soundtrack to Sonic CD was different, I didn't expect this kind of music from sonic back in the day, also the intro was hella tight. I'm not sure on this, but doesn't japan have a different soundtrack than the US version? Also, anything earthbound. Anything. That's all I got for now, I may come up with more games later. Wait just did: Knuckles Chaotix k done. Edit: Eff me, been on a super sonic hankerin. This Sonic Rush song always made me laugh but I liked it. Hearing "Too black, Too Strong" while flying through space when I first played this made me think "Yep that space out there is pretty black." JCvgluvr
All of this talk, but no mention of Katamari Damacy? I think almost any of those songs could qualify, as could the entire game as a whole, for being unique. But, in particular, I'll suggest this one:
XVWAWA
The Neverhood and/or SkullMonkeys. yes!: also, i liked the country radio in the first gta. it had one song, covered for by the announcer saying "well that was so good i think i'll play it again" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lNByQsKlRew and gta2 had a christian radio station, this was the funniest song on it: "jesus my savior, my favorite flavor" that's all i can really think of now... ocre
This Sonic Rush song always made me laugh but I liked it. I'd love to hear that song arranged with better instruments/vocals. Also want to say I love the Pac Man 2 music as well. Too bad not much of the superior SNES version is hosted on youtube.
Unstable Hamster
I'd love to hear that song arranged with better instruments/vocals. Actually they did. And to boot, I found it with a terrible fan made tribute of Star Wars with the song. =) Edit: Whoops forgot the link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y1-pMJ9EuRo&feature=fvwrel Edit 2: Edit strikes back: YES! Just remembered animal crossing radio! Gotta say, my friend and I believe this to be the best song ever.
Less Ashamed Of Self
Man, this thread delivers. Big fan of that mock Christian song, it's stupid catchy. That will be in my head for a while. It really needs a remix. But I've got a solid submission. Thread over.
XVWAWA
earthworm jim's "what the heck?" from :34 on is elevator music with random screams. loved that as a kid: and the "andy asteroids" level - while banjo music may be befitting of a chase, not so much one in a wormhole in space:

Dr.Flintlock
Just two from me. Some of the ones before are pretty zany though. First is from Brave Fencer Musashi, which when you got to the part where this little number played, was rather random in context: And then of course there's Klonoa 2 on the PS2.... munchi
lmao @ DAYTOOOONAAAAAAAAA!! urprised no one has mentioned Plok. I love the music in that game, but some of it was unnecessarily epic and other were just plain weird. (like have the ) And others still we cute and happy...when you were in a and here's a link to the beach level cuz it's true one of the most epic video game songs EVAR (and unique due to a very odd ball time signature): *I'm pretty sure the time signature to the beach level is 7/8 then a sudden change to 4/4 then a sweet ass guitar solo then 7/8 again. And I'm pretty sure I've never heard another vg song with a 7/8 time signature.
