Nabeel Ansari Posted March 10, 2012 Posted March 10, 2012 http://www.drdrum.com/ No need to learn music theory or get an expensive studio. Come on, this is 2012. Seriously? You should be able to create sick badass beats in minutes with no experience that can win you Grammy awards! Quote
AngelCityOutlaw Posted March 10, 2012 Posted March 10, 2012 and here I thought the killer studio chops joke had died. Quote
Yami Posted March 10, 2012 Posted March 10, 2012 and here I thought the killer studio chops joke had died. I don't think this joke will ever die on OCR Quote

Meteo Xavier Posted March 10, 2012 Posted March 10, 2012 I thought the Killer Studio Chops thing did die... Also, I'm going to avoid making the same jokes everyone else is making and say what no one else is saying - the drum samples are actually not too bad at all. I'm sure you could also find just as good drum samples for the same price elsewhere, but still, if you can get past the horrible ad campaign they're doing, you might actually get a pretty decent product. Anyone feel like volunteering to see if it really is a joke or not? Quote
Gario Posted March 10, 2012 Posted March 10, 2012 I honestly would give it an honest shot, but I don't have 39$. Their advertisement methods are hilarious (holy crap that chart is truly amazing), but I'm not entirely convinced that their product is that horrible, given the price their selling it at. It looks pretty good for a novice at that price range, actually. Quote
Nabeel Ansari Posted March 10, 2012 Author Posted March 10, 2012 Yeah, it's great because it doesn't have a mixer that assumes you've been mixing for years! But what it does have is a mixer! Quote
Dissidia Posted March 11, 2012 Posted March 11, 2012 How bad can it be? I would have bought it maybe 5 years ago, but it wasn't 2012... Quote
Xenon Odyssey Posted March 11, 2012 Posted March 11, 2012 It makes me sad that this website is set up like all of these different basketball program sites that my little brother is swindled into thinking will really help him 'enhance his jumps' and 'dunk like the pros,' and then beg my parents to purchase for him since he's far too lazy to, you know, actually practice like he needs to. But then again, if the demographic they are advertising to includes people who don't need to 'learn boring music theory' and care about become the next 'top-billin' Grammy winner, bangin' out fresh beats,' maybe this is the new job market: capitalizing on stupid people. "Want to use your own samples? No Biggie!" Quote
liquid wind Posted March 11, 2012 Posted March 11, 2012 On some level all marketing is based on exploiting peoples stupidity, nothing new there. Only $39 too! Funny thing is that modplug and psycle(free) destroy this thing judging by their own feature comparison. Quote

DusK Posted March 11, 2012 Posted March 11, 2012 Every WAV I've ever exported is a lie. A damn lie. Only Dr Drum does it. My whole world has been turned upside down. I need a minute. Quote

Nabeel Ansari Posted March 11, 2012 Author Posted March 11, 2012 The drum samples sound decent from the vids. Think I'm just gonna "borrow" this thing off the internet, "borrow" the samples and then import everything to FL Studio. Love me some drum samples. Quote
Meteo Xavier Posted March 11, 2012 Posted March 11, 2012 Holy shit, did you see the Youtube number on that video? 500,000 in a couple days. I guess we weren't the only ones who thought it was a joke... ...ohhh, now the ad campaign is making sense to me... Quote
Dj Mokram Posted March 11, 2012 Posted March 11, 2012 ITT laying down a beat while secluded in a dark room lit only by the faint glow of a computer screen makes you irresistible. As it stands, there's enough material on their product page to write a solid one man show. Quote

Likely they used one of those shady services that sell Facebook and Youtube likes from dummy/hijacked accounts. Quote
