Final Fantasy VII 'Seven Degrees of Judgment'

I'm going to have to say that my final 'Judgment' for this mix is going to have to be that this one is just not for me. The snare panned to the left is much too loud, to the point of being obnoxious. While I really like the guitar, its reverb has been way over done. Most of the other instruments aren't loud enough to tell if I like them or not, and they more or less sound like a mess all clumped together. Some good stuff here that really shows promise, but maybe next time.

I really like this one. Very atmospheric! I also noticed that the lead guitar at 3:03 sounds very much like a theme from Star Wars Episode II. Don't remember that part from the original... and this remix was made before the movie came out anyway.... hmmm I wonder if John Williams has been at OCReMix for inspiration? ;)

I wonder..The beat is good and all but it's just too loud,I poped an eardrum,I guess in a "Jugement" I'd call it a good remix with a good remixer,However,It needs a bit more techno to it and quiet it down.

Could be so much more. This reminds me of my friends' band as well as many other garage bands - every amp's volume cranked all the way up, every instrument pounded on to the max. The wall of sound crushes out any recognizable melody, and it could be so much more.

In painting, it is necessary to show contrast between elements to give full effect. For example, if everything in a painting is dark, technically it's dark but people won't see it that way, they'll just squint their eyes at it. However, if you add in some bright splashes or highlights, the dark is emphasized and *then* people say "wow that's dark stuff over there". The same could be said of music.

a) turn your speakers down silly

B) we have so much techno already, let him have his grunginess :)

the grunge was aweseme...it's really good to hear someone stray from the techno mainstream. and i love the whole guitars...i play electric guitar and loved the way that sounded...but the guitar was the melody line and it was too difficult to hear. and there was no harmony guitar...if there were a harmony guitar and the melody guitar together WITH the harmony were leveled properly and maybe even EQ'd differently, so the lead tones would be more easily heard, it woud be near perfect :lol:8)

Blindstrike mentioned that the main meldoy was hard to hear, but I found it excellent. There were some points where there was a bit too much noise, but that's no biggy. Gives the song a dark, twisted atmosphere, which I found to be quite... intriguing. I'd have to say this will be the song needed in the background whenever I'm writing twisted darkness or the evil bad guy's layer. ^^;; In short, it's made my insperation playlist.

Once again, the dark atmosphere is excellent. Not to sound like my teacher or anything, but continued efforts will make your future remixes as enjoyable as this one. Great work! ^_~

I don´t think this remix is "dark", the guitars are heavy, but they aren´t dark. Sounds like I´m listening to the radio and there are something in the way of the waves that gives the music that scratchy sound. This is what this mix makes me think of, but the guitars in the back that gives this effect. I recognized the melody, the electric basses(or guitars, whtever) played it, and I thinked that this was real OK. They remixed this track after their ideas, and they succeded to do something new. Interesting.

Cool guitarsolo near the end.

Dangit...you ruined a great, emotional song that really grew on me once I got used to it. Dislike the snares and the atmosphere in general, and the instruments didn't do it for me, even in the parts that weren't all loud and hazy. C-

Personally, I think it sounds like something you would find on the Unreal Tournament 2004 soundtrack.

This is not a bad thing though. I like it.

This wasn't my favorite of the Remixes of FFVII, but it wasn't terrible. You just tried too hard to get the "Dark" sound, and it shows. (Or, hears? Anywho...) Little less reverb, and let the melody through.

Yeah....... pretty much this ^

Way too much industrial-ness (almost too close to the border of white noise imo)and not nearly enough melody makes all of this seem very "blaaaahh...".

I guess one good thing about it is it does get tamer towards the end.

Eh... move along, nothing much to see here.

Yo can I just say that while some of the production hasn't aged well (mainly the cymbal hard panned in the left) this arrangement, the second half especially, still holds up so well. The drums are perfectly repetitive and that the guitars DON'T solo has me still bumping this track as cleaning my kitchen music after all these years. Still my fave FFVII ReMix.
