BardicKnowledge
I highly recommend checking out Darksiders II -- Emily Reese over at MPR's Top Score really enjoyed it, and for good reason, as the soundtrack is vastly improved over the original game. firedude750
Can't get much more recent than both Halo 4 and Assassin's Creed III. Both have beautiful orchestral scores, and really are just so freaking cool.
Mirby
Professor Layton's always had good music, and the recent Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask is no exception.
Cerrax
The Killzone series has amazing music, especially the third (and most recent) installment. Where most games go for moody, heightened tension a la Inception or other recent blockbuster movies, Killzone is just balls-to-the-wall brass and timpani like a super-evil Star Wars score. Tensei
Dark Souls has a deliberately sparse soundtrack (music only plays during boss fights and a few particular areas) and a heavy emphasis on . Then you make it to the final boss fight and plays.
Melbu Frahma
*quasi-bump* Came back in the thread to say that I recently got FTL on Steam, and (aside from being an all-around good game anyway) the music is really good. It's on the chippy-ish side, which kind of surprised me for a space game, but it made sense once I started playing. I feel like it does a good job of capturing the empty, lonely feel of running from a rebellion through sectors of space where it seems like EVERYONE wants to kill you. I could've sworn someone else mentioned it earlier in the thread, too.

Flexstyle
Has Borderlands 2 been mentioned yet? I listen to that soundtrack while reading, a lot. Makes a great backdrop for fantasy and sci-fi novels. Also, the new Devil May Cry soundtrack by Noisia and Combichrist. So intense.
Annie Felis
Ni no Kuni just came out, and I must say the soundtrack is awesome. Then again it's by Joe Hisaishi, so it's it's a given.
liquid wind
I'm pretty far behind on current gen games(just got a 360 a couple months ago), but Bastion is excellent as many people have said
ectogemia
Everything Virt has done over the past five years.Or ever. Omggddd, virt's music basically fueled the 10 hour drives to and from MAGFest. Best chip artist there is. And I've heard coda... edit: ok, maybe Shnabubula takes the cake... Modus
When I saw virt on stage at MAG, my first thought was "this guy is.. adorable. Why am I using that word?" virt is so charismatic and likeable I couldn't stand it. Then he started the music and it was the sickest opener I'd. Ever. Heard. Eino Keskitalo
, an excellent homebrew C64 game from last year has amazing tunage. It's also recently available for free as a download.--Eino

Mirby
Fire Emblem Awakening. You can't get much more recent than that (at the time of this post), and the music's pretty fantastic. Also Bravely Default.

Thalzon
Ni No Kuni has an awesome, fully-orchestrated soundtrack. There aren't an enormous number of songs (as an example, the first dungeon and the final dungeon have the same music) but they all sound wonderful. Esperado
Mirrors edge is a good example. DAT BOAT CHASE SONG. MMMMM. but really, it has a nice futuristic feel that helps really set the pace. on a similar vein, the soundtrack to inmomentum, is similarly futuristic and fun to listen to. I think it came with indiegamemusic bundle 3 or 4, for those who are familiar with that. im STILL sorting through all those albums... Esperado
the first bundle alone was like, what, 26 albums or something if you donated 10$ . Pure madness. now im just waiting for songs for the cure 2012...
liquid wind
Forgot about it in my earlier post because it's a mod I haven't played, but I love Neotokyo's soundtrack
WiFiSunset
This game had an amazing soundtrack. Super Monkey Ball Adventure (Kongri-la): . I couldn't believe how Orchestral and great this song sounded. It's one of my favorite songs from the game.
