HARMONY OF HEROES: A SUPER SMASH BROS FAN ARRANGEMENT ALBUM LAUNCHING IN 2014

Hey there OCR!

I am here to talk about our latest project, Harmony of Heroes. We are creating a fan-arrangement album based on the Super Smash Bros franchise. It is a diverse album covering Super Smash Bros (N64), Super Smash Bros Melee and Super Smash Bros Brawl in a variety of genres to suit a wide number of musical tastes. We are currently in the process of finding more musicians to help contribute to this project, which is already shaping up to be one of the most ambitious I have ever been involved in.

Our history

I have been involved in two previous projects that were focused on the Metroid franchise called Harmony of a Hunter and Harmony of a Hunter: 101% Run. The original Harmony of a Hunter was actually pitched on these very forums back in 2010 and with the support of OCRemix and musicians and various other communities and websites on the internet, we released a fitting musical tribute to mark the 25th Anniversary of the Metroid franchise which has been download and enjoyed by thousands of people and is still being discussed today. The response was so overwhelming positive that we received a follow-up called Harmony of a Hunter: 101% Run on the anniversary of Metroid Prime & Metroid Fusion's 10th anniversary that received a similar reception. Harmony of Heroes builds upon the success of our previous albums with a notable franchise, a greater number of musicians and content to work with and a much larger fan base.

The Team

Due to the scale of this project, I have required the assistance of a dedicated team who have been super helpful in giving feedback and support to musicians. Stephan Wells and Buoy were both involved in our previous album 101% Run, and are long time supporters from the Newgrounds community. Both of them have been a huge asset to the project so far. We also have Pyro Paper Planes who has been a long time supporter, involved both of our previous albums. We have recently had a new addition to the team, Rozen. He was previously involved with the Video Game Music Choir and has already provided an incredible arrangement of Final Destination for us, which has been performed by a 40 piece orchestra and choir. Their support and dedication to the project so far has been much appreciated.

Our objective

Super Smash Bros is a franchise that I have grown with and admire greatly. It was my first introduction to characters like Samus, and I have seen just how passionate and committed its fan base is, whether you play the games casually or professionally. It is a collection of everything that is great about Nintendo, and more! My aim for this album is to pay the greatest possible tribute to the music of Super Smash Bros and the series as a whole. I believe Harmony of Heroes offers that, and continue to do that with your support. This is where I am hoping you guys can help!

How to get involved

In an effort to progress forward, we are compiling a list of musicians to cover some of the remaining tracks on the album. We are looking for a range of musicians covering various genres and styles in an effort to make our album as diverse and appealing as possible. We need people who are committed, open to suggestions, able to work towards agreed deadlines and most importantly, responsive. Communication is very important to us, and we will be maintaining good contact with everyone involved and supporting with feedback and suggestions.

Harmony of Heroes is a non-profit album and is NOT an official Overclocked Remix album, but we value and appreciate the support and continued support of our albums and to the musicians involved. Anyone wishing to get involved should respond to this thread with an example of their work and their availability. We will make contact with those who are interested via private message here on OCR.

If you have any questions, feel free to shoot me a private message and I will respond as soon as I am able.

Darren

Totally interested and willing to contribute. Are there any styles in particular that you have in mind? I usually just do my own thing with my music, but I don't think that kind of stuff is what you're looking for :?. I'm definitely open to trying new things.

Fantastic! Do you have an example of your work? I noticed your Soundcloud account in your sig, is that where your current music is?

I'd love to offer my services as a vocalist! Baritone.

Awesome! Thanks for getting in touch. Do you have an example of your work that you can share with me?

So, the album is how much completed? What is the timetable people should be looking at? What tracks need to be done? What genres are you looking for? Seems like you're a bit light on specifics.

third. and just pm'd you, Darren1986. Actually have a track that is pretty close to already being done, so if it's for an open source (heh) that'd be great.

Dunno if you have anyone mastering this album yet, but I would be up for it if you don't have anyone already. Probably won't have time to actually write a track, but I can at least contribute that. Music examples on my website in my signature (not necessarily the mastering examples). Hear them how you will; that's why there's a whole bunch of examples. The Free ReMixes page has the largest variety you'll find on there, so if I were to suggest any page that best represents what kind of songs I've finalized before, that would be the one.

Yeah, that's where everything I make goes. Kinda barren ATM, but I'm working on that :?.

Not a problem, i've added it to my list of things to look at and i'll be in touch as soon as i'm able to! :)

Yes I am sorry for that, we do have a specific list of tracks and a rough idea of when we want them to be completed. Right now we are just looking for musicians who are interested, and to assess their quality. We will make contact with those who we like the sound of and then get into more details.

Yep. I'm wondering the same stuff. Especially the open tracks.

We have a specific list of tracks that are remaining, many have already been taken, this is one of our attempts to fill the remaining tracks.

I received your PM, thanks! Already responded :)

I would be interested in hearing what you are capable of. I shall take a look over your profile and get in touch if we think you can be of some help. Most likely i'll probably need to send you a PM with questions about it, but thanks! Really kind of you to offer!

As a fan of both Harmony of the Hunter albums, this excites me. :-D

With 300 tracks in the Brawl soundtrack alone, best of luck to you!

I'm curious, how many tracks from each series is going to be covered for this project? Is it going to be the same size as the other albums?

Right now everything is up in the air. As you can imagine with an album, tracks are taken, dropped, changed and scrapped all the time. But Smash Bros has a lot of content...A LOT.

Hey there, nice to see you around here again. :)

I hope people see this and offer to help you out. 'Fraid I'm still out of the running due to other obligations (both musically and irl), but I look forward to hearing what you come out with. Good luck, and anyone who sees this thread be sure to give Darren a hand, eh?

We will be discussing suitable musicians this weekend, but feel free to share anyway! We may have more to discuss after our chat. Much appreciated!

Hm, I really suck with computers. Since I'm going skiing for a week after this friday, I tried to record everything today. But the things didn't really go the way they were supposed to go. So I'll try to work things out when I'm back from my skitrip. I did record something that I could show so that it will be easier to discuss things. But it's only piano, in stead of a the accompanying flutes I had all written out but didn't work. There goes three days of epic flute solo practice... I can explain the rest in a private chat.

The album is now available to download! Thanks for the support!

If the website is a little slow, there are also torrents available. For more information, check out our Facebook page:

Downloaded it this past weekend and finally gone through the entire album. Have to say, this is another amazing album you (and a couple others) put together! I'm having a difficult time trying to pick favorites as everyone who contributed brought in their A game.

Your ability to manage a large group of people to produce such a large album is incredible. Whatever "Harmony of" you have in mind for future albums I will look forward to it.
