lazygecko Posted August 31, 2007 Posted August 31, 2007 August 31 marks the 12th anniversary of the franchise, and as a little treat you can now download the first game from the official site: http://www.commandandconquer.com/intel/default.aspx?id=61#NewsMain Quote
Majin GeoDooD Posted August 31, 2007 Posted August 31, 2007 Nifty.. I already own it for PC and PS1 though. Quote

Liontamer Posted September 1, 2007 Posted September 1, 2007 Cool stuff. Glad EA let it out there for $0. I blogged about it briefly. Great catch, Dan. You should get a shot at scoring one of the games. Quote
Smoke Posted September 1, 2007 Posted September 1, 2007 I'll stick to my C&C First Decade boxset. At least it doesn't require extra steps to get running on XP. Although it does demand a few huge patches and 7 serial numbers during installation. Quote

anthonium Posted September 1, 2007 Posted September 1, 2007 Awesome!!! I used to own this game but lost it years ago. I can't believe such an old game requires a 580mb ISO for each disc. This is gonna be a while but well worth the wait. Quote

The Coop Posted September 2, 2007 Posted September 2, 2007 Hope this isn't their way of "fixing" the problems in The First Decade set. Quote
Azure Prower Posted September 2, 2007 Posted September 2, 2007 The orginal C&C. Meh. Call me when Red Alert goes freeware. Haven't played that game for ages. Quote
I-n-j-i-n Posted September 2, 2007 Posted September 2, 2007 I'm a mechanical I'm a mechanical I'm a mechanical man. One of the most memorable soundtracks for me. For some reason, I don't care too much for the recent C&C games though they are all technically great. The first one just has a charm about it. Quote
I-n-j-i-n Posted September 3, 2007 Posted September 3, 2007 It was a great offer even when it cost $49. Quote
L.T.W. Posted September 3, 2007 Posted September 3, 2007 It was a great offer even when it cost $49. Indeed. That game was great on its time, and for me is as great as it ever was. For some reason I like this game better than C&C3 I don't know about anyone else, but I think the old C&C has something the other does not, I just cant explain it. Oh yeah and the music is just fantastic, something the C&C3 could really improve on. Quote
IckesTheSane Posted September 5, 2007 Posted September 5, 2007 They've got a present for us! As an aside, someone mentioned Pandora.com in another thread. Creating a station with the search of Frank Klepacki, the composer for the music of C&C1 and C&C:RA (and tons of other stuff) bring up pretty similar stuff. I haven't listened to it a lot yet, so I don't know if they actually have any of his music, but it's worth checking out. And I typed my post left-handed Quote
Rambo Posted September 5, 2007 Posted September 5, 2007 Man, this is awesome. I was gonna buy this if i ever saw it in stores again... so this is freaking great. !!! Thanks Gecko! Quote
