Undoubtedly the best games composer of all time! His music contributed so much to the atmosphere and emotion of Final Fantasy VII and VIII which are still up there as the best RPGs ever. We should also give credit to the fact that he produced such good tunes using the simple chips of the NES/SNES era, though it's great to hear them getting a full orchestral treatment due to their popularity. It's testament to how good his tunes are that hundreds of hours later, you'll still hum along to the classics whilst you play!

Sign me up!
 Uematsu got me started, OCremix kept me going, now I'm into all sorts of music that many people don't realize exists or that they pass over! This reminds me, I need to check for the next torrent of OC remixes! |

When I was reading the post on FB, a bunch of Distant Worlds music and FF tracks (mainly 8 for some reason) kept playing in my media player until I closed the window. It was awesome, since that music is epic.

Mr. Uematsu is the reason I started to appreciate video game music as much as I do. Since then, I've come to enjoy the work of many other composers, but his work will always stand out as being the first I saw as a video game -soundtrack-, and not merely something playing in the background of a video game.
