Didn't do too much PRC back in the day, I was more an ORC fella (wanted an excuse to have folk remix old originals I had on hand). I don't think I can help too much since from my time, the only tracks that aren't currently available of mine that I can grab are from ORC 114 & ORC 115 (I think I won 115 so there is no Gario 116). ORC 114 (Off the Rails To Infininty) A Willrock MIDI, iirc, you can ask him for the source, if he holds his MIDIs from 2008. ORC 115 (Invigorating Air) No idea whose source this was, I forgot the winner of the prior round (it wasn't me, lol) Sorry I can't be of more help than that, good luck on your hunt. EDIT: lol Bundleslang's list was big enough for me to miss the ORC tracks in there. Would be pleased as punch if I had a shot to hear Willrock's version of Innocent Evil again, it was a banger :)

I'm baffled there are not tons of remixes from this game on the site, the songs are all so catchy.
-
It's such a good song from a good game! Glad to know people still remix the OST from this game.

Deep-sampled high-quality VST instruments from 8Dio
Master Mi replied to Master Mi's topic in Music Composition & Production
Sophisticated drum kits from 8Dio ------------------------------------------------------------ I recently discovered three excellent, comprehensively sampled drum kit VSTis at 8Dio, where I also bought the Advanced Drum Series Zeus Kit, which had just dropped in price from just under 50 bucks to just under 20 bucks (so I paid just 40 dollars for four VSTis, i.e. the steel drum, harmonica, whistling VSTi and Zeus drum kit). The drum kits have up to 10 velocity layers and 10 round robins per drum element, enabling extremely realistic playing. ... To briefly introduce the three drum kits: 1) Advanced Drum Series Zeus Kit ----------------------------------------------------------- This is pretty much a true all-round drum kit that can be used for all kinds of music genres: - around 6 GB - over 38000 samples - less than 50 bucks https://8dio.com/products/zeus-drummer?variant=41309966434504 2) Advanced Drum Series Ragnarok Kit ------------------------------------------------------------------- As the name suggests, this is more of a drum kit that is particularly suited to heavier music genres such as metal: - around 7 GB - around 37000 samples - less than 50 bucks https://8dio.com/products/8dio-advanced-drum-series-ragnarok-kit-kontakt-vst-au-aax?variant=41309973381320 3) Advanced Drum Series Blackbird Kit ------------------------------------------------------------------- This rather large and heavy-sounding drum kit is probably aimed more at heavy metal musicians, hip hop producers or composers of epic film soundtracks: - around 7,5 GB - around 37500 samples - less than 50 bucks https://8dio.com/products/advanced-drum-series-blackbird-vst-au-aax-kontakt-instrument?variant=41309880942792 … That's it for now. In my next major post on this thread, I'll also show you how to use 8Dio instruments without the full version of Kontakt. -

Amazing! I can barely believe my ears. I love when talented Japanese artists participate in OCR, and this is just what I needed to hear to close off a rollercoaster of a year. Definitely anime opening (ending?) vibes here. Stickerbush keeps on finding ways to evolve and it never gets old, thanks to the creativity from people all over the world. -
It never got out of just the concept phase, but I had asked for series pages, so we definitely should have something like that, especially since we have series in the database. Problem is we need coders who are available, and we don't have those. :-D
-
It would be nice to tags for series, at least for the popular ones, as a quick way to get all the remixes of a series. We can get all the remixes for a game or a publisher or a composer, but not series. Want every Castlevania track? Castlevania tag! Want every Mega Man track? Mega Man tag! Etc. I suggest tag specifically as a mechanism instead of metadata like composer because not every game is part of a series. Makes sense to me to use a tag for metadata that could be considered optional.

Howdy, here's my track. The source is Kirby's Epic Yarn - Snowy Fields https://drive.google.com/file/d/1XhjH2RCEQ1ECXwpORlO01gn2Z5UIwJpx/view?usp=sharing There's a nonzero chance I'll send a tweaked version down the line but mentally it's good to get this off my plate by sending this verison.

opening xylophone doesn't really have any velocitization on it, so it's very mechanical initially. same feel for the conga, there's some repeated hits from that which feel machine-gun. the filtering to make it feel more underwater is a really clever touch, and the acoustic that fades in with the bells handling the arpeggio is a nice feel. there's definitely more in the right ear here, which is a little confusing. percussion comes back in for the transition at 1:49, and the feel moves towards reggae or island. the plectral instrument in the right ear here doesn't seem to have verb on it, so it's sticking out of the mix a bit among all these other very verby elements. and then we finally get the melody line at 2:30 - what patience! i love it. i do thing also that the lead needs more reverb as well, same reason as above. there's another deep drop and build - the sonar pings are inspired, and i really like the big bass hits that are so far away. really neat spacing here. guitars and drums come in at 4:00 for a pretty big build. the rhythm guitars that hit at 4:15 are too dry and loud, but i really like the idea. and then the lead comes in soon after, and it's louder than everything else combined - way too loud. needs to be turned down drastically. the spacing of the lead in the original (or in Vig's arrangement from the DKC album) is a good demo of where this should sit in the mix. it's well-played, but it dominates the soundscape. coming out of that, there's a bit more of the 12-string, one more sonar hit, and it's over. what a creative, interesting arrangement! really shows the breadth of the original's composition that we can still get really solid, unique mixes all these years later. i think that there's a ton of story in how you approached this, and the variety of realization elements you've used is really fun. i think if you do some cleanup - more velocities to the opening xylophone, avoid machine-gun repetition in the opening conga, fix verb levels on some instruments, and then turn down the guitars and especially the lead guitar at the end - you'll have an all-timer. and fixing the mono issue described above would be a meaningful update as well. so close! can't wait to hear this one a second time with a few tweaks, as it'll be amazing.
