  2. Thank you for laying out the source tune order, Gregorio. Been a fan of this OST since hearing Beatdrop's ReMix of the first stage! Right from the intro, it has an intense sound, though it feels like the soundscape's lossy and crowded; what I'm mainly hearing is the countermelodic backing parts and then the lead synth's upfront, albeit quiet. The drums are great when I concentrate on hearing them. Not ideal mixing when the guitar chugs are drowning a lot of other parts out, but I can make out stuff enough where I feel it gets by. Nice transition at 1:42. When lots of elements dropped out and the texture was emptier from 1:42-1:57 as a contrast, things didn't sound cramped. I haven't read the other votes yet, but I hope I'm not the only one pointing this out. At 2:24, the transition was sudden but seemed to flow smoothly from the previous theme. The melodic synth was a lot louder and more upfront as the lead, which made me wonder why the balance of parts felt so off in the opening verse for the stage 1 theme. 3:09's theme change basically had no transition, which was disappointing. Another sudden theme change at 3:52 and the medley-itis charges feel more and more valid as this moves along. There was at least a quick transition at 4:37, but very minimal and still a big break in the flow. Whatever those snap sounds were from 4:37-4:51 were too loud yet lossy-sounding, just really coming through too loudly in my headphones. The mixing isn't ideal and does meaningfully ding it -- it's arguably causing ear fatigue from just making this so loud yet cramped most of the time -- but I'd still pass an otherwise-cohesive arrangement mixed like this. It already got invoked before, but I'll quote the Submission Standards again: Here's how I felt about the transitions: 0:00-1:42 - "Solo Sortie" smooth transition 1:43-2:23 - "Counterattack '91" smooth transition 2:24-3:08 - "As Wet As a Fish" abrupt transition 3:09-3:52 - "A Submerging Titan" abrupt transition 3:53-4:37 - "Dream of a Labyrinth" abrupt transition 4:38-5:54 - "Return of the Creature" smooth transition 5:55-6:12 - "To the Next Zone" In other words, 3 smooth theme changes, 3 abrupt ones. We don't require 6 smooth, developed theme changes for a pass. I'm just summarizing how a fair amount of the track felt like a basic medley structure without enough flow in the theme changes to make the overall composition feel cohesive enough. Indeed, this is a well-performed and sequenced rock adaptation of several Super R-Type themes, but it's not presented as a cohesive & uniform enough musical concept where it doesn't primarily feel like 7 (amazingly amped up) covers stitched together without enough flow from theme to theme. I definitely appreciate you submitting this, Gregorio, with this intensity and great soundtrack choice. I'm a NO for this fitting our arrangement Standards as is; if there was openness to fleshing out the transitions between themes, I'd love to hear this resubmitted. It'll sound like we don't want any medleys, when in fact we've got a ton of medleys on OCR, but there's more intention to making the overall track feel like one cohesive, developing, evolving idea rather than jumping quickly from theme to theme. Whether it's with this piece again or another arrangement, I hope you'll keep submitting more of what you're creating, you definitely have a spot waiting. :-) NO (resubmit)
  3. Hello! I can't remember when I posted here last time. So.. Any feedback make me happy.
  4. wait....there was a caustic version of this?! from ......2012...?!?! link? i wanna hear that. caustic was cool, but such terrible sequencing!! on that note, is there an ocremix by now that's all done with a better mobile seq, like korg gadget etc? anyway, the posted mix is pretty much like the WIP i listened to. it's super solid, and not boring at all. it's a radio smasher. hehe. the stuff in the middle is really good.

    Scary Movie Night!

For Friday the 13th, here are 8 tracks where the games or remixes are based on, or inspired by, movies and TV that are scary or otherwise creepy, kooky, mysterious, and/or spooky.
  6. Yesterday
  7. All these years later, this mix is still so awesome I logged in just to say it.
  8. Also - I would want live guitars and live harp - so probably a collab with people.
  9. I plan to make the bass move a little more so it matches the original bass - obviously have a real intro and kind of follow this whole sneaky style
  10. Ninja.mp3 There we go - a quick ninja
  11. I can do that ninja song psytrance if you’d like. I can sketch something together. If you need more info. I’m just flying back and I have a fever today. I’ll put something together this week when I’m back.
  12. Hello! Second track in a row
  13. Last week
  14. I love the menacing soundscape of this!
  15. Fixes The MP3s for two recent remixes had some unintented skipping due to an error in the upload process. Those files have been updated and redistributed across our mirrors. Please update your local collections accordingly. Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket "At the Drop of a Coin Flip" Silent Hill 4: The Room "Dreamy Ring Around the Forest" News Final Fantasy V: The Fabled Warriors is spinning up again with auditions open for Volume 3: Fire. Head to the audition event for details. Speaking of Projects, we've setup a new Project Comms forum that offers a direct channel to OCR's Project Staff (lead by @Kit Vivid) for all of your coordination needs. The threads you make are private, so only you and staff will see it. If you're currently running any album projects, head over there and setup a dedicated thread for each one. This will help Kit and the rest of the staff keep up with questions and communications about files, consent forms, album art, etc. Coming off rebuilding the Submissions system as a forum module and building the 8Tracks feature, I'm experimenting more with creating some tools for album project directors to play with in conjunction with the forum's Clubs feature. If you're an album project director and you're interested, head over to the OCR Discord and ask me about it. We'll see if we can get you set up. That's all for now. Stay tuned for more fun stuff on the horizon! -- DarkeSword

  18. Tracks updated! ♥ I might be utilizing the forum's 'CLUBS' function here for this, as suggested by DarkeSword himself. :) I've also got access to the CRAC server as admin / album director, so I will be adding channels for AOCC and AOCH there as well, soon. :D Here's the link to the server, if you're not already on there! -- https://discord.gg/wKyadaTT And as a bit of a surprise, The Coop and I are working on the front and back covers for this!! Yay! Progress! :3 Official website details are still up in the air, but I'll be touching base with @tibonev & @colorado weeks on that ASAP. Hang ten, guys! Looking forward to hearing your WIPs! 🎃🥰
  19. Hello! 5 or 6 years.. Now I think, i/m back
  20. the only thing i've learned from doing the same is that electric guitars sound better when plugged into a potato, lol

The Fabled Warriors album series has had a pretty strong concept from the start: each track is not just a remix of music from Final Fantasy V, but also serves as a character theme for either a named character in the game or one of the many jobs in Final Fantasy V. We've done two albums already and have covered a lot of ground. WIth Volume 3, we'll be focusing on Faris, Gilgamesh, and the jobs you obtain from the fire crystal. Here's a breakdown of what I'm looking for: Faris The reckless and courageous pirate captain. Pirates Ahoy! Gilgamesh The eight-armed sword hunter. Battle on the Big Bridge Beastmaster “Trainers whose open hearts and strong wills allow them to capture and control enemy monsters.” aggressive Geomancer “Harnessing the power of their surroundings, they easily avoid pits and floors with damaging effects.” Cursed Earth heavy and rhythmic Ninja “Stealthy fighters who excel at surprising enemies and can wield two weapons at once.” Intention of the Earth fast and mysterious Bard “Musicians whose dulcet tones soothe savage beasts…or kill them.” melodic and lyrical Ranger “Nature-loving archers who can call on local wildlife for aid.” adventurous For Faris and Gilgamesh, the linked sources are required. For Geomancer and Ninja, these are just suggestions; if you think you can capture the essence of the job with another source, I'm excited to hear it. However, I'd like to avoid using sources from the previous FFV albums. To audition, please post a rough sketch of your concept in the Auditions forum in this club. Specify which character or job you're trying to portray. Your audition track should be at least 30 seconds; just enough to clue me in on what your approach is a general sense of your skill level. Collaborations are absolutely allowed/encouraged. You can audition for multiple tracks as well if you'd like. Auditions will run from today until June 30th, after which I'll evaluate and assign tracks. You'll gain access to more of the club then, and we'll also get some Discord chats going on the main OCR server.
  23. Long time no update! Check the first posting of the thread to see the final/updated track list. We will have 30 tracks in total spread out across 2 discs! We're in the mastering phase now and it won't be long before we submit it to OCR!
  24. Whoa!!! In the beginning I was like "hold up, wait a minute now!" And maaaan it just. I love how the motif and source, to the seasoned marble zone ear, is so apparent in so many different ways and yet it is very liberally spread. It's so free but super tasteful like a perfect sheen on a wooden deck or something. Love this dude, this was fantastic.
  25. Hey there, Matt! I'm going to co-sign with proph and Emu. The production on this track is the largest contributor to its shortcomings. The drums lack punch and are just buried under the synths and, to a lesser extent, the guitars. There's a massive buildup in the low mids (around 300 Hz) that makes the whole track sound muddy and the lead guitar and synths are competing for the mids bandwidth around 1-3 kHz. There's also that sudden drop in guitar volume in the left channel around 1:02 that proph mentioned. Sounds like a floor tom is causing clipping in the first B section (1:06-1:41), then another peak clip at 2:28 from the entrance of the reverb-heavy synth lead for the solo and more clipping at 2:58 on the fill heading into the final B section. Speaking of that synth lead, it utterly dominates the mix for the entire solo. Simply put, I'd need to hear more attention paid to volume balancing, EQ, and compression for this track to be ready to post. It's worth pointing out that your arrangement's quite good! While the structure is conservative, I think your solos keep things interesting and let your voice shine through. To echo proph again, your sound palette works great for the style. The vibes are right, so let's fix the mix! I recommend joining the OCR Discord and looking for feedback in the #workshop channel and/or the Office Hours Weekly WIP Review on most Wednesday evenings. Hitting the Road

I was tempted to name this "8Track Traveler", but I didn't want to set expectations that this was going to be an "Octopath Traveler" playlist 😂
