  1. I remember that round! my remix was worthless as unkindled ash. Hopefully I can channel some embers for this round! You convinced me to keep that game after a week of frustration. Hope youre enjoying it!

  2. Our track is coming along nicely. I got most of the guitars from @Tuberz McGee and @Furilas should send the bass soon. EDIT: Got da bass. It's almost done.

  4. Well, it may or may not be obvious, but as you play notes, look at the articulation that is displayed on the Friedlander UI. For instance, if you sequence two overlapping notes, by default it should display "Bow change legato", but if you press down on the C#2 keyswitch (C#4 in FL), it should play a slur. It helps to double-check by looking at the articulations that result from your sequencing, to see if a particular sequence of notes does what you think it does. Based on your demo, the fast notes don't feel as tight as it would be if a sufficiently-talented violinist were to play it. For instance, try listening to the live violin in this track: https://zirconstudios.bandcamp.com/track/unity Also, here's an example of something I've done to recreate part of a violin song. Didn't turn out too badly. Mainly what I wish I had was a bit of that grit in the tone from the particular bow Lindsey uses. CC14 is the vibrato rate, and CC11 is the expression controller.

  5. I think it sounds pretty good as it is, I do agree a bit with Chernabogue, but what I would say is since that main string part carries the melody quite a lot, I would beef it up with maybe some more strings or some woodwinds playing in tandem to make it a bit more powerful, -Sam

  6. That's what you get when you ask me to pick a source while I'm playing Dark Souls 3 Man, I love Motoi Sakuraba's work, it is so diverse. When I first heard he did music for Dark Souls I was like "What? My Star Ocean guy, did Dark Souls? Does it sound like Star Ocean? Or even Tales of?" Such a talented composer that isn't often spoken of, sadly, though it is deserving. Hoping to see some good stuff from this compo!

  7. How about that the album has a tentative release date of April 25th (this Monday) according to Liontamer's album submission over on VGMdb.

  8. This is nice -- it even has a Kingdom Hearts feeling to it. In terms of arrangement, this is quite good, I like how you incorporated the various themes. The mix doesn't sound repetitive and clearly has different sections that sound different. What could use more a little more work is the humanization (playing on volumes, velocities, etc.) even if it's already interesting. Sample quality could use some better samples as well (is this Garritan Personal Orchestra?). Maybe you can ask someone on the Workshop/R&C forums to help you on that -- just a suggestion. This definitively heads in a good way! Try asking a Mod for more detailed feedback -- keep up the good work.

  9. In the interest of making the forums easier to sign up for and more accessible to everyone, we've made some changes to registration. In the past, we've had it so that new accounts had to be manually vetted and activated; this was to avoid spam accounts and the like. This worked, but a side-effect was that new members couldn't engage in the community immediately and would become discouraged from participating. To move forward, we've done the following things: Updated our manual registration form to use the latest reCAPTCHA. This is to help fight spam accounts. Removed administrator approval from the registration process. New members will be able to post immediately following email verification. Enabled new members to register using their social media accounts. New members can now use Twitter, Facebook, and Google+ to register. If you're already registered for the forums, you can link your existing forum account to any/all of your social media accounts by going to your Account Settings and clicking the relevant links. Once you do so, you'll be able to use your social media account to sign-in, as opposed to a traditional username/password sign-in. If you have any friends who are interested in OC ReMix but haven't joined the forums, get 'em over here and get 'em involved! Between album projects, competitions, and gaming discussions, there's a lot to do here. If you run into any registration or account linking issues, please let us know right here in this thread. Thanks!
