  1. SUCCESS! ReMixes 1-2500 retagged! http://ocremix.org/forums/showthread.php?t=41730 I still want better encodings of past OC ReMixes. I have most of djp's and Mazedude's stuff, and most mixes with lossless releases (album projects/free Bandcamp DLs) are already covered. I'm looking to get other mixes as well, no matter if they're from 1999 or accepted but not yet posted. IF you've already given me something in the past, I still have it, no worries. Email me a hosted link to FLAC or WAV copies of your past OC ReMixes at larryoji@ocremix.org. They can't be changed from the existing version on the site, I'm just looking for the versions currently on OCR as WAVs or FLACs. OC ReMixers with >5 mixes (specifically listed since you have the most tracks): Are you on this list? Got WAV backups of your old mixes? You do?! POST HERE or EMAIL ME! Know someone on this list? Can you ask them for me and report here? THANK YOU! DON'T have WAVs? PLEASE do let me know, so I don't bug you. 192kbps MP3s are also OK if you had to reduce the bitrate to fit the old 6MB and 8MB size limits, and you have no other backup. 2. This is a pretty solid groove. I especially love the pads you're using on this one. If I had one complaint, it'd be that the ending just kinda...happened. Maybe I was too caught up in the groove to want to let it go so soon, but it might help if you varied the beat a bit more leading up to that point. Maybe even let those background chords echo out to maintain the smooth feeling you've built up throughout the song.

    Overwatch

Because people buy it anyway. I'm still not sold for 40$. I played the beta and I felt like I was done with the game after like 5 hours. Played every character, seen every map. From then on it's only about getting better without seeing anything new. Not sure if this one is for me.

  4. I just listened to all of the entries, the mixing will be tough. I'm actually hoping to be paired with Supercoolmike, I think his and my theme would go excellent together

  5. I just wanted to say that I'm happy that the villain round is coming soon. I'm already preparing Midi for 3 of my four possible opponents (as a precaution). I just hope I get past round 1 ... Good luck everyone (especially my opponent).

    Mac vs PC for multimedia

I know some folks will swear by Macs for video, graphical and audio work, but frankly, the days of Macs having a leg up in those areas are long gone in my opinion. There are many programs out there that will allow you to do the same work on a PC at the same speed. Sure, the Mac has a few Mac-only programs, but the PC has that aspect to it as well, along with many quality programs that work just fine on both (Sonar, Adobe products, etc.). Plus, you can usually get a powerful PC for less than a similar-specs Mac, so that could give you some cash to use toward other things (software, components, etc.). So yeah, I'd say unless you've got a hard on for some Mac-only program, get a PC and put the money you'd save toward something more useful than an Apple logo.

    Mac vs PC for multimedia

Patently untrue. Macs use the exact same kind of hardware as PCs these days. It's true that a MacBook Pro will usually trounce a laptop off the shelf at Costco or something, but that Costco laptop costs about half to a quarter of the price of the MacBook, and of course it uses inferior parts. Spend the same amount of money on a high-end PC as you do on an equivalent Mac and you'll get better bang for buck in terms of component quality and power--I've done this many times, and I'm sitting here on my super high end audio PC that cost at most half of what an equivalent Mac Pro would have cost. Now, Mac OS tends to handle audio drivers more nicely than Windows does, but not by enough to make a difference to most people. Macs are great, but they are not in any way superior to PCs by any quantifiable metric...aside from maybe resale value. Now, I also love my MacBook Pro, and the one thing that the Mac platform does have going for it that the PC platform doesn't is that there is a very small number of variations that can be made in Mac hardware as compared to PC, which means that most pro audio and video manufacturers only have to support a small number of combinations of hardware to go with their drivers or software. PCs don't have that luxury, and sometimes you have to get very finicky in order to build a rig that plays nice with all kinds of specialized hardware. I can see why someone would prefer to stay on the Mac side of things for that reason alone, but that does not make the Mac computers inherently any better. It just means that there's less room for error when other things are introduced to the equation.

  8. As far as I know, it is! I'm still in, anyhow, I just have time complications at the moment. The only time line I've seen on this (and maybe I just missed it) was that things were going to come together in the second half of this year--so it seemed like I had some time, yo!
