  1. Yo guys. I can't make the musics very good yet, but if I can help at all with this album, drop me a line. Obviously we'll cover it on the podcast when the time comes, but my unshakable enthusiasm for Sonic the Hedgehog music demands that I volunteer. If anyone needs feedback or help organizing stuff or what have you, I'm game! And definitely give me a shout before this thing goes live so we can plan for it on the show, hopefully along with an interview. - Stephen

  2. Found this one at work. Listened to it over and over and over. Then I went home and downloaded it, listened to it more, and Audiosurfed it. Been a long time since I liked a song so much.

  3. Gorgeous! Don Bodin asked me to do a little more detailed comparison of out of box sounds between CSS and CS2. Here you are: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/15510436/File Sharing/Sole Theme for Sample Library Review.rar This contains the naked theme in 8 versions. Four mics for CSS and four mics for CS2. No mixing, panning, EQ. No external verb. All nki's are set to default -6.0dB and mic volumes are set to 0.0db. MIDI Data shown in screenshots (as you can see, there's barely any humanization done). Here are the notes from the RAR:

  4. I got great feedback from Jorito and just took a fresh listen after a break; I know several things to try with track, and with the deadline that far back, I feel pretty good I can get the piece into a good shape!

  5. I gave him permission to share his Soundcloud link in the thread. I was tempted to do it myself but I wasn't sure if that would be overstepping on my part. He never replied to my last PM explaining the issue with the file. I would definitely like everyone to hear it. Thanks for letting me know. If anyone else doesn't think they can meet this deadline, let me know as soon as possible. I'd rather wait a little longer and get more submissions sent in than the alternative. It is a holiday weekend in North America.

  6. More physics engine wackiness. I hadn't heard of the Stasis Rune before, but it's brilliant. Apparently it locks an object down so that physics temporarily do not apply to it, which is common enough in video games, but when the effect wears off, all energy applied to the object takes effect at once. It's fantastic. I could tell from the level design up to that point that it was coming. BotW may be the first Zelda game where giving you true flight wouldn't actually break anything, so maybe.

  8. Once again, love this track. A couple of things: -1:12 - not sure that the In the Dead of Night part is working for this section. I get the feel you are creating here, but the triplets you need for the melody is really quiet and (IMO) really conflicts with the support the rhythm guitar is giving here. I'd suggest brightening up the orchestral backdrop to this part, but it may make it sound cluttered. Maybe a different rhythm is needed here because I'm afraid to suggest lowering the volume of that drive and losing the overall feel of the song. -1:31 - the crash adds a lot of depth and it's a great way to jump into the second Fear section, but that depth suddenly disappears once it ends - you may want to try using this crash a bit more in this section or use a cymbal crash instead so you don't leave us audiophiles hanging. WONDERFUL lead overtop of the rhythm guitar, really brings this part alive! -2:01 - this spot may be better for In the Dead of Night. I'm hearing a bit of Spirit of the Night, but not enough to make it stand out. -2:38 - I like the speed-up and solo - worthy of Brian May, Slash, and Keith Richards, and probably James Hetfield and Van Halen too! -3:19 - FABULOUS lead-in to Leave Time for Love! -3:40 - THERE's Spirit of the Night! Great place to put it, driving beat and crazy fill only emphasize the melody. Don't touch this part anymore, aside from minor matering - this sounds AWESOME! -4:45 - Ends very suddenly - leaves me kind of hanging, but better than the progressive fadeout. I still think it's worth bringing the listener back to Fear to bring the listener back to where you started, but this can work as is. It's just sudden, is all. This is better than I imagined it. Hopefully getting close to where you want to too. Keep the updates coming!

  9. I'll see how it goes, but as of now, I must reduce my OCR workload. Maybe we could indeed collab, but yeah, don't expect anything before mid-July at least.
