  1. Results time. PlanarianHugger did another song for PRC, a bonus mix this time (as winner of PRC346). GCJ did a short but interesting song. Still he only got 12 points, ending with the last place wooden spoon. Dewey Newt was the winner of PRC347, but now ends with 15 points and second place. And the winner of PRC348 is Dex with the maximum 21 points. Dex congratulations. A strong way to start PRC. You may select the source for PRC350. Send the source to me (with a MID/MP3 file, otherwise send a second source with a MID file) by PM, other options are PM me @ ThaSauce or by e-mailing to bambombim@gmail.com (I prefer a PM @Ocremix). Send your source as fast as you can, but before next Monday (29 May), 10:59 AM ThaSauce time (18:00 UTC, 19:00 GMT). You may select any source for any game, but not a source with an OverClocked remix or a source which has been used in PRC before. An overview of the past PRC's can be found in the following links: http://sites.google.com/site/bambombim/prc http://bambombim.googlepages.com/PRCRemixList.doc (also downloadable via the link above). Check the ThaSauce Page for the results and votes. PRC348 already started: check the link. http://ocremix.org/community/topic/45778-prc349-time-to-put-the-turbo-on-in-this-tunnel-battletoads/

  2. Compo: MnP (Meat 'n Potatoes) Round 74: FF Legend 2 - Battle Midi: http://compo.thasauce.net/files/materials/MnP74_Critical.mid Youtube: "I choose the Final Fantasy Legend 2 battle theme for round 74. I've been working on a remix of it off and on for a while (old draft here: http://ocremix.org/community/topic/45582-final-fantasy-legend-ii-battle-theme-metal-remix/ ) with the hopes of eventually submitting it to OCR. It's a really great battle theme, and I'd love to see what others make of it. Hopefully I'll get a chance to work on it a little more for the bonus mix for this round." -Dex Deadline: June 6 Tues @ 1 PM Vote Ends: June 8 Thurs @ 11 PM Submit your remix Here when completed. MnP ARCHIVE - made by Trism MISSION STATEMENT The goal of Compo:MnP is to promote that "meat and potatoes" conservative approach to remixing: this includes the mood and composition of source tunes. It is up to the remixer to create their own personalization, or to simply give it a sound upgrade. Moreover, the compo is a great opportunity to hone your remixing skills and give video game music the respect that is due. SOME reinterpretation is recommended, but not required. MnP Instructions/Guidelines Covers and Sound Upgrades are permitted. Most or all of the source notes must be present (but not necessarily in the exact same order), secondly the mood (energy, pacing, feelings being conveyed etc) should also be retained. For example, a source tune that is fast-paced and energetic that's remixed into a mellow/chill-out theme would be a hard sell. If you decide to do a genre swap (i.e. symphonic to techno), make sure that the conditions of #2 are met. Submissions must be at a maximum of 20mb (keeping in step with ThaSauce's file size max). Only 1 entry per participant. Previous winner cannot participate but can submit a BONUS entry. Please don't make any comments about people's entries - including your own - until the Voting process is concluded. BONUS entries are exempt of this rule. All competitors and voters must adhere to the rules stated within: Competition Code and Conduct MISC/TIPS - When picking a source tune, make sure it has a MIDI to make ppl's lives easier. - In-game sound FX are permitted, so long as they don't comprise the whole track (i.e. replacing entire MIDI tracks with just sfx)

  3. What's up folks? Dex here. I've been playing live music for about 20 years but I'm pretty new to making music on a computer. I've always thought that Final Fantasy Legend II had an incredible battle theme, so I decided to learn more about computer music by remixing it! The remix is mostly in a metal style, but I change it up a bit toward the end. I'm planning on adding a little bit more to it and ending it in a metal style, but before I work on that I'm curious if anyone has any feedback on the work I've done so far. The first couple of seconds of the remix are from the overworld theme that you hear in the game right before you get into a battle, btw. Source material (overworld theme): Source material (battle theme): Current draft (Soundcloud compression damages the audio quality a bit, but I think the main ideas come through):

  4. Hi everyone! I'm currently working on a remix of DDD from SM64. I actually played the melody from memory, so it might sound a bit different than the original. It's still unfinished (hence the abrupt ending lol). I didn't do much in terms of mixing, so i guess it will need some work in that regard too. 5. Thanks Dylan. I actually used some different chords and a slower tempo for the A section at 2:33, to also have that more calm feel of the original (kinda). New version:https://app.box.com/s/nglo3ej025r23mrva3ppf39qpjrweltp

  8. Great job @Dextastic and @APZX. You both had solid mixes that I enjoyed. Didn't get to vote because I had some personal stuff come up this weekend, but wanted to congratulate you both.

  9. Wow, close competition this time! @Trism There was a tone change in my second section! All guitars and drums got a tone change, but maybe some of them were too subtle. @APZX Thanks! For the finale I assume you mean 1:57-2:21. I like the drum part I wrote there but I didn't like the way it ended up sounding with the built-in drum panning. I tried to take your comment last time about layering the parts to make the song more interesting to listen to to heart this time, so I did a lot with panning the guitars, organ, trumpets, and sax this time around.

  10. Good on ya Dex. Only major criticism I have was your finale. Sounded a bit "rushed" with the drums. Otherwise very solid.

  15. If you are trying to encourage discussion on this, keep in mind that SF2 was halfway through localization before the project was canned. A lot of these are not errors, just placeholder names during translation. --- Taitania is likely the Japanese phonetic pronunciation of 'Titania.' (Ta-i-ta-ni-a) Fortune - well, I don't know what happened here. Probably a typo. Andorf - this is actually Andross' name in the Japanese version of SF. Coneria - also likely Japanese phonetic. (Ko-ne-ri-a)
