Mixing With Left And Right Panned Guitars?
Seth Skoda and one other reacted to Jorito for a topic
Sure, you can EQ it too, but it’s pretty common to use different amps (or amp models) and settings for the rhythm guitars, and that, combined with 2 separate performances (one for left, one for right) make it sound full already. If you use midi guitar, changing the part slightly between left and right (e.g. by changing some velocities and timings) will be a big help, rather than simply copy/pasting the part. Same for when you record from a guitar; I am assuming you are not a robot and that the parts will sound slightly different anyway. I’d recommend to try this first; you can always make it more complex later (better to start simple IMO).2 points -
[Synthwave OST/Album] Saturn Icarus Release
HoboKa reacted to Meteo Xavier for a topic
I had posted a previous version of Saturn Icarus here a long time ago. This version is the full release with additional tracks, additional work on some tracks, and full mastering provided by TOKEE. Saturn Icarus Liner Notes and Credits TRACK 1 - I Become The Machine (Technoverture) TRACK 2 - Rarewhere - (OS Boot Menu - Rev. 17.8.104B) TRACK 3 - Aladdin Continent - (Vector City Skyline) TRACK 4 - Deincarnation - (Cybercop Bust Gone Wrong) TRACK 5 - Comfortably Dumb - (Virtua Gangs Rule The Future Streets) TRACK 6 - Run, Logan, Run! (Android Abomination) TRACK 7 - Almost In The Shell (After Hours At The Neuro Lounge) TRACK 8 - Death and Syntaxes (Infiltrating The City Underground) TRACK 9 - Atlas Lunged - (Forced To Fight In The Mutant Wrestling Ring) TRACK 10 - Neon Tolstoy - (Megacorp Declares War, And I Bring Them War) TRACK 11 - Zoso's Bizarre Advertising Venture (The Back Alley Parts Shop) TRACK 12 - Shower The People You Love With Blood (Final Assault On The Grid Headquarters) TRACK 13 - Psycho Mass - (The Ultimate Showdown With The Omega Brain) TRACK 14 - Appetite For Reconstruction (The Sun Rises Over The Metropolis) TRACK 15 - The Machine Becomes Me (Acceptance, The Destiny In Disguise, Credits) Notes: Wow, this production was a hell of a ride. It was originally done for an old-school FPS throwback called SATURN ICARUS (https://gamejolt.com/games/saturn-icarus-work-in-progress/149262) and 12 tracks were produced for it. I got paid for the commission (!) but to date, the game is under indefinite hiatus and I don't know what, if anything, may happen to it from there. So with the original creator's permission, I have taken the album, along with some other tracks I had done for other things that never got used, and I made a full Synthwave/Hybrid album out of it. Each track is extremely different from one another and features anything and everything I wanted in it - synths, drum and bass, synths, orchestra, synths, operatic choir, synths, trance, synths, Japanese taiko, synths, metal guitar and, oh yeah, synths. A lot of different sounds and genres used here, but synthwave and 80s sounds form the foundation. I consider this my "Passion" album - inspired directly after Peter Gabriel's "Passion" album which was a soundtrack for Martin Scorscese's "The Last Temptation of Christ" that he went back and did more work on before releasing it as an album. I did the same here. It is available for $5.00 total on Bandcamp and other markets that follow a listing on CDBaby. Thank you and enjoy! Music by 12 Followers/Meteo Xavier. Premade loops and construction kits were used in this production for inspiration and convenience. Mixing by 12 Followers/Meteo Xavier. Mastering by TOKEE. https://thegamebrass.bandcamp.com/album/brasslevania-a-tribute-to-the-video-game-macabre Hello! I'm JohnStacy. You may know me from such places as this website and discord. You may also know me as a session brass player who plays for various video game soundtracks and soundtrack arrange albums. Today I come to you with an album from a group I'm involved in, that will release next week and is available for preorder right now. This album is Brasslevania, a fully licensed arrangement album. This includes music from several Castlevania games, Luigi's Mansion, Deltarune, and others. The description of the album does it justice, so I'll just paste that here: The Game Brass have teamed up again with arranger Thomas Kresge to bring you "Brasslevania: A Tribute to the Video Game Macabre"! Featuring some of the finest ghost, horror, and skeleton-themed music in video games, Brasslevania includes over 20 tracks from such classics as Banjo-Kazooie, Super Mario World, Final Fantasy, Pokémon, Deltarune, Castlevania, Grim Fandango, Resident Evil, Silent Hill, Celeste, and more. For this album, the quintet has expanded to a 9-piece brass ensemble and invited an array of special guests, including Mariachi Entertainment System, to the party. Equal parts spine-chilling, terrifying, and cadaverous, Brasslevania brings you the biggest Game Brass sound you've heard yet! I played french horn on this album, and am featured on a few tracks (mainly Voyager, Life is Beautiful, and The Grim Fandango Suite). The other guys who played are all my friends and we had a blast putting this together. On behalf of the Game Brass, I hope you enjoy Brasslevania: A Tribute to the Video Game Macabre!1 point

Mixing With Left And Right Panned Guitars?
Seth Skoda reacted to Mak Eightman for a topic
Your question is too wide. There is a billions ways to make billions different sounds. It all deppends of what you need right now. Mostly I use 2-4 rhythms at one time, hard panned and 2 amp with 2 cabinets. Left - amp1+cab1 Left - amp1+cab2 Right - amp2+cab1 Right - amp2+cab2 Also I use 3 rhythms. 2 hard panned and 1 at center. Some times I use 6-8 rhythms.. It's endless thing. Using same amp+cab for each gtr make your guitar sounds more upfront and "clear", but you'll lose some character. EQ is a great thing, but me personaly use only hipass at 100 Hz and -2 db somewhere 400-800Hz. Use Exciter or tape recorder or even compressor... As I said, it's endless. After all you'll understand that everything depends of drums and bass.1 point -

Mixing With Left And Right Panned Guitars?
Seth Skoda reacted to Jorito for a topic
Typically? A different rhythm guitar performance with different amp settings/amp model hard panned left and right. Lead guitar in the center. Pay attention to the bass and make it play nicely with the rhythms to give it depth and that typical low metal sound. Optionally you could look into quad tracking, but essentially it’s a variation of the above.1 point -
Hello all. I just released my new Goa Trance album, Flight To Europa with my new project A Flying Dryad. This means that Reunion is back and open for submissions, but I don't know how active we will be. Our hiatus lasted almost 6 years so most artists who contributed before have probably moved on by now. I made the album using Renoise Tracker, so it's NOT like the stuff you're used to hearing from me. I've spent most of this year working on the album so it would be cool if you would check it out. If you're interested in Goa/Psy that is. Album can be streamed on youtube or downloaded from bandcamp (name your price). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cJvmJRLb_cI https://aflyingdryad.bandcamp.com/releases http://platonistmusic.com/reunion cheers Jonas1 point

Better than the other post, Ice 7. Here it's simply more interesting... probably due to there being more dynamic instruments (some loud some soft).1 point -

Good: I like the staccato piano, adds a 90's flavor to it Bad: Needs more variation in the arrangement, a choice between committing to blues solos or not, cleaner mixing Keep it up!1 point -
What is my micro-niche?
Seth Skoda reacted to Nathan Allen Pinard for a topic
Hi there! I've been a member of these boards only for a bit, and just joined a remix project. I wanted to ask a favor on this board as I'm having a hard time decide what my sort of side-project band "Immortal Aria"'s genre actually is. The big genre is Classical, then most would call us classical crossover. However we don't release albums full of covers, the album is often a concept, and we hire vocalists from around the globe so the band itself can't really show up in person. http://immortalaria.bandcamp.com (You can stream free) If anyone could take a listen and tell me what band/arist does this music sound like? Who's the first that pops in your head? Here's a breakdown of the track "styles". The album itself is based on the Phantom of the Opera story. A very niche story at that. Some of you may enjoy this, or may not. 1. Orphan in Winter - Orchestral and focused on piano 2. That Summer by the Sea - female vocal (broadway like), orchestral 3. The Bleeding Rose - female vocal (Classical), orchestral, solo violin 4. Waltz with Death - Orchestral, dark, pipe organ, 3/4 time sig 5. In the Mirror - Opera Male Vocal, heavy brass, epic, orchestral 6. Legacy of Daae - Piano/Orchestral, ballad 7. Firelight Through Diamonds - Pop female vocal with strings, heavy staccato strings, pop'ish 8. Chanson de l'Ange - Opera female, orchestral, ambient, huge crescendo 9. Worlds Apart Female/Male broadway-style duet, rock elements (but with drop tuning), solo metal guitar, heavy orchestral, pop-feeling 10. Crimson Petals - solo cello and solo violin, sad, ambient Note to mods: This seemed like the only spot to place this. It's not an advertisement for original music, and not a remix.1 point -
Very fun arrangement! A few aspects felt a little bit off to me, but overall I quite enjoyed listening! At 0:59, the instrument that carries the B(?) melody sticks out because it sounds thinner than everything else we've heard; all of the other instruments sound (impressively) like typical orchestral instruments, but this one sounds like an oddly-processed saxophone, or something. At 3:03 and through several sections to the end, the rhythm in the timpani sounds a bit jarring. I enjoy 3+3+2, but personally I don't feel that it fits into the "Russian folk" style. I could be wrong! At 4:15, the dotted rhythm feels over-dotted; it sounds like a mistake because it occurs nowhere else in the arrangement. Compare 4:12 and 4:25.1 point

Will do, I've gotten more reports of the site being weird, especially in Firefox. Gonna check out the control panel next time i have time to update the site. Climbing the Tree of Life seems to be the one, you're like the 20th person to point to it. Duly noted1 point

Always enjoy me some tracker music. Listening while I work. Climbing the Tree of Life is my fav so far, but haven't finished yet. (Btw you'll probably want to remove the "s" in "https" from the link to your website above (or just install a security certificate), clicking it gives an error.)1 point
