  2. @The Vodoú Queen After hearing your tune I already hate the fact that most of my equipment is ~900km away. @TheVideoGamer And this tune makes me wish my loop station wasn't with "most of my equipment". Great choices! Hopefully I'll get something done this time.

  3. Speaking of Thasauce... did ya'll know they do a one hour composition thingy each thursday? Like, they provide a picture prompt for the compo, then give you one hour 20 min to make a song and upload it. I've found it a fun composing exercise. Checkit here if it strikes your fancy https://compo.thasauce.net/compos/view/OHC.

  4. Welcome to the voting stage The mixing stage is over. This round has 3 songs and 1 bonus mixes by Souperion. The following people compete against each other: Wassup Thunder TheVodouQueen TheVideoGamer To vote, do the following: Visit http://compo.thasauce.net/rounds/view/PRC420 and listen to all the entries Scroll to the form at the bottom of the screen or click PM. Fill in the entries from first to third in the ThaSauce form or fill in your top 3. Do not vote for Souperion. State a reasoning for it. Participants are encouraged to vote and leave feedback. However, they may not vote for themselve, They get a 3 point bonus for all the songs. They only need to fill in their top 2, leave the third box empty (or vote for Souperion at the third box). Always look in this thread to find out who's the winner of the round after the voting stage instead of only looking at ThaSauce for the results. You have until Tuesday January 26th 2021 10:59 AM ThaSauce time (11:00 UTC, 12:00 GMT) to vote. If you vote by PM make sure that your top 3 is clear. I prefer something like this: (To) (Subject) PRC ### Vote (Message): 1: (remixer A ) 2: (remixer B ) 3: (remixer C ) (reasoning) I will post the feedback given in the PM’s and the votes in this thread. The winner may choose the source tune for PRC422. PRC421 just started. Edited January 6 by Bundeslang

  6. Hello, just was curious if anyone had any general feedback to this song I made, especially in the mixing category.

  8. Mini boss, you say? This thing sounds more suited for the final confrontation of a repeating boss. I love the frighteningly atmospheric intro, and the almost primeval vocals. And those drums are killing. I think that things get a little muddy with the introduction of that new synth(?) at 2:35, I wonder if it may be a reverb issue. The effect it has on the soundscape is really nice, though, I bet it would be amazing if it was a bit clearer. The addition of brass in the last leg of the piece was a neat touch. Very nice job here.

  9. They also have a 2 Hour Track Sunday's, which is exactly as it says on the tin. Just check the homepage page of the website, as i do. You can find all upcoming compo's in there (Active, Upcoming, Voting and Completed)... (I participate in both, if your interested)

  10. @anachromium Man, if I could, I would--but it's been so many years since I've touched acoustic guitar or flute I would probably fail pretty hard on it without substantial practice. Kinda wish I never sold my old band flute TBH. Acoustic guitar also needs new strings. @TheVideoGamer Woot. \o/ I mean mine's pretty experimental, but I thank you specifically for the inspiration. ♥

  12. Thanks. That is very true... Glad you found a place here. This community will be around in some way shape or form for a while yet, I reckon. Best of wishes to you. If you're in the Thasauce Discord, you can find me there. Also, I think someone gave me a Beta-build CPU. Faulty wiring...beep boop X_X

  13. @HoboKa Well, it's sure be fun for me at least. I've enjoyed hanging around these compos (MnP and PRC) the past few months than I ever did lurking about in the remix workshop, giving out 2-bit advice. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy letting folks know I like their stuff, but always felt impersonal, distant. The little community here, I feel like I have a place. As that guy who doesn't seem to know how to compose without at least 3 tracks of stringed instruments XD. Hang in there, boss. At the end of the day, we're all folks staring at our computers, making music and sharing it with folks who could be robots for all we know (my serial number is #64813490, in case you're wondering.) Take a breather, do something nice for yourself.

  14. Big Update!! I am going to be taking a break from MnP and am working to delegate all responsibilities to @TheVideoGamer and to a lesser extend @Bundeslang. I will be on standby for emergencies. [Wtf was I on??] Though I aim to spend less time at OCR, as I love the community, but I don't like how high the Quality Bar is and feel that the Judge Panel could step it down a notch for the less skilled hobbyists. Also this blinding white light of the forum Theme is really bad for my eyes. Being near-sighted (yeah, I use glasses...but I might be at risk for Glaucoma) and with constant Allergy problems, it's just not good for me lol. [Clearly, I was conflating the issue here. Some of it is true, but...I was dancing around the crux of the matter. Most likely, it is background noise to other issues I am dealing with. Double apology there.] [More Apropos] I have come to realize that I am poor at handling stressful situations and I lost my cool, to say the least, with one of our participants. I don't want this to be a pattern and I need to get back on counseling and healthier self-care routines. It sucks, but it is what it is. Said individual told me they've forgiven me. However, I still don't feel good about it. I have thoroughly enjoyed hosting MnP and being a huge part of the Compo Community. Wish the best to you guys

  15. I know I'm like two weeks early, but entry in! I hit the point where I didn't want to pick at the song any more.

  17. Staying inside the lines is an interesting challenge with MnP, the first time I made a submission I was scared to make any variations! But I'm finding it a brain stretcher to try and remix something faithful while simultaneously unique. This and the PRC have really helped me learn more composition and editing skills.

  18. NP, I'll color inside the lines, just the colors might be hot magenta pinks and blues. >_>

  19. Probably be a very hard sell, in all seriousness, since most people will probably play it safer. As you've seen, Even APZX is a bit iffy on bending the MnP theme too far, and he's pretty good at this gig, so...thar be choppy seas ahead, matie. But, hey, a Pirate Happy Hardcore would be a great PRC idea for this round...I don't really know. I got nothin helpful.

  21. I agree with AP, but I'm gonna try my best. Is 130bpm OK? It's not as fast as I'd like it (160bpm), but might be able to do some weird Sonic / Nightcore hybrid for the song.

  22. No worries, do what you can; and whatever feels is right. Either way, I really appreciate you participating the last few rounds, it meant a lot. Too bad my votes didn't quite reflect that, but that's the nature of this gig. The crown weighs heavily. And yeah, MnP rules do kind of suck, don't they? PRC is sort of better in a lot of ways, but I can't be a carbon copy of it

  23. Ya know, that might be an interesting angle to take Magical Dreamers.... >_> Especially if my first idea falls through. Happy Hardcore. Would have to watch my tempo tho so not to break the rules.

  24. Speaking of Palette broadening, this is a steal!! I was gonna share it to you for free, but it might not be so wise, since it isn't part of the licensee agreement. Plus with your current setup, Happy Hardcore is a fun style that MIGHT get a few votes. Might need to learn some time-stretch*** techniques, idk how that style is done really. I'm sure it's more than just shoving samples up really high on the octave scale. EDIT pingas

  25. I'll hit ya up then on that offer. I'm mixed between putting any in this time around, but I'm happy to grab some free mp3 or wav vox if you got em, for future use. Bandlab's are fun and all but admittedly some are just plain bad and most are only good for rave or techno or nightcore type stuff cause it's kind of high pitched, chipmunk squeak. Works sometimes, but agreeably, need to broaden my palette.

  26. Eh, MnP lends itself to that sort of unoriginal thing, and that's OK, just gotta do it good. If you want more vocal samples, I can give you a bunch. I got a bevy

  27. @Dextastic Would be an interesting challenge to see if you don't fall into doing electric guitars for the main parts like the song leads / encourages to use. Just like apparently I shouldn't fall to using vocals / vox every time / every song.

  28. Ah, found the midi on the site... Sad thing is, as much as I love this song and every other song from the Chrono series, I'm unsure if I'll be able to pull anything off with this on Bandlab Online. It's probably the most complex midi I've worked with... Possibly too complex for my novice self. Not quite sure what to do with it. :/ Outside of limited instrumentals from the midi side I'm almost always working with loops, and outside of extremely simplistic samples, I'm stuck.

  29. I really don't like the tempo rule to be honest, and I'm probably not going to submit something for this one simply because of it. I've got an idea for a Trancey piece, and for the feel to be right I'm up around 128bpm which is a bit too far from the 110 in the original IMO I do have another idea, but really I'm not jiving with some of the melody parts. I don't mind the groove I've got going, but I do mind some of the melody parts. I dunno maybe I need to sit in front of some synths and get to hashing out some sounds. Edit - Plus I've been working on something original the past week or so, and when I go to remix this I kinda want to bring forth those ideas when I know I shouldn't but I can't separate the two.
