You are free to create a second ThaSauce account for that if you use ThaSauce, it's needed to be able to upload a second remix if you use ThaSauce. Of course you can also upload it somewhere else and put a download link in this thread. It is enough to remix one of the sources. There's no bonus for mixing both sources, but it is encouraged. Do not make qualitative comments on an entry until the results of the vote have been posted in this thread. Mixers cannot vote for themselves but if they vote they receive a free first place vote added onto their score. The winner of this round may select the source for PRC437. Studionimbus.org can enter with a bonus song and has a double vote. You can find the full rules list at this page as well. GOOD LUCK! 4. Interesting, i thought this was only as a result of a tie. I didn't know it was legally allowed. I might have to bring 2 sources in next time i win lol.

  5. Sure! Good music is good music - especially capturing as I don't know this game.

  6. Production value is top notch. I have no doubt here that this is OCRemix material. It's not my type of tune/style, but I could get into it!

  7. Thanks for all your help! This is obviously an unusual system error, than a late error. I might message the mods at the discord, should this problem continue.

  8. A perfect example of why i'm often slow at announcing the voting lol. If only i wasn't sick all the time, then i wouldn't be wasting time.

  9. Glad you submitted. Shame about your ear, i remember on one of my days where i had the sniffles (I seem to be on and off with these, i don't know why), i had a temporary deafness in one of my ears, and it sucked. I can relate. I'm glad people submit, that's what matters to me (Well that, and i hope everyone to have fun). Anyways, good luck to you!

  11. There were only 2 rules that were going to be relaxed, and this was for the source submissions. (These rules being, the 6th gen rule, and the one franchise per year rule.) Now that everyone has picked their tunes, and it's all been remixed, this round is back to being enforced. The reason i relaxed it for this round, was because i wanted people not struggle when picking a spooky source, especially since you have an added restriction of following your work you picked. That's what made this whole round extra unique, because you end up picking sources you never would imagine, make it to the round, but because of the words people picked, it works well. MnP general rules have always been in place, and unless there is a specific round that calls for it, 99.9% of the time, these will never change. It was really the source picking, which we all did in the group message i sent. Nothing else needs to be done. Of course i've sent this, after you've submitted, so this probably won't matter by now lol, but if another special round does happen in the near future, this is my explanation for it.

  12. I only know 2 things about FFX: there's a dancing summoner girl, and some dude Tidus can't laugh. Had some real trouble getting something I liked with it, but got something in. Good luck, all.

  13. Just dropping a quick word that this blew me away. Easily one of the best things I've heard from you, the guitars and vocals add so much to your production. I'm excited to get a chance to evaluate this properly

  14. I highly recommend buying the remastered collection on PS4/5! It includes both Final Fantasy X and X-2. Final Fantasy X was the second FF game I played growing up (the first being FVIII), so I always get a good nostalgia high playing it. Also, the entire soundtrack is amazing. Uematsu is a legend!

  15. I saw some past PRCs that had two sources which is what gave me the idea, but it turns out those were a result of a tie! I thought these two could go well together which is why I submitted both. Of course, as mentioned by @Bundeslang, that’s not a requirement, but I’d highly recommend it!

  16. Dang, this song is hoppin'! That rock organ tho. Makes me kinda wish I played past FF9 now. This'll be real fun to work with.

  17. Hello everyone, I'm Damian and I'm super excited to join this community! I happened to find out about OC Remix on Youtube many years ago, when I first listened the Fire Cross Final Fantasy OC Remix by Luiza and the Purple Heart OC Remix by goat. They were actually some of the first songs that inspired me to want to play guitar and make video game music arrangements. I was finally able to afford an 8-string electric guitar almost one year ago, and have been learning to play alongside learning music theory to be able to understand why I feel so moved when listening to certain music. My next goals (music-wise) are to cover some of my favorite songs and to turn some ideas into full songs. My favorite bands in recent years have been Animals as Leaders, Avenged Sevenfold and ALI PROJECT. Video games I've been playing lately and have been amazed by the OSTs are Advance Wars: Days of Ruin, Nier Replicant Remastered, and Atelier Ayesha. Besides being involved in music, I love to read (all kinds of genres, but mainly history, philosophy, and economics). I also love playing hide and seek with my cat Ophilia. ? I'm still very new to navigating around this site, but it looks like there's so much content to look into and explore! Thanks for having me and I am looking forward to meeting you all over time! ?

  18. the opening is pretty rough. the snare sample is super electric and sounds pretty weird being machine-gunned like it is. the bass has a fun tone but it's panned and also has a ton of sub-bass, which makes it sound muddy (and it'll sound worse on a big-sub system). the kick is also panned oddly and is mostly beater sound without any bass, which is an odd sound. the pitch-shifting of the snares is an interesting idea, but not shifting the formants as well makes them sound kinda odd when they get farther from their natural pitch. at 0:41, there's some of the melodic content coming in. the synth work here still features too much bass, but i liked the block chords idea (they're still a little spare and an octave too low IMO). the lead synth is a fun tone and clearly delineates the melodic content, so that's good. there's an obvious loop point, and we go through the build-up to the melody again, which comes in at 2:20. i did like the glide synth for the arp, and that was a neat change, but other than that it felt pretty much the same as the first time through the same material with no break in between. at 2:55, there's a synth-only part that noodles around some bits of melody that builds back up into the rest of the groove. it was a nice break from the original idea, but i started to get tired of the lead at this point. the song noodled some more around the initial riff of the melodic content and then sorta ended. overall this one needs a lot of workshopping from the synth and instrument choice side, i think. the drums sound strange - they feel like they're in an electronic song but you're using them in a classical fashion, and it doesn't do them any favors i don't think. the synths are mostly static throughout - some shifting timbres and new instruments part-way through would help relieve some of the oppressiveness of the repetition. beyond that, i'd think hard about putting a hard EQ on most of your synths so they don't sound so muddy and bleed into sub-bass range. this one isn't there yet. WIP Terra's theme

It's a very good start. I can give feedback based on my experience with music theory and orchestration: 0:22 not sure about the gong here, maybe some softer suspended cymbals (very soft) with bell tree might suit this part better 0:34 the timpani is also out of place for this texture. from 0:00 to 0:34 you should use soft pizzicato basses to help the bass line, and you can even do pizz bass + legato cellos/basses together from 0:34 to 0:50. just some single plucks on the root of each harmony at the beginning of each chord change is enough. 0:50 the melody was established by oboe earlier, so this is a good opportunity to add a counter theme (using counterpoint, or call-and-response) 1:20 i'm hearing some harmonic motion but the chord voices are not correct according to 4 part harmony. it would be good to write out the 4 part chorale using piano first then orchestrate it for organ/strings/trumpet. the piano helps you to hear the voicing better, and makes sure you are following the rules (no parallel unisons, 5ths, or octaves, no doubling leading tone, using cadential chords, etc.) For the overall instrumentation, strings can be doubled by soft horns/winds, harp arpeggios are always nice, and cellos/basses should always play in octaves unless you have a good reason for them not to.

  20. EVAL Well let's see what we've got here. I haven't done one of these mod evaluation things officially in ages, but let's give this one a shot anyway - I've got work to do, and this is a great way to avoid it! Well first and foremost - fantastic production values! That's some really good sounding orchestra you've got goin', here. I like the breadth of instruments used here, too, plenty of woodwinds and brass to accompany the all-too-common-yet-still-beautiful string sections. The pairing of pan flutes with the strings really gives it a bombastic, Hollywood sound (a trick of their industry, if anyone wants to add a little oomph to a string lead - layer flutes over strings!), though on the second pass of the theme changing that lead out a little bit would help the arrangement stand out a little better as it's overuse does make the arrangement sound a hair static. It's not too problematic since the brass lead for the middle section does help break things up, but it's a thought to spice things up. As you say, this is a little conservative, but you'd be surprised on how permissive the panel can be on that front. While minimal, there is definitely some personalization going on in here (don't think I didn't catch that wonderful "Prelude" reference at 1:46, for example). It might still be too conservative, but I think it's worth at least sending over to the panel even if you have no plans on expanding it further. The production quality is definitely there, and the arrangement & orchestration is quite good. The worst that could happen is it gets rejected with the judges saying "It's too conservative", so I'd say give it a shot. Of course if you add some more texture flairs like the prelude at 1:46, or even do some subtractive arranging in the second half of the song (e.g. remove some source elements to give the arrangement some more variety) that would probably be enough to bring this over the top from "too conservative" to "hey, this is interesting and different enough for OCR". Regardless, I think it's pretty well done and I definitely got a kick out of it, so nice work!

  21. Hey man, even though it probably isn't different enough to become an OC Remix song, beauty is still beauty. There is a lot of really nice work in the dynamics here imo. The flute is nice too even though like you said, there are some ornament issues. I guess it was accidentally triggering them? What VST is that btw? Im wondering though, even though it is straight up and there are many other orchestra Terras on the internet these days, what could be done with a rather moderate arrangement to really make it standout? Maybe once you are done here, you can do some soul searching and find out how to make this really something special despite being moderately arranged?

  22. oh, what a great intro. the scoop on the lead is delicious. this is a really fun vibe right away. i agree with emu that there's some r'n'b here. it's irritating to me that the dx7 and the piano is ahead of the beat almost the entire time, but that's a nitpick. feels like it got stamped in a touch earlier than it should have been. the variety of backgrounds by the two minute mark help keep it interesting. the pads at 2:15 is a nice transition too. the guitar is fun when it comes in, albeit pretty out of tune. solo was nice and does a nice job mirroring some of the melody's shape while making its own way through it. the chiptune-esque synth at 4:11 is a really fun idea, and then the exploration it does is neat. it's a little loud though. the fadeout is fine, i didn't think it was too abrupt or too early. my complaints on this track are primary in the details - the keys being ahead, the guitar being out of tune, some balance. overall though it's over the bar. nice work on a fun style. YES

  23. No worries, i was a bit behind, so even i didn't get to submit. Let's be honest though, 8 entries is more than enough, so i don't see what value i would add anyways lol.
