Can anyone recommend some new age OC ReMixes?
Meteo Xavier replied to Ascendancy's topic in General Discussion
I really want to use this opportunity to plug my only remix on this site, but its whorish plus it might be too dark and dramatic to be considered new age. -
I'm only going to critique the finished ones. It makes more sense that way. Liljedahl - Son of a bitch, dude, you put me to shame here. It's a bit long and overdrawn and not much really comes in to make special later on, but this is still a really well done synth-rock piece in every regard. If I did something like this I'd be very proud of myself for a while. What did you use for this anyways? X2 - Wasn't as enthusiastic about this song, but all the right stuff is still there. I'd maybe slow it way down and turn it into an ambient track.

Nepotism of the Godhead - Music for a video game.
Meteo Xavier replied to Meteo Xavier's topic in Post Your Original Music!
I certainly don't want to make Novo look like they had insane demands, just difficult ones that were more difficult for me to put a pin on and pull off. Anyway, cool, thank you for the compliment. One of these days, when I get some time, I'd like to go back and fix it up proper. -
Nepotism of the Godhead - Music for a video game.
Meteo Xavier replied to Meteo Xavier's topic in Post Your Original Music!
Well everybody has the potential to do better, they don't always have the time to do it. Thats the category I fell into. Anyway, your criticism is noted. I was more looking for sound quality or arrangement errors, but "generic" is fine to accept. You're exactly right, it was composed exactly to do the job and little else. -
So, a while back, Novo interactive posted here looking for composers and I signed up to do 4 songs. They wanted music that was unique with sort of a poppy, cartoony orchestral and electronic drumbeat sound that was still kinda serious without being really dramatic...... Yeah... So, after a while of trying to come up with something, I made this abortion of melody. It has a certain charm to it and I was able to do some things I've never done before and make up a decent bit in a different style, but I wonder if this song is really as bad as I think it is. I have like 7 different sound mixes, but this is the only one I have on me, so I am aware of some sound and EQ problems, but does this song really suck or am I imaging it? http://www.zshare.net/audio/57200312a2a9a220/

Dammit, doesn't anyone want to buy my games? You can't find them anywhere and the prices are negotiable for godssakes. Additionally, I have stuff to WANT now: WANT: - Cheap, random strategy guides. I have a lot of random games that I'd love to be able to play through easier. I don't care so much about the quality of the books, they just have to be functional. - Also, Gameshark or Pro Action Replay for PS1, PS2, N64. - Anyone that could help me fix my Turbo CD.

Possible OCR soundtrack project for a game I'm working on
Meteo Xavier replied to FireSlash's topic in Recruit & Collaborate!
*** dammit, it figures all the music jobs would be available and snatched up while I'm waiting to raise enough money for a new FL Studio. -

I got it as a Christmas present, so I'm thinking it was Ebay. I didn't have a clue because: A. Someone bought it. B. It worked. Mostly I just figured it was a transferred license deal. I did think the notes and sample CD I got with it were somewhat strange but it worked all the same. -
As I wait for my psychotic anti-sex manuscript to come back from my prviate editor, I'm trying to draw up stuff for cover art ideas (on the chance I get that opportunity) and I want to do something with an anime face on it, but trying to translate whats upstairs to text is difficult. So I'm asking if certain anime styles that you keep seeing have definite names and designs so if I ask for something like Yuffie Kisaragi's head drawn like this style of anime (http://www.mtv.com/games/video_games/images/promoimages/d/dime/trippin/castlevania_dawn_of_sorrow.jpg) or this (http://www.animeh.pl/images/upload/Wrath%20Of%20The%20Ninja%20-%20Yotoden%201.jpg), I would know what the hell I'm talking about?

How long has it taken you to musically get where you are today?
Meteo Xavier replied to Gario's topic in General Discussion
Try as I might, I can't think of many occurences of this happening. Usually talented people end up doing things that are either not what they were put on the planet to do or squander it specifically. Take me for example. I work in advertising. I only work in advertising because professional Paladins no longer exist and therefore cannot get insurance coverage. -

Meteo Xavier replied to Gario's topic in General Discussion
I was waiting for someone to point that out Anyway, I just want to take away some of the mystique of being talented. I've long hated how glorified those with natural abilities are over those who worked and willed their way to get where they are. -

Meteo Xavier replied to Gario's topic in General Discussion
Well of course there are such things as people who just automatically "get it" right from the start and go on to do great things with it immediately - if you want to call that talent, fine - David's point (same as mine) is that you don't have to start a career at the age of 4 and parade around the Oprah circuits until your unbalanced childhood turns into a messed up adulthood to actually be good at what you do. Fuck, who wants to be talented anyway? Those people are freaks who coast on their one skill their whole life, build an ego, and clash with reality hard when its suddenly all over. I'd rather earn it so I can appreciate what I have and still have my balance and dignity. -

Meteo Xavier replied to Gario's topic in General Discussion
Its taken me 6 long, ungrateful years with many false starts, unreliable partners, complete lack of any real training, autism as a learning disability, some thousands of dollars, and pretty much anything even resembling a conventional tool. It wasn't until about this year that its finally getting somewhere. My sound quality has improved dramatically since about this time last year. I got a lot of work to do still - a game, an album i havent finished, another one, the Seiken densetsu remix project, and hell I have to buy another damn Fruity Loops, but all this on the power of will alone - thats not bad. I'm not a David Mamet fan at all, but his credo is mine: "There is no such thing as talent, only hard work." And i can personally attest to this. -

Well guess what, turns out my copy was illegal the whole time. Its no wonder I couldn't find anything on it. Explains the sample CD I got with it too. Whatever, I'll get a part-time during the summer or something. -

Prophet Mephisto told me Amsterdam, but whatever, I'm sure its the same time zone. This has just turned into such a finely-tuned clusterfuck that patience is hard to come by. -

Oh, I get it now! It never occured to me that I use the registry key as proof. /genuine. Not sarcastic at all. Just wanted to mention it because my response might come off sarcastic. Now if I could just get a fucking support person to contact me. -

Meteo Xavier replied to Meteo Xavier's topic in Music Composition & Production
I created the support ticket, but I don't understand how getting the registry is going to help me out here. Are you saying I download another demo of FL Studio 4 and try to use the registry key on that? Thats the step I'm missing here. Again, I apologize if this is frustrating. I'm frustrated with it too. -
Trying to get a copy of a much needed program on a computer that can actually run it because a virus ate it at the last moment and the CD and Box cannot be found and you can't just transfer it to this computer and the tech support is so bad you're half-tempted to drive to their headquarters and start hanging people by their dangly private parts and by now you pretty much have to steal just to get the service you paid for in the first place is a half-decent reason.

Meteo Xavier replied to Meteo Xavier's topic in Music Composition & Production
Ok, but how do I get that to work? If I download another FL 4 demo on this computer, wouldn't it require another reg-key or how do you mean that to work? Sorry if I'm just not getting it, this whole thing has been a month long nightmare and I'm totally confused as a result. -

Torrents are a fucking waste of time and nearly got my brother arrested. I sent a message to the offline live chat, I guess I could try the live chat now though. -

I never expect it to be easy. Because it never is. I have no working email accounts for Image Line. I've only had 3 in my entire lifetime and none work. How do I reach the live chat thing? Edit: Damn dude, you edited it right as I posted. -

Meteo Xavier replied to Meteo Xavier's topic in Music Composition & Production
I'd love to shell out $30 for an update but I can't even get that far. I can't get on the forums or find anyone to email to ask. I bought FL4 boxed too, but I don't remember it asking me to register online. Nutritious made an interesting suggestion that I use regedit to look for the registry key, download FL4 on this computer and try that, but what I'd really like to do is just get the support@ whatever email address just to talk to someone at Image Line or whoever they are now. -
I'm trying to get a version of FL on this computer. Problems: - CD and Box fucking disappeared. Probably at my dad's house, but I wouldn't know where to look. - There is absolutely no decent way to just ask someone on FL's website. In order to ask, I have to prove I'm a customer, and if I could do that, I wouldn't have this problem. Possible Solution: - I have a fully registered version of FL on the computer upstairs. Question: - Is there any information I can get off of that that would prove I'm a customer? Or, is there anyway I can take it off the computer upstairs and install it on this one?

And can maybe tell me why mine isn't working? The TGX-16 system works, I have the right system card in place and I know there is power running through the CD machine, but the CD is not spinning and all I'm getting on screen are blue and white screens. Its locked to the machine. I can't figure what else I'm supposed to do or what else is wrong. Any ideas?
