Anyone taken a look at the B&R entry in the Dynamic Range database? It's interesting to see the stats. They have a lot of other albums from OCR as well. Something I've been mulling over the past few days, doesn't ReplayGain sound the death knell for the Loudness War? In fact, the louder a track is the worse it'll sound when the gain has been compensated by RG, since the transients are all gone. The only problem with RG is it's not ubiquitous yet, and a lot of people aren't aware of it. Once any serious mp3 player on any platform supports it, not only playback but analyzing your library, I reckon the loudness war is dead. In fact I'm giving serious consideration to easing the fuck up on my own music in anticipation for that day, which I don't think is far off.

I always retag albums as "OCRemix", otherwise my mp3 player would be a complete mess.

Are the Mario RPG games actually a JRPG? I always though of them as... something else. That reminds me, I need to play the first Paper Mario. Bought it on the virtual console since I never played it back in the day.

It's not just this album. All posted mixes get much fewer responses that mixes from years ago. I'm not sure YouTube can explain it, since the older mixes have more responses there as well.

I must say, one of the tracks I've enjoyed the most is There's Nothing Like Flying by DDRKirbyISQ. It's got such a great happy feel, reminds me of Star Salzman's airship track on VotL. The flurries of chip tones are expertly done. Excellent!

I had to go back and listen to the original to realize a whole bunch of the elements in this remix are not present in the original, which is very simple, yet they FEEL as if they should be. That's the sign of a great remix.

Excellent choice of source! The original Rayman is such a fertile ground for remixes, I'm surprised more people don't do it. In fact this inspires me.

What about Metal Gear Peace Walker HD? I don't own a ps3, but god damn did I love it on PSP. I can only imagine it's better with dual analog sticks.

Studio One has ARA (Melodyne integration). Very cool. Sort of what Sonar has done with V-Vocal for years, but Melodyne is actually good. A large point in Studio One's favor. Hopefully it comes to other DAWs.

I think most of the "traditional" daws can do it. Except, bafflingly, Sonar. And that was just one item out of a laundry list for me. The exceptionally clunky and limited key binding. The even more clunky way to configure control surfaces. No macros (ok there's CAL, lol). Slow and painful automation. No multi-out midi tracks. General feeling of inefficiency. Ok there is one thing I miss from Sonar, the track inspector. You can rig up one in Reaper, at the expense of the full mixer. Ok, another one - tempo automation feels less risky. Every time I do it in Reaper I feel there is a potential fuckup on my hands. Maybe I'm not doing it right.

I used Sonar for 7+ years, but eventually there were too many deal breakers for me. No batch rendering... really, Cakewalk? I'm much happier with Reaper. I honestly can't think of any feature i miss from Sonar.

I hope everyone doesn't have to match this level of quality for ReMixes going forward.

If Kickstarter is venture capitalism for the masses, this is patronage for the masses. Sounds fine with me. I don't think I could ever do it, I'm filled with too much doubt over the quality of my music. But obviously it's working for other people.

It was by Krispy, and I believe it was called Deep Blue. Back in the day I enjoyed the hell out of this one, but I can't find it anywhere. I've googled it of course but none of the links pan out. Does anyone have this track? I'll be your best friend for life.

To me a cohesive album would stick closely to the implied genres of all the tracks, not be a single genre. For some of the source tracks the genre is fairly obvious, others not so much. That said to me there can be as much interest in hearing a track done 180 degrees from the source. Obviously though different people have different expectations.

Hah, thanks! I know it's probably towards the bottom of the list of tracks people are anticipating, but I hope it still piques the interest of folks.
