  1. I am enjoying the back and forth. I've found it interesting and informative so far.
  2. the problem as I see it, is that there is a lot more supply of music than demand for it. so it's a buyers market for game developers, and aspiring game composers don't have a whole lot of options available to them. add to that that we're in the age of music piracy, where people don't even want to spend 99 cents on a song. it's a tough row to hoe.
  3. Uh, isn't that the market in action? Unless you're proposing that home musicians unionize.
  4. Do people prefer keyswitches, or separate tracks? Up until now I've been on the side of keyswitching, though it's kind of getting on my tits lately.
  5. I've been tweaking my template for awhile now, it's pretty good though I still need to balance the volume for everything. Certain libraries seem to be louder than others. Reaper has very flexible track routing. It's a snap to route MIDI from one track to multiple other tracks. I'm thinking this might be useful to set up impromptu sections for unison playing. Then you have the choice of triggering instruments separately, or play one of the group tracks. IDK, maybe it's just a novelty idea with little value.
  6. I would volunteer, but there is no earthly way I can have a mix ready by Sunday.
  7. Maybe this? It's pretty short, though, and not all of it is 4 on the floor.
  8. Writing orchestral music can be a massive pain in the ass from an infrastructure point of view, so I figure we could talk shop. This is an open-ended thread; any questions, comments, or tips about setting up an effective orchestral template are great. I'm curious how other people go about this.
  9. How long's the sale for? Laid up at home, sick unto death, won't be till next week that I go back to work and have a fast connection.
  10. I wonder if this will slip in before the FF6 project in terms of release.
  11. Bloody balls, and its still so expensive. Guess this is one game I'll never play.
  12. Is this game still an import?
  13. oh, right, I was supposed to do this. Oh well, too late now.
  14. I'll take classic SNES games over a new console any day. Bah. I feel old. Get off my lawn ya dang kids.
  15. Neither, Native Instruments Komplete audio.
  16. Oh, this tune is so much fun. it would be a blast making something similar. what the hell, I'll sign up. out of town till this Saturday, but I should be able to whip up something in a few days.
  17. Got the latest update for kontakt?
  18. If you want, send me what you have and I'll try to finish it.
  19. I think of you as the guy who plays acoustic instruments. Which makes Modus' comment all the more baffling, given the nature of this product.
  20. I think a more proper term is virtual instruments. You're looking for virtual instruments that sound good. Synthesizer implies something that produces sound via oscillators. which may be what you want, or you might need pianos, drum kits, other acoustic instruments. it all falls under the heading of virtual instruments. Reaper is an awesome program and my DAW of choice, but the problem is it doesn't have any virtual instruments of its own. so you'll need to find ones to pair with Reaper. or you can invest in a DAW that comes with virtual instruments.
  21. People should make what they like. A lot of the OCR dubstep tracks don't do a lot for me, but I think that's cuz they're not produced very well and sound messy. The new one Forrest of Illusion is a good example. On the other hand Rockos' track is interesting and well done, the fx complement the music rather than getting in the way. Dubstep is actually pretty goddamn hard to do really well.
  22. Shockwave Sound has a lot of nature soundscapes for cheap.
  23. Darn, I'd like to try this but I'm going out of town starting Friday.
  24. I don't think the dryness is a problem, most hip hop is pretty dry. I do think the kick and snare could be weightier. Otherwise, cool sound.
  25. I've owned it for a year or two. Condition is somewhere between very good and like new. It's been used very little; not a knock on the Electribe, I've just discovered that I'm a software guy through and through. I'll throw in the SD card I bought, so you're ready to make music right away. Comes with the power adapter, manual, the whole works. I think I even have the original box. My price - $350 (includes shipping and insurance). PM me if interested.
