  1. This topic is the perfect example of why rules were meant to be broken. Screaming Oranges probably shouldn't be double-posting, but who can blame him? This shit is awesome. MOAR PLZ!
  2. @Powerlord: Can you please switch "Goldrush" and "Steel" in the rotation? We previously discussed not like having Dustbowl and Goldrush maps next to each other because of their similarities. I know one is cp and one is pl, but what I mean is that they are played so much that everybody knows them to death. In addition, cave and steel have the same problem, but backwards. They are both similarly new and rare to play, so having both in a row really empties the server. Other than that, I'm OK with it. REGARDING CRITS: I played the old Day of Defeat the other day, which I used to play religiously about 3 years ago. I totally forgot how quickly you died in that game. If you got the first shot in, you lived. every time. Every gun could kill you with one headshot. TF2's method is much better. SOMETIMES you might die instantly, but most of the time, other factors matter much more. They are annoying sometimes, but they work as headshots without the need to be insanely good or accurate. Which is a good thing, because it opens the game up to more people. Anyone can have fun in TF2, regardless of skill level. I think the game in general is just better for casual play than competitive play, which is why I go to the OCR server and not some ranked clan server.
  3. I've been following this game since well before it came out. It looks pretty awesome, and I'm looking forward to getting it as a gift either for my birthday or Christmas. Much <3 to good 3rd-party Wii games!
  4. Is there a way to disable "team scramble"? Especially since it crashes the server? A bunch of us got to try pl_strider tonight. It was disappointing without 24-30 people. Also, it needs way more metal and health packs once there's that many players. Conclusion: cool idea, shows promise. With a few things fixed here and there, it could be much better. NO, RESUBMIT
  5. Nintendo actually does lots of stuff that are really experiments for new, upcoming hardware, but they are sold like real games: Kirby Tilt 'n' Tumble Hey You, Pikachu!
  6. I have a confession to make: I no longer enjoy playing Hydro. I used to love it. In fact, it was my favorite map when there were only 5. But now, all I see are the enormous flaws in it that make it unplayable. Like the last point on red that doesn't have a setup time. Like the overall lack of metal, which forces engies to camp the same places. Like the huge advantage demos have over every other class. I would no longer miss it if it were gone from the rotation. If people really want it, we can RTV it, or an admin can select it. Just my 2 cents.
  7. I just bought three DS games during GameStop's buy 2 get 1 free sale this weekend. I bought Disgaea, Trauma Center 2, and LEGO Indiana Jones for $48.xx. (All originally $24.99) (I work at the GameStop, so as soon as some crazy person traded in Disgaea, my manager put it in the "hold" drawer knowing I'd want it without me even being there.) I finally removed Civ Rev to put in LEGO Indy (so I can finish it and return it within 7 days to buy used Okami Wii instead) and it's a pretty fun little action game. The LEGO games are so great for little kids because it has great action and decent problems to solve without having too much violence or text. And while I'm sure an 8-year-old would love finding everything and getting to 100% completion, I'm planning on just playing through it once and getting rid of it, just so I can say I've played it. (INDY series is not my favorite) I'm still super stoked I found a used Disgaea DS only 4 days after it came out.
  8. Speaking of bans, rules, and the like: Does the opening server page say that porn sprays are not allowed? Because if it isn't, it definitely should. (Especially gay sex porn sprays). Someone was doing it last night, but I wasn't sure about the rules. I would have opened up a votekick if I knew who it was though. If I knew that was on the front page, though, I'd insta-kick.
  9. I am way late to the party, but "nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo" made me lol. I approve. But it did need more penis monster jokes, complete with overly graphic examples.
  10. I thought Advance Wars: Days of Ruin was a little too dark for its fanbase. But in all seriousness though...wow. Unbelievable.
  11. The biggest reason I regret the stat reset (no, not my ranking going from top 5 to 21) is all the overall collective stats. I liked knowing how many kills I got with an Engy pistol on the server, and knowing if I had the most or not. I liked knowing what classes I had played the most. I liked collecting all the daily awards. I liked knowing my long-time kill:death ratio against certain people, which needs a big sample size. I liked knowing who had been on the server, when they were on last, and how long they were there. Although we're starting again with these I really don't care that much about what place I'm in, but I found all those other stats incredibly interesting, and I miss them. Not to be overly dramatic (too late ), but I have had fewer urges to play TF2 since the stats reset. Maybe other people feel the same way, which might contribute to nobody playing in the server? Just saying.
  12. I have a bad feeling that changing the server address caused some problems with losing some regular visitors to the server. People who don't frequent the OCR forums, that is. Also, school is back in session for everyone now, so I'm sure that plays a big part. I was on by myself at around 5 p.m. EST for awhile before I gave up and left. Other servers are no fun.
  13. Oh, I guess I did. That was about 6 weeks ago so I kind of forgot my exact words, but either way, I meant casual, which I also used in the same sentence. My bad.
  14. Hey I heard there's this site called OkraMix or something. Supposedly it has free music. Something about lame ass video game tunes or something. You can even use the music other places as long as you post where you got it from and who did it and stuff. I dunno if that's true or not, it's just some rumor I heard once. ALSO: I need to quit work and play more TF2. It's been a long time since I could play. <whiny post about working 10.5 hours last night until 3:30 a.m. has been moved to LiveJournal> POST-ALSO: Is HLStatsX down right now or something? I'm trying to check stats but all I get is a blank page.
  15. I said it would be too hard for CASUAL gamers, and by that I mean people who play video games very rarely. Like my girlfriend. If you go to a video game music site on a nearly daily basis, you are probably not a casual gamer. As for Civ Rev, I totally don't understand how you can't save. Last I checked, it was "press start, choose 'save game'." If you're still having trouble, I'll post step-by-step directions, because it's too sweet of a game not to play it. Very highly excellent portable game. Can be played for hours and hours, or can be played for 15 minutes.
  16. Just stop there. You lost 95% of the OCR audience already. Including me
  17. I think making you recap should add like 15 seconds or so to the time it would take to recapture the intel. This seems like not much, but it should really help the other team be able to defend their intel better next time. This is an easier solution to making it take longer to get the intel from the intel room to the capture point.
  18. Except Gray was a nice guy OHHH BURN i just went there also posting like atmuh is still lame i miss punctuation already
  19. I actually really liked the giant "THE FLAG IS HERE" bars shooting up into the sky, especially since I doubt there are other alternatives to figure out where you're going. I agree on using some "no build" zones in a couple of places. I also like the idea of needing to recap the point, which would slightly lengthen the time it takes to get from "I just capped" to "I just capped again before you could fix anything." As a whole though, I like it. Of course, I love most custom maps. I'm not sure I'd play a class other than Scout or Engineer though.
  20. I counted 12 red team train deaths. I was 3 of them. Requium4u was actually not too bad of a player for being 14. I know we've all played against other kids who were much better, but I'm saying it was the one reason I didn't kick/ban him before Darkesword did. He actually was making positive contributions to the team. Of course in the end, the various micspam/trolling/whining made more negative team contributions than any skill level, so he was gone.
  21. Atmuh, if I send you a Wii message, will it make you feel better? When I played the GameCube version, I actually enjoyed the really difficult challenges to "level up" your characters, so to speak, except for really random ones like "Get 3 RBIs in one at bat" and other ones that were so reliant on other things. It eventually frustrated me so much that I stopped playing it forever. I'm still kind of thinking about buying the new one, but I have much more important things to buy first, like Spore, NHL 2K9, or an engagement ring.
  22. ROTATION: Could you please move the placement of Goldrush so that it is not next to Dustbowl? I feel these maps are very similar in that everyone is very familiar with them, even if one is Payload and the other is Capture Point. Other than that, I'm OK with it. Thanks!
  23. OK well I guess Turbine is a really bad example here. Obviously, there's not much to explore there. I retract my Turbine comment. It's fun because of the giant open deathmatch-like area in the middle.
