  1. The best way to do it is to join the OverClocked Remix group on STEAM. That way, you add a ton of friends all at once, and you can still see what they're doing and join them in-game. I usually add OCR people I've played with to my friends list after that. Hope to play with you soon!
  2. December 2009 shall be "headshot month" for sigs. This way, we can post pictures of our faces so we are recognizable, and we can play with "BOOM HEADSHOT" memes.
  3. The Damned and I were playing the other day and were infected with crappy players. PLEASE STOP SHOOTING ME AND BE CAREFUL WHERE YOU THROW THAT MOLOTOV. Idiots. I need to start being more proactive in kicking lame-o's. Ruins an hour of fun if it's not fun.
  4. I've heard extremely diverse reviews on Moon so far. Like, either total waste of money, or one of the best DS games available. Nothing in between, it seems. Hmmm... In a barely related theme, the last game I've been playing on my DS has been "Dokapon" for GBA from 2003. I bought it used from GameStop for $5 after purchasing "Dokapon Kingdom" just to see if there are any similarities. The game is brutally difficult, especially at the beginning, but I'm still playing it for some reason. If you die, you lose all your stuff. Like, money, equipment, and items. If you die, you can't load an old save point. You go back to the beginning with no stuff, but you keep your experience points. To make matters worse, the battle system is based on rock-paper-scissors (or Rochambeau) so if you pick the wrong random choice too many times, you'll die. And lose all your stuff. Supposedly there's some sort of monster capturing mechanic, but it's too difficult to use (despite it being one of the big selling points of the game) and I have yet to figure out how to capture any of the monsters. I would probably not recommend this game to anyone except other fans of Dokapon Kingdom who want to play a slightly similar one-player campaign. But I still won't stop playing it until I beat it, I fear...
  5. One more name tag to check is "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" vs "TMNT." That is a bitch to find the right remix on my Zen Micro while driving!
  6. I've been trying to find people to play with for the last three days around the times of 4-7 p.m. EST, but nobody's on. Both TF2 and L4D are low on OCR players around those times. Instead, I've been going to 30 player Warpath-only servers with decent success. I STILL wish I could play Warpath with 30 OCR regulars, but unfortunately, it seems that the days of massive TF2 are behind us. It seems people have better things to do (including myself) like school, work, L4D, or any of the other games people bought during the STEAM sale. I've had a ton of fun over the last year playing TF2 with OCR people. You've all helped me become a "PC gamer" rather than just a Nintendo fanboy. I hope we all have a lot more fun gaming sessions in the future, and in the short-term, I hope I can find times around 11 p.m. when everyone else is on and I can join in.
  7. Although I've heard nothing about this update you're talking about, I'll make some projections: I'm about 85% sure this will fix the melee spamming. As much as I have enjoyed slamming right-click while changing guns, it does seem pretty unfair and impractical. As well as these minor tweeks and fixes, I bet we have one more campaign, and two or maybe three more maps for versus mode (although the maps will be ones from campaign mode already). I would love another weapon, and I'd be OK if it were just another grenade object. Also, smoker buff?
  8. Actually, that's EXACTLY why I vacation to Canada. Get away from the loud, busy, noisy places and go north (far north) to get back to nature. Mmm, nature.
  9. ON TOPIC: I'll miss EGM. I respected them as a good source of video game information. Nobody in print media is surviving these days, even in such a successful field as video games. It's why I can't find a job with my journalism degree. OFF TOPIC: Game Informer's biggest problem is that they are strongly biased. They love shooting games and hate Nintendo (especially the Wii). The reviews section always infuriates me because it seems like they don't see the big picture. Every shooting game gets an automatic 7.0 or above. To me, if you make a mediocre shooting game these days, it should get killed by critics because there are so many other, better choices available. Every game on the Wii, on the other hand, says that the controls don't work right and the graphics are bad. Every game. I'd go into more detail, but this thread is about EGM. I'm worried that this is just the beginning of video game magazines going under.
  10. As I've mentioned in previous pages, I used to love Hydro, but now that there are so many better stages, it's crap. It has MAJOR issues that should have been addressed by the TF2 dev team about 12 months ago. Such as not having a setup time on the last "defend" section. The server was pretty full the other day. I got really optimistic about the future of OCR TF2 until I remembered that tomorrow is Monday and everyone in the country goes back to school. Drat.
  11. As for the story, it's not that great, but the time was right: We moved in together about six months ago after being in a relationship for more than three years. At the time, I reasoned that it would be a six-month "trial run" to make sure that we were compatible enough with each other to make it work. Sure enough, six months later, Christmas seems like the perfect opportunity for a proposal. I order a ring from a well-respected local jeweler (not a chain in a mall) after looking for an hour or so, and pick up the ring less than a week ago. I didn't want to just wrap it in a jewelry box, so I put it in another large Amazon box, and wrapped it. I asked her parents for "permission" to marry their daughter on the 23rd because it was the first time since I bought the ring that I had a chance to see them in person. They were impressed that I'd actually ask them since it's so old fashioned. She has a family tradition that they all open one present on Christmas Eve, so I continued the tradition for out small family of two and asked her yesterday if she'd like to open one early. She actually said, "I don't care. We don't have to," but I insisted. She opened the present, saw the box and immediately knew what was inside. She opened it up and said yes, then unfortunately, she had to go to work (retail sucks) and I went home to spend Christmas with my family. Yay Christmas memories!
  12. OMG, my own thread!! Now that people are actually interested, I'll have to post more information. First of all, here's a picture of the ring (needs more light in the picture so it can really SPARKLE!) : I doubt she'll be playing much Team Fortress 2 or especially Left 4 Dead (she hates when I play that game) because she's not much of a gamer. I did buy her a Nintendo DS a couple of years ago, and she sometimes plays Wii with me, but she's not a fan of shooting games. In fact, she doesn't even have a computer capable of playing those games anyway. However, this probably has very little impact on my frequency playing TF2 or L4D with fellow OCR regulars because we already live together, and she understands that I need my video game time. Woo!
  13. MacGyver could save the world with a piece of silverware, duct-tape, and a quarter-roll of toilet paper. It was the bad guys who had all the tools and abilities. Jack Bauer just needed people to say, "Sure Jack, whatever you want." Chuck Norris just needs himself.
  14. If the game turns out to have three times more content than the first one, then I guess I'm OK with it. But be careful with your expansion packs, Blizzard...
  15. You have no idea who I am. That is all.
  16. I agree more than the average person that graphics don't make a game. On the other hand, TFC's horrible graphics negatively impacted the gameplay. You couldn't tell who you were shooting, if you were hitting them, where grenades ended up, and where people were hiding, among other issues. Also, TFC sounds like: HA! *BOOM* HA! HA! *KABOOM* HA! HA! *BOOM* HA! HA! HA! *THUNK* HA!
  17. And one of them is a touch screen! Speaking of which, this thread needs mention of Elite Beat Agents. Best music game you can buy for $30 or less, period. Also, the DS is THE HOME of strategy RPGs. Or if you're like me, the Japanese versions were the best $50 music games.
  18. Not once in there did you talk about PSP games. The PSP is indeed great for all of the above things, but if you're just looking to buy a handheld video game system specifically for the games, I have to recommend the DS based on its giant and diverse library. Someone asked me at GameStop the other day, "What is the best game that came out for the PSP in the last 3 months?" I didn't really know an answer better than Ratchet and Clank. He then asked me, "What's the best game coming out for the PSP in the next 3 months?" I didn't know that one either. "So what's the best PSP game so far?" I said probably God of War, but it's rated Mature, which doesn't mean anything to people who frequent these forums, but it means a lot to the parents of an 8-year-old who wants a portable system for Christmas. As for the DS, it has adventure platforms, action games, music/rhythm games, puzzle games, "brain training" games, racing games, RPGs, strategies, and all sorts of other random things. Plus, the entire GBA library. The only thing that's hard to find on a DS is good mature-rated action and shooting games, which is the PSP's specialty. In the end though, it depends on if you want action/shooting games with other diverse media functions or a large and diverse gaming library.
  19. I played a bit of L4D yesterday before going to work at GameStop. Is it bad that I then proceeded to view all of our customers as Infected? They're all running at me like my boxes of Wiis are pipe bombs, I swear. I suppose as long as I don't see Boss Infected in the crowd, I should still be OK, right?
  20. Yeah that happens a lot at GameStop (where I work). They almost always send us more copies of the preorder bonus than we have preorders for, so we end up with extras. Unless it's an epic release (Gears 2, WoW, etc.) we'll usually have extras, but the employee might easily forget about it. If you are buying new releases from GameStop, it never hurts to ask if they still have any preorder bonuses left. I got a CD, for example, even though I haven't bought the game (...yet?). Let me tell you, the CD is awesome, but painfully short. It's like finding a great free sample of porn online. It's enough to get you to blow your load, but you know there's gotta be a much better and longer version of it somewhere...
  21. I've had lots of problems with all kinds of things in versus mode, but I've been saying since I first tried it that versus is not that great or fun. Campaign mode is so much better, especially since it feels more perfected, like the developers spent most of their time on it.
  22. Actually...that's kind of hilarious. Only because L4D is more of a "this situation is so dire, all you can do is laugh" kind of manner. If someone did something like that in TF2 though, I'd flip my shit and come whining to the mods. But in L4D, it's more like, "LOL we lose again." Also, lol@"incoming!!"
