For those of you who have already bought the Wii version, please let us know what you think. Not of the game necessarily, but of the controls. I want to know if I should buy a used PS2 Okami from GameStop for $26.99 or should I buy a new Wii Okami for $39.99. Thanks!

This thread has allowed me to come to the realization that I really have no idea what's going on with computers. Pre-emptive "sorry" for what may be an extremely stupid question: What are some potential cons with the lack of backwards compatability? Does this mean that I won't be able to play SimCity 2000, or am I completely off base?

OCR TF2 Team: Gametime 9 PM EST on OCR server MWF + some weekends
SirChadlyOC replied to zircon's topic in General Discussion
Steam ID: SirChadlyOC I've been in the OCR Steam community since we started talking about it like 6 months ago. I've played a few times in Dyne's server. LET'S DO IT! -
Thread over. Thank God you didn't buy that new at retail price, or it would've taken weeks of group therapy to get you back to functioning as a (somewhat) normal human being.

I haven't played on one before, but I haven't heard very good things about them. They are (obviously) VERY small, which can cause problems for anyone with normal- to large-sized hands. Make sure you try one out for a while before you commit. The screen is smaller, which some people have complained about. It does have a backlit screen that is somewhat brighter than the old-model GBA SPs, but not nearly as bright as the newer models. Also, it has a headphone slot (as opposed to the slot-free SP). The power charger is unique to the Micro, so whatever you do, don't lose it. It's nearly impossible to find Micro accessories these days. You can buy one used from Gamestop for $35, or new for $70. I'm sure there's better deals out there, but it might take some work or patience. I know lots of stores still have them collecting dust on the shelves, so any day now, there should be a massive price drop. As for lsjd, I have no idea.

Hey You, Pikachu -> I thought maybe my sister would like it ...? Road Rash 64 -> I loved the Genesis ones so much. It really doesn't seem that hard to make a good version of this game. Wrestlemania X8 -> I hadn't played a wrestling game in a while (since No Mercy and the 2000 iteration), and I had an urge. Little did I know this was nothing like those games. Nanostray -> I'm sure this was a great game, but I couldn't beat the first level so I couldn't tell you. These are just some of the most memorable misfires. Maybe I'll have some more after a few more posts.

EA Trying to Buy Take2. EA Wants what it wants
SirChadlyOC replied to The Damned's topic in General Discussion
Look, I play Madden 08 with my friends too and still have a blast (sometimes), but I find the overall quality of the series of games to be unacceptable, and I'll give a few examples. In the latest installment, the passing game is mostly broken. Making complete passes require mostly luck because the receivers are usually off the screen. Defensive backs ae exceptional at breaking up passes but catch the ball worse than school kids on the playground. Tackling is often difficult because only one defensive player can make contact with the ballcarrier at any one time. Penalties are unpredictable, unpreventable, and often make no sense when reviewing with instant replay. As someone mentioned earlier, players run through the stands. I noticed recently that after missing a field goal, the opposing team receives the ball from the spot of the kick, not the yardline the ball was snapped from. The game is also prone to crashing and freezing. These issues by themselves are at worst annoying, but when in conjunction with every other weird glitch in the game series, they become unbearable. The worst part is that 9 out of 10 annoying glitches will still be in the game when you buy it again next year for $50. So will the graphics. So will the game engne. So will the playbook. However, there will be some new feature that doesn't work in practice nearly as well as it should. In conclusion, the Madden franchise is successful today more because of the success of professional football in America, not because it is a great game. Because 2K Sports or any other company cannot make a different football game with professional athletes, Madden has no competion that threatens to overtake them., and EA will continue to sell 11 million units of Madden every year until nobody watches the NFL anymore (lol). -
EA Trying to Buy Take2. EA Wants what it wants
SirChadlyOC replied to The Damned's topic in General Discussion
Have you played a Madden game in the last 5 years? They're horrible. -
Sorry guys, but didn't you hear? There's No More Heroes. Sorry. Good news, though. I hear it's a pretty sweet game.
-
Dude, you need to get new friends. Seriously.
-
Just to let you know, GameStop is also having a midnight release, and you can preorder the game there to guarantee your copy. I don't usually reserve games, but this one seems like it's worth it.
-
I kind of read it as diarrhea of the mouth. Smash Dojo has been more of a blog than anything, so I'm used to Sakurai just saying whatever's on his mind. I've played Starfox 64 enough to know that I would miss silent protagonists once they were gone.

I wonder if this game is going to be impossible to find in 6 months, or if it's going to price drop to $30 like Killer 7 and be really easy to find everywhere (for a while at least). It looks sweet, but my massive backlog of unopened games has me banking on an eventual price drop. Hope I don't regret it, because it definitely looks awesome. Suda love!

I just want to thank everyone for being good about spoiler tags and links so far. Or if people have been bad, I want to thank the Mods for dispensing justice. That music list is huge, and more will come. Did we learn anything else with the music list? Perhaps a new stage? (Was New Pork City announced before??

I blame Nintendo. My GameStop store received a shipment of 2 today. And one of those was a preorder, so there was only one copy for the general public. Needless to say, it was gone by the time I started work at 5:30 today. No wonder Suda complained that 3rd party games don't sell. Nintendo isn't giving them enough support. Oh yeah, and the 3rd party games are crappy ports, etc.

Virtual Reality Head Tracking for Nintendo Wii
SirChadlyOC replied to Shadow Wolf's topic in General Discussion
I admit, I was skeptical until I actually sat down to watch the video. This is pretty freaking sweet. To be able to create a real-looking 3-D environment using a Wii (and while viewing it on YouTube, no less) was amazing. It seems clear to me that this is the next evolution of gaming, after the motion-sensing Wii controllers. Although it seems just as possible that I'll never see this actually put in a real game and everyone including me will forget this ever existed in six months. -
For those who want a quick summary, the article is a quote from Goichi Suda, known for the upcoming game, "No More Heroes," who says that third-party Wii games aren't selling. My take on this is, "Well, DUUHH!!" Take a look at the majority of third-party games on the Wii right now, and most of them are horrible. Granted, there are some exceptions to the rule, but even the best third-party games are remakes or ports of previous installments. The worst part about so many of these third-party games is that the previews seemed awesome at the time, but playing them was a different story, such as Red Steel, all of the racing games so far, and most of the shooters, such as Call of Duty 3 and Far Cry. So until the Q&A departments of these third parties start raising the bar, the games will continue to get crappy reviews, and the games won't sell.

Oh man, all this time I thought it was a reference to Ender's Game. My name is Chad, and once in 5th grade, someone said that my Renaissance name would be Sir Chadly. I added the OC when I made a new account five years ago (for no good reason) because I was enrolling at Otterbein College, and the old name was taken. By me. EDIT: 200th post. I suppose that means I finally need to change my sig, which somehow allowed the old forum's inside quotation brackets.

Oh man, I wish someone would have warned me that the Ace Attorney demo would have a massive cliffhanger. It sounded like it was the complete first case. Now I feel all ... unresolved. And it's still more than a month until I can find out what happens next.

I'm giving it my first playthrough. I already got stuck at the boss on chapter 2, and now I'm stuck in the town on chapter 3. But I didn't despair because I realized that anything is possible through the southern cross. Either I'm not as good at videogames as I thought, or I'm just way too far removed from 1990 video-game strategy and thinking. It is a really fun game though, and I regret missing it during the NES era.

Awesome, I've been wanting to try StarTropics for a really long time. Any hints or suggestions on how to play such an old game for the first time? Is it like "Castlevania II: Simon's Quest" and I'll have no idea what I'm doing without help, or should is it more straight forward and I should I just try to wing it?

Half Life 2: Portal (The Pwned Life)
SirChadlyOC replied to Protricity's topic in General Discussion
Prot, I miss you. Jared, I still love you. <3 This video is sick. It makes me totally want to try this. Looking forward to the finished movie! -
This update is good for one thing: Man, that's hilarious.

Not to hijack your thread, but I will join you in TF2 sometime. I once joined a server you were in, but you left soon after. I thought it was because I freaked you out or something! Next time, I'll make sure I say hi. Now, back to Magic. I bet that game works really well online. Probably better than DnD.
