  1. Well I don't really know how to use him competitively yet but overall I'd say he's just really fast, and all his attacks have great range since he attacks with the Pikmin. His aerials are really strong too. Plus he's just a lot of fun to play as.
  2. Atma is right Olimar is incredible. I believe I've found my new main.
  3. Getting it midnight tonight. Never actually done IRC before but I guess now's as good a time as any to get in on it. If you see Scufo either on the irc or online that's me.
  4. ^For realz. I sat there just listening to the song instead of continuing the dialog for like ten minutes on my first playthrough. But eh, it gains plenty of respect points from me for including Dragon Roost.
  5. Wooooo, just found out my Gamestop's having a midnight launch. And then I work on Sunday and Monday, and have a metric assload of stuff due Monday
  6. Mario's kinda boring. No one wants to play as the "all-around" guy. Y'know?
  7. Well it IS a lot easier to respect good Bowser player than the droves of good Marth/Shiek/Fox/Falco players. Although that might be changing now. @Arek: I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure even Gimpy acknowledges that Bowser was an awful character. No matter how good you could get with him you would pretty much always lose to a top tier of equal skill level.
  8. Whoa that's...not how I expected Ike to sound. Never played any Fire Emblem games, so I don't really know, but he sounds way too old. And Metaknight's voice sounds unnatural, it's so deep. And Falco's from New York, or something? Overall they could be a lot worse. EDIT: OH WAIT I GET IT HE'S ITALIAN. Lombardi. Yeah. It all makes sense now.
  9. Yeah, SA and SA2 were both originally on the Dreamcast but were ported to the 'cube as SADX and SA2: Battle. Big was one of the characters in SA. And in a game that was meant entirely to be a high-speed experience, you had to FISH with him. And that's all you did. It wouldn't be all that bad, either, if it didn't feel completely half-assed and pointless. Plus his voiceovers were absolutely atrocious. Silly Sega and their inability to make a decent 3D Sonic game. Well except for SA2.
  10. @ Lord.Roderick.i Sonic Adventure DX, not SA2. I actually like SA2 a lot. It fixed a lot of the problems from the original. And there's no fucking Big the cat.
  11. That's like buying UT 2004 or Halo 3 and playing only the single player...Phantom Dust's real value is online. Yeah, the single player isn't too great at all. The only reason to play Phantom Dust really is if you can get a group of people to play with you regularly online. Maybe it's not for everyone, but for me Phantom Dust is just an incredible multiplayer experience, since it has so much depth. You're constantly tweaking your arsenals and making new ones...and it's really satisfying when you take it online and your arsenals work just as planned. Also a good cartwheeler can consistently dodge just about every melee attack except rapid High Speed Punches. Mid and long range attacks are very useful, especially in tag team. Not trying to force my opinion on you or anything. I just don't think you can really give PD a chance without playing online, preferably with people you know (and with the game being as obscure as it is you pretty much have to).
  12. Sonic Adventure DX. Half-assed port of a mediocre platformer? SIGN ME UP! I don't know why I bought this game. I don't even really like Sonic. Metroid Prime 2 and 3. These are probably the only two highly-reviewed games that I can't stand. It wasn't so much the gameplay I didn't like, but the mood the two games presented just couldn't match the awesome vibe that Prime 1 gave off in every environment you step foot into. Also the scan visor in Prime 2 pissed me off. Why they thought having the entire room emanate a disgustingly bright multicolored glow would be better than the simple icons presented in Prime is beyond me. Viewtiful Joe. Eh, just didn't click. So it's a side-scroller and you can speed up/slow down time. Yay?
  13. Haha holy shit there's no way in hell that was intentional.
  14. Eh, I think Guitar Hero just builds hand-eye coordination more than anything, which I suppose is helpful for reading sheet music and whatnot, and for just building dexterity in general. Honestly I think the fact that you're playing to music is largely irrelevant. When you play guitar hero, you move according to what you see on the screen, not according to the sounds that you think should be produced as a result of your movements. The fact that you don't have to keep time or actually produce the sounds that you hear largely negates the benefits the game has to actually playing music, I think. But I'm just guessing here.
  15. I've heard some people say that playing Guitar Hero actually damages your ability to play real guitar, and that guitarists, when attempting to play, are almost always horrible. As a guitarist, this isn't hard to believe, since the fingering is much much different on a real guitar than on a plastic fisher price guitar controller. But I play Guitar Hero too so I don't buy it.
  16. I'd have to recommend The Flashbulb. He actually dabbles in a pretty wide variety of genres, but his fifth album, Red Extensions of Me, is pretty much entirely drum n bass driven. Or maybe it's drill n bass. Whatever. It's good. Get it.
  17. Running speed has never had a whole lot to do with the actual speed of a character.
  18. To be fair, it was a charged smash, and Shiek is a light character, and it was right on the edge, and it looked like a tipper. marth is teh overpowar lulz
  19. If it'll make their online service any better, then I'm all for this. I doubt the payment will be anything significant. If not, then Nintendo has hit a new low. The only reason their current service is even close to being forgivable is because it's free. EDIT: Then again the chances for voice chat are basically zero, and since this only applies to certain games we know there's never gonna be a centralized online service. So there's not a whole lot they can add to make the cost justifiable. Well I hope it's only for very few games.
  20. Speaking of stages, I wonder if custom stages will become standard in tournaments? Like, say, a Final Destination with fair ledges.
  21. So basically there's no rankings and everyone is anonymous because Sakurai didn't want to hurt anyone's feelings. Way to go.
  22. itt people make "witty" comments instead of presenting an actual argument.
  23. HOLY SHIT CASTLE CRUSH That alone makes it awesome.
