  1. Man it's like a freakin' bar fight in here.
  2. I AM -THIS- CLOSE to buying a TMNT Turtles in Time arcade machine. DEAD serious. They're remarkably cheap too... ... I hope this game on the Wii will be decent... I'm not holding my breath though...
  3. I will always remember the Pokemon Red and Blue launch. And I will also remember the launch for Super smash Bros on the N64. I was so excited to get out of school to go and play those. What good times. Man... this thread makes me miss the easy relaxing days of my childhood.
  4. Really wanting to pick this up... but I just don't know... Have they nerfed any people or does SF4 pretty much play the same as SF2?
  5. Meh... C64?! ... give me some way to download Saturn games and you'll get my attention... ... but alas, you'll need a beefier hard drive for that. And quit all the Earthbound hate before I get angry.
  6. I demand brain eating zombie versions of older systems... now.
  7. I badly want to enter this contest. I hope I get some free time!!!!
  8. You know when Zelda 64 first came out and you could turn Link and it would just immediately face the direction you wanted to go (there was no turning animation really) and as a kid I remember expecting being able to turn like that in reality because I'd played Zelda 64 a little too much. When I was like, wow I actually did a rotation to reach this point, and I thought about how strange it was. Serious.
  9. I know some people that get that texture glitch when they Alt-tab out of the game and back into it, not only in L4D but in Team Fortress 2 and pretty much all the other Source games. In fact, I've seen that exact same glitch with people I can say it with relative certainty. If you didn't alt tab then like all the others say, update update update your drivers.
  10. Well, I'd just have to say that with 2D you're limited in what you see, and when you're limited with what you see you're more willing to fill in the gaps with your mind. With games that are trying to look like reality you lose that imagination part of the experience... you see everything that is in this virtual world. I mean, I know the older games I've played that were really limited have better experiences than games that SHOULD be better because they're newer and 3D and look impressive visually. Sure core game mechanics are important. But really... maybe it's all just nostalgia. Playing a game that is REALLY good when compared to things in its time makes it REALLY stand out at that one single point in time. And that stays with us. I don't want to say it's all nostalgia, because a lot of good games are inherently good, but ... I have to assume that maybe in a few of us that's how it works, and is why we feel that way about our favorite games.
  11. I don't know if my thoughts have ever REALLY changed, but I have certainly learned things and been influenced by them. For instance, the Metal Gear Solid series really got me into enjoying real life politics as a kid and teenager. Now, in my twenties, I'm really glad I researched all the political scenarios in MGS because it's nice to know all this stuff. Its also got me really into history. Politics and history. And because of that, I've found that I really enjoy taking these courses at my university. So... Metal Gear really has influenced my life to the point of affecting my thoughts, I guess, now that I think about it.
  12. I have NEVER played a lag free game. Ever. In fact, I gave up on online play the second week Brawl was released. It's unplayable for me and also all of my buddies. A little lag, I can deal with, but it's just a little too much to be playable here. Kinda makes me sad.
  13. Do achievements also cancel out if you've gone idle at any time? Seems like it would, but I never let it happen so just don't know. There are a few times early on when I got the game and was concerned about getting achievements for finishing campaigns, occasionally it wouldn't give me credit for finishing a campaign with my buddies once we finished. Never understood it. Anyway, me and my buddies are just now starting to be able to handle Expert... we're slow starters I guess. We slowly started with Normal and have been ramping it up as we complete each campaign.
  14. How is this? It looks interesting, although the idea doesn't really appeal to me at first glance. It looks like a decent platformer, and some the concept of being really small sounds cool. There was a screenshot of a broken cellphone that looked real cool.
  15. I love my Playstation 3. I really love Flower and I'm looking forward to Killzone 2, and Metal Gear Solid 4 was fantastic.... HOWEVER ... I have to go with my PC. If I didn't have Left 4 Dead with my friends I'd be sad. PLUS I can get more mileage out of a PC than any consoles since I can easily play games (although pretty crappily) for a while after the next generation.
  16. Sega... why does it have to be this way my old friend?
  17. You control the wind. The gameplay involves moving your flower pedals you collect into other areas to get more pedals. You can usually tell the ones you need to collect because their surroundings are visibly void of life (and this depiction varies by level). By getting all the pedals from individual flowers in these areas you bring life back to that surroundings area. That's the gameplay, it's fun but basically it's collecting things.... but the experience is just... wow. Playing this game is a total joy after blowing through games like Call of Duty and the Killzone 2 demo. It's a breath of fresh air... I really loved the experience. It really reminded me of that feeling I got when I played Ico. It's one of those kinds of games, where the emotion and presentation of it all just really captivating. And there is a subtle story going on that you can only understand after playing it since it is in fact so subtle. You see things while you play in the levels and very gracefully the levels progress into a natural climax that makes sense. It's abstract, but .... damn, it's good, and you feel good once you finished it. That said, it's pretty short as you can blaze through it in 2 hours... but if you take your time and enjoy the sights (which you will, the game is beautiful), you'll add more time to that. It's one of the most emotional and fun experiences I've had in a long time. And there are some really cool sequences when you get the wind to gain a lot of speed and you're going REALLY fast. There's a lot of cool high quality things going on in this simple downloadable title that they didn't really advertise. ... and the credits are pretty damn awesome too.
  18. Hey, cool! I dig it. What are you using to animate this project? Is that Flash?
  19. PILOTWINGS! ROCKET KNIGHT! A new STARFOX that DOESN'T suck balls (gimme my N64 and SNES gameplay back please... no more tank or foot missions... and please remove Krystal.) The final SHENMUE (although, that'll never happen now probably) and last but possibly the game I would want the most. EINHANDER 2
  20. I was on a complete Konami high at the point in my life when Hybrid Heaven came out. I was psyched for it because I'd been playing Metal Gear Solid at the time, but I unfortunately never got to play it (only watched a friend play it briefly). It looked fun. I bought Winback, partially because it was the closest thing to Metal Gear Solid for the 64, and while the gameplay (and gunplay) was pretty fun, some of the level design was pretty bad. Mischief Makers is a gem. A complete gem. <3 I loved every second of playing that game. Since we're throwing memorable 64 games in the ring, I'll give Pilotwings a toss, because of all the old N64 games, to me it still doesn't feel very aged when I play it. A good game. Anyway, back to Hybrid Heaven. I'm really interested in the battle system, and the style of play. The offense/defense switch thing is pretty cool, and I remember there being a ton of moves in the game.
  21. Remember when it was popular on the internet to yell "OLD!" ah, those were the days.
  22. There are a lot of fantastic games coming out on all platforms this year. I'm going to keep my guess that the Wii will continue to dominate everything, with the Xbox360 taking up second. I'm expecting more of the same from the Xbox360 this year. With the Wii... Nintendo needs to announce more hardcore games. Unfortunately, mere announcements will probably mean no new hardcore games until 2010 for the Wii. I wouldn't be surprised for some kind of big franchise announcement... something like Zelda. This is the make or break year for Sony's PS3 imo. They have a lot of high quality titles coming out this year, and if they're unable to capitalize on them in 2009 I don't know what kind of state the PS3 will be in by 2010. God of War III, Killzone 2, Heavy Rain, Uncharted 2, Gran Turismo 5. I'm personally expecting some kind of announcement from Team Ico this year, as they've been working on something for the last two years. I'm very interested in Killzone 2. It seems like a storm started at E3 2005 with that pre-rendered concept trailer, and now almost 4 years later the game is about to be released almost achieving what they were going for in that pre-rendered video. I don't think one single game can turn around any one system, much less the PS3, but the game has been getting a fantastic response from those playing preview builds, and visually, from the preview vids I've watched, I personally feel the game is the best looking console game I've ever seen. I honestly feel that if Killzone 2 completely bombs then the PS3 will follow shortly after. The game is the flagship title that has defined the PS3 ever since 2005. The game must succeed in '09 for Sony. Sony's at a critical point, and they have a lot of AAA games coming out that I'm actually interested in, but at this point for Sony, each set back is a GIANT set back. I'm very satisfied with my PS3, and having owned all the current-gen systems, it's certainly the most robust and quality consoles I've owned; that said, Sony has a lot of work to do. So in 2009, I'm predicting that the PS3 will either be completely trounced, or, while not surpassing the number of 360's, be completely vindicated as a console with a wealth of quality titles. EITHER OR. I don't think there is any gray area this year for Sony.
  23. I don't know if it's been mentioned or not, but the free program "Malware Bytes" does miracles when others seem to fail. I don't know if it will work in this particular situation, but it's a handy little utility that catches (and fixes) things that other programs seem to miss. Good luck getting everything fixed.
  24. I acquired a Final Fantasy standup from a buddy of mine who asked for it from GameStop I think. I hunted down an ooollld promo poster for the original StarFox on the SNES from an old April 1993 GamePro magazine. I have it framed. It makes me very happy. All four of the original Starfox team with Corneria behind them and arwings in the air... in all their muppet looking glory. Game Mags and photoshopping them isn't a bad idea. You can take them down to a good printer and get a good large poster of whatever you want as long as you have a good resolution image. You can find those images from promotional packages that companies give websites... for instance, I found a slew of Metal Gear Solid promo images that are absolutely huge and perfect for printing... there are others as well. Personally, I have a crap load of cutouts from old magazines that I saved as a kid, tons of them. My walls in my room was plastered edge to edge with magazine cutouts of my favorite characters. I'm glad I saved them all, I might throw them all together in a giant collage one day, frame it and be tasteful for once. haha.
