  1. Oh no. Taucer will be alone! Sorry, that I couldn't make it. I had something scheduled on that day right before I found out about this. =( Good luck! Kick some girls' asses! (like a real man.)
  2. The only difference is really architecture. P4 chip is not designed the same as the Athlon. In general, P4 chips are not as great as they can be. I sometimes feel it's just the amount of heat they generate hinders their performance. But even with people with better cooling systems, P4s are a step up from P3s, but aren't as good as equivalents from the competition.
  3. As for recovery/defrag software, I don't really know any free software that does a good job. Usually the ones you have to pay for work well. The only recommendation I have as of right now is O&O. I don't have it myself, but I've heard from numerous sources that it is reliable. Still, I don't know if this will solve your problem. Maybe it is how Suzumebachi said and your hard drive is dying. If that's the case, then there's really no other solution than getting another one. I'd start by checking newegg for some deals, just in case.
  4. Also, you can use meebo as well. I think it's mainly java or javascript that allows you to log into a number of different messaging programs like AIM, Yahoo, MSN, and Google Talk. If you can access a website, you can access meebo as well. It's what I use if I'm on a computer that's not my own. It emulates each program and restricts the windows with in the browser you are using. In that way, it's not as flexible as other programs it's better than nothing without having to install anything. http://www.meebo.com
  5. good date? pixietricks? What can go wrong? (... except for zircon... ) I'll let you know when I find out.
  6. I think the more likely conclusion is that it's located on a bad sector, or soon to be bad sector. I don't really know if a virus would be that "friendly" to only overwhelm your system when browsing a particular folder. And if you've just reinstalled Windows on a fully wiped hard drive, there's even less of a chance for an infection. As for Reason, I don't have any experience with it. Did you make sure to update Windows after reinstalling it? Maybe you're missing some new drivers that allow it to work more efficiently. Just check updates for both Reason and Windows. In general, it sounds like a processing problem... but it should be able to be solved with software, at least in my opinion.
  7. What codecs have you used? Are you using Windows Media Viewer or Media Player. I've never heard of Media Viewer before unless it's the Fax & Image Viewer. I would suggest that you download a codec pack called CCCP. It has a ton of codecs in there and is bundled with 2 players as well. Power DVD 9 is more optimized for... well.. DVDs. If you can't get it to work with CCCP, I really don't know what else you should do, unless you use VLC. But those two solutions are about the same. A probable conclusion is that the video file you want to play is corrupt too.
  8. That's for yourself to decide. I would split it up more evenly though. That would seem more worth switching out the discs. One way or another is not better in any technical way.
  9. I played it for a little while since my friend also got a flash cart for his DS as well. But I didn't really find Point Blank to be as challenging as the arcade version. The games are similar in nature, but somehow the transition from gun to stylus doesn't feel right. I just think that Point Blank is best in the arcade. I haven't played the multiplayer, but I hope they kept in the "Shoot red." Shoot blue." "Shoot everything!"
  10. Funny. I have FFV and I'm trying to pick between FFIV and VI. From the looks of it, I should buy FFVI since I've never owned the original on SNES... though I would buy it if I can find it cheaper than the DS version... but I doubt that's possible. It's pretty much a beloved title by most gamers. There is an offset chance that some unknowing mother is selling her child's games though... hmmm. We shall see. I still have to get through FFV first.
  11. Why are you buying all of this stuff?? I thought you were poor!!
  12. By age 9, Shnab played piano better than I ever could. I should really start practicing again. It's been years... I might have to start all over again. ;_; Shnab should make another video like this now.
  13. You have to manage BitTorrent files now? If you read up on the general method BitTorrent works, you should realize that there really isn't too much maintainence that has to be done. In fact, it could be even said that there only really has to be 1 person with all of the files in a complete torrent (seed) to be able to upload to any number of other people (peers). Aside from creating the torrent file, the only real work that OCR has to do is upkeep on its external tracker. The tracker is what allows seeds to be connected to peers and peers to peers as well. It also communicates between each client what files (or pieces of files) you have available to share and what files you don't have that are specific to that torrent. OCR's BT is no different from any other BT. Only the files that are available are unique compared to others. Reading up on how BT works in general probably might help you more if you don't think I have given you a sufficient explanation.
  14. Jill was only in one RE movie then? I thought she would have a bigger role than that. She was barely present in the second one. I <3 Jill. (She is a member of S.T.A.R.S.) Am I only one waiting for her to say that in RE2? In Marvel vs. Capcom 2 style of course...
  15. You will have to explain a little better. There could be a lot of things that can go wrong. But what exactly are you trying to do? Are you trying to burn a video file so you can view it on your home DVD player or just burning your files onto a DVD as data? One reason you could be burning bad discs is either a bad burner or a bad disc. Reliable brands are Lite-on and NEC, but others work as well. I'm not too sure about quality brand name DVD-Rs, but some have higher quality control than others. Anyway, let's assume you have a good working burner and discs to go with it. Are you burning at the specified speed of the disc? If have you a 8x disc and you're burning it at 16x, then no data actually gets imprinted on the disc or massive errors occur. One way or another, you're not going to get a working DVD. As with burning CDs, burning at slower speeds almost guarantees a good burn. I really don't have too much experience with making DVDs for DVD players. But I think that most video files have to be .avi format. It should be easy enough to find an app to convert. Also, they only accept DVD-Rs, not DVD+Rs.
  16. @Drack: I appreciate the review. This is considering the fact that there are some titles on the DS that I would like to get but are also reincarnations of other titles. The details do matter from one game to another. I think that it's hard to ask for the exact same game but better most of the time. But it's another thing to make a poorly made hash of a remake than making a game with forgiveable mistakes. I know it sounds stupid, but with the Yoshi's Island game on DS. I don't think I want to get it because someone mentioned they took out that water noise. =( I really liked Yoshi's Island for the SNES. It's hard not to be disappointed when you buy a sequel when you loved the previous game so much. Sad but true.
  17. I was just think about this the other day too. I know that Gamefaqs has a similar type of thing, but they tell you the levels and what the requirements are at each level. I don't think it'd be too hard to put this in a FAQ or something. <25 - Nothing +25 - Snacks 'N' Jackson +50 - Dan Hibiki +100 - Goomba +200 - Octorok +300 - Eggplant Wizard +400 - Red Mage +500 - Bad Dude +600 - Abobo +700 - Ryu Hayabusa +800 - Chrono (Crono?) +900 - Little Mac +1000 - Mega Man +1100 - Akuma +1200 - Kraid +1300 - Dr. Wily (Wiley?) +1400 - Mario +1425 - Fire Mario +1450 - Raccoon Mario +1475 - Frog Mario +1500 - Tanooki Mario +1800 - Evil Ryu +1850 - Alex Kidd +1900 - Link +2000 - Luigi +2250 - Ghaleon +2500 - Simon Belmont +2750 - Dracula +3000 - Bonus-kun +4000 - Mother Brain +5000 - Strider Hiryu +6000 - Big Boss +7000 - Joe Musashi +8000 - Ganon +9000 Dark Force +10000 - Sheng Long Junior member: < 30 posts Member: >= 30 posts Senior Member: > 100 posts Whatever.. 18. Yousendit works like this: You give it a file for them to save on their servers. They hold it for certain length of time or number of downloads, and then they give you a link to where that file is located. The whole e-mail recipient is really not necessary as they also send the sender an e-mail with the link where the file is located. So you don't need to fill in an OCR e-mail address in the recipient box. Any address here will do. It would be to your own benefit if you put your own e-mail address in the sender box though. For your case: 1)Put in ANY e-mail address in recipient box. 2)Put in your own e-mail as the sender. 3)Browse your own computer to locate where your WIP is. 4)Click "Sent It' After you upload, Yousendit should give you the link directly where your file is located on their servers. You can now copy and paste this link wherever you choose. In addition, if you put your own e-mail as the sender, you will receive an e-mail from Yousendit that has the link as well. This is good for keeping a record of it so you have access to it.
  19. Don't delete things manually. It will not be completely wiped then. Just format the hard drive using Windows tools (assuming you are using Windows). I think you will need to have to remove any partitions on the drive before formatting it. I can't recall the exact steps, but I'm sure you can use Google. It might be as easy as simply right-clicking the drive in My Computer or Windows Explorer and going to the "Format..." option. If you can't find it there, then go under Computer Management. I'm not on my own computer right now, so I can't verify anything.
  20. I've really got to hand it to Blizzard. They really know how to make their games in a way that the requirements are relatively low (Remember Starcraft?). Of course, this only increases their potential target audience. But it's really nice to know that sometimes you don't need a fancy computer to play a game. But especially with an MMO game, it's important to find some balance between connection and processing power to minimize any horrible bottleneck. But apparently, their servers are the main bottleneck.. or so I've heard.
  21. 0 songs I still own a CD player and still use it pretty frequently.
  22. Well as for actual products, they're pretty generic. Video games/systems - older would be better (NES, SNES, Dreamcast) Computer parts and accessories mp3 players or audio devices As for music, I'm looking into mainly soundtracks but also a site where they have old CD releases as well... something reminiscent of Colubmia House back in the day. For instance, CDJapan has a bunch of OSTs for game/anime titles that aren't readily available here. Outside of Amazon, I really don't know another place I could get older albums released in the US. But if anyone doesn't have any actual sites, I wouldn't mind someone recounting his/her experience with online shopping either. I just need a good grasp on the reliability of online shopping. I know that there have been security measures put into place to prevent identity theft, but some sites are better at protecting user information than others for whatever reasons.
