What will I be doing? How kind of you to ask! I'm going to be at home reading! =*( -
No, I'm not in. I'll just sit here on my throne as SFA3 tournament champ. =)

Apple to remove DRM from iTunes, double encoding quality
Katsurugi replied to zircon's topic in General Discussion
It really depends on what you expect out of your music. If you want CD quality, then you should just buy the CD. It's almost usually the case to purchase your songs piece-wise but still, not always. 99 cents a song is good because you get to pick and choose and it's more flexible where you spend your money. But if you care about quality, then the additional cash might not even worth it. I find that more songs are being put onto albums now then they did before. In a sense, you are getting a better deal than before on CDs and you are assured of CD quality. I guess it's a case by case basis. But I've never really been a fan of buying songs through iTunes or similar programs. Most of my music is in CD form. -
^Just don't lose ever match! ;;

Apple to remove DRM from iTunes, double encoding quality
Katsurugi replied to zircon's topic in General Discussion
There was a bit of a foreshadowing of this when Apple spoke to the New York Times about DRM in general. Ultimately, their sentiment was that it was unfair to the end-user that all of the songs purchased could only be used on Apple products. But to see that they actually did something about it in a fairly short period of time is nothing but a good thing. =) (I still use a CD player myself. ; -
IGN mentioned that there's a unique system and there's a tutorial to help you get acquainted with that. Hmmmmm....... I kind of want something like the original Ninja Gaiden. Maybe I'm a bit of a purist in that sense. But I think this is definitely one of those titles that doesn't have to make use of the stylus if in fact that's what is used in the unique control system. It does look nice.

Guilty Gear X2#Reload is a revision of GGX2. For the casual player, you might not even know the difference. Tiny tweaks have been made in the more advanced gameplay area to make it more balanced. If this is true, then then I would pick up GGX2#R if you're really going to get into the game. I never really picked up GG before, but having played it once or twice, it's not that easy to play off the bat. I feel that it's just a bit weird. My personal opinion is that everyone first start off with Street Fighter and see if they like it. It's really easy even if you are button mashing. You're able to get a good handle on your character and the moves aren't too difficult to pull off. So really the emphasis is on strategy, and it's really fun to figure stuff out by yourself rather than reading a whole bunch of junk online (even though it's out there). But if you can't get into SF, then try KoF which is another beginner friendly fighter as well.

Suikoden II - Anyone actually own it?
Katsurugi replied to Decoy Octopus's topic in General Discussion
My friend has it as well as the strategy guide. He said it's a great game and he has pretty good taste in RPGs. I left me with the impression that he'll probably be buried with it. -

Detective Conan. It's pretty cool... despite it being like 500+ episodes long. But once you get back to the intial character development, it's a great series for you to practice your deductive skills as well as an awesome opening theme that features saxomaphone. You can watch it off and on for who knows how long. I'm going to second Code Geass and Deathnote. Very good. -

In other words: East coast 4 life. -
No love for Riveria? I liked it a lot. Definitely worth a playthrough or two. My friend likes Tales of Phantasia, but it's really not my cup of tea. The fighting system is semi-manual or semi-automatic however you like to think it. I think that's the Tales series in general. But definitely try out Riveria and Harvest Moon. =)

I am now confirming my absence and bumping the topic. There hasn't been too much publicity for this. I guess everyone who posted is pretty much set. Oh well. I guess this is a good thing. You probably won't have to see my ugly face. ;; -
Depending on what the problem might be, there is a very slim chance you can revive it by throwing it in the freezer for a couple of hours. I don't exactly know how much time that'll buy you, but it's worth a try.

You have MvC2 for PS2? Isn't that rare or something? But yeah, slim PS2's probably are better for traveling purposes. I have MvC2, CvS2 and Soul Calibur for Dreamcast... but that's kind of bulky and as I see it, I don't think I'll be able to make it. I have a lot of work ahead of me. -
Majin seems to be on the right track, at least with the lyrics anyway. Your google-fu is weak, zircon. I got this on the first try. Finding a video might be trickier though. Countdown Lyrics by T.I. Using electronics in foreign countries
Katsurugi replied to Final_metroid's topic in General Discussion
You just have to make sure that you know what the voltage rating is over there. Each country has it standardized, but not necessarily with one another. For example, most American electronics can be used in Japan because of the similar voltage rating and vice versa. Personally, I think that you will need either a step-down or step-up transformer and also an adapter for your plug as well. I've never been to China before, I can't give you any more details. -
For under $200 USD, I suggest the Canon A540. Canon's A-series is very good for casual users while allowing some flexibility with it's variety of different modes (easily accessible on a wheel) as well as some albeit limited manual mode. 6 MP and 4x optical zoom. The Nikon "equivalent" would be the Nikon Coolpix L6. 6 MP and 3x optical zoom. The main difference is that the Nikon lacks the convienent wheel for changing modes but also has a huge 2.5" screen. Canon's extra boost with the optical zoom is an added extra. Depends on where your priorities are. It's sometimes very nice to see your pictures on a larger screen. But realize that a larger screen means higher power consumption and thus, lower battery life. I really do like Canon, but that's my own personal preference. The only reason I don't include the other brand names like Sony or Olympus or Kodak etc. is because Canon and Nikon are extremely good at making lenses. Aberrations are less apparent and there is good quality control as well. Sony lenses tend to have some purple fringing. But usually, only nitpicky people tend to notice these slight imperfections. Also note that with any point and shoot (compact) camera, you will get some red eye. In my experience Kodak cameras are pretty good with removing red eye and have exceptional white balance, but are too simplistic in their design. (They need a sports mode at the very least!)

Wow, it seems as if a lot of people like this movie. Anyway, I first saw it last night. I guess I'm a bit late, but I wasn't anticipating it as much as others. I will say that the cinematography, photography, and visuals were stunning. Since it's derived from a graphic novel, it can't be unexpected that the right camera angles were taken. But you can definitely see how something like this can enhance your movie watching experience when done right. There were some scenes that were over the top visually but also pretty as well. For example, the scene where they are around the fire and you can watch the embers dance in the air like fireflies was exceptionally nice if you took notice to it. As a movie, I didn't like it. Though the story was okay, there wasn't enough character development for me to actually care about most of the people except for the main character. I guess as a related note, I found that the fighting took over much the screenplay. I'm fine with that, but it did this to a point where much of the subplots were placed in almost as a last thought. In the end, I felt that the movie was overwhelming testosterone driven. It appeals to the most basic desires of men and this is where the main attraction lies. 300 has a redeeming quality in that in a time of our culture there really is no macho hero type. Ever since Terminator 2, there has been a preference for more slick/clever personalities, whether it be James Bond or even to a certain extent, Neo from The Matrix. It is a breath of fresh air to see a movie that does in fact celebrate brute strength and other masculine pursuits.

OCR AG Tournament: Street Fighter Alpha 3
Katsurugi replied to Arek the Absolute's topic in Competitions
Hey, I would play, but I don't know now at all. Anyway, I think you guys need some structure in the tournament. Even if it's not a lot of people, you could have a round robin and that would be fun too. I guess everyone is going to use Kawaks. The latest version is 1.57. As for me, I'm mad old school and still use version 1.45. Also, just for your information there are multiple versions of SFA3 out there, the "tournament accepted" version is the US one, whose ROM number ID is 980904. @Atmuh: You suck at fighting games. Good luck though. ;; -
Yeah. I think it's been a while since a Wario platformer has been out. Most of this games have been the quirky mini-game type. I remember playing a Wario platformer. It was pretty fun. But I don't know how this one is going to be. I really don't think they had to make use of the stylus though. To change disguises or suits, you have to draw some pattern or design on Wario. Instead, shouldn't you just be able to select it from a menu when you press 'start'?

Fan Art Comptition 9: Metroid [Results]

Maybe I have time to do this over spring break. I have nothing else planned, but yeah. I suck at drawing. If anything, I'll probably post something... possibly made from crayons. -
Search the internet. It's quite easy to find .dll files. Just make sure you know where to put them. That's all. Hopefully that'll solve your audio problem. As for me, the laptop I'm using is 5 years old and has a 20 gig HDD. The fan is loud and it makes a lot of heat. But that's just about the only complaints that I have. Otherwise, it works fine.=)
