  1. You shouldn't have to tweak anything on your video card. Make sure you have updated drivers and the like. But everything should be available using the video card software. Since your computer came with it, it seems as if they want you to be able to use it. So, my assumptions are with some faith in the companies ability to make a quality product. Then again, I rarely deal with laptop video cards. All I know is that it's fairly straight forward with any desktop ATi or Nvidia card. Anyway, it's not as easy as just plugging it in and assuming it will be projected on the other monitor. At the very least, there should be a monitor button on your laptop or keyboard that will direct the signal to the TV-out jack.
  2. That's not a good sign if BIOS can't detect it. At first I thought maybe you put the jumper on the wrong pins, but if it's not being detected at all, it means it's most likely dead(?). Since it isn't being detected at all, then there's no connection between the OS and the hard drive at all. Considering this, it doesn't matter if you turn off the hard drive before you turn off the computer. As a last resort, what I would do is use another OS. I'm assuming you're using a Windows machine. But in any case, I find that any Linux client is pretty reliable at detecting hard drives and other hardware. Grab a live cd of Ubuntu or something like that and see if it detects the HD. If you can't seem to get it started like that, then I would probably forget about any data recovery. From their site you should be able to order live cds and the like for free. You'll just have to wait for it to arrive at your house via mail.

  4. Yeah, people go hardcore on the game. I guess you could. But I really never did. I pick up games fairly quickly, but I don't have any motivation to really master a game. I know SFA3 well enough to exploit the computer AI. But other than that, meh. I'll say I have a winning record against most humans. But it's not really anything notable. (Above 50% is winning.) =) I do not have the time nor the quarters to put into Arcana Heart. But it very well holds my interest. I'm getting bored of the lack of competition of SFA3 and CvS2 where I'm from simply because I can't find others to play it, so I end up playing the comp all the time. I love the feeling when someone puts in the credits and you have no idea what to make of your opponent until the match starts.
  5. Bought it yesterday. Now, beat the 1st gym and on the road to the second one. Most of my pokemon are at least level 10. Did the spelling of Onix's name change? I could have sworn it was Onyx in Red. Anyway, good old Onix/Onyx... I'm thinking I should evolve my Magikarp too, but from my experience that was a lot of work the first time I did it. Anyway, my starter is Piplup and by the way, Bidoof sucks. I leveled him to like 11 and he finally got 'defense curl.' If I could, I'd just dump useful HMs on him and use him as a utility pokemon. I have Geodude though, so I'm sure I can just keep Bidoof in storage. (Bidoofus, amirite, guys?) I tried doing something to get all the starters in the game by having my friend play his version and trading with him. Starly/Bidoof for Chimchar/Turtwig. It does not work. Even if you have the 1st gym badge, your non-original starters will not obey you past level 10. Just telling you if you wanted to know. I don't have anything anyone really wants, I also doubt I'll be trading via wi-fi any time soon. I need to set up my router here and make sure it's compatible.
  6. Are you sure you're plugging it into the right one? You can't just plug one router into another using the "regular" ethernet jack. They usually have an uplink one so you can do this as is my understanding of computators. Hopefully the internet can help you with your troubles. http://www.nintendowifi.com I haven't checked this site yet, but maybe they have some deeper insight to help optimize your connection with your current router.
  7. There really isn't any good server software for Macs, if any. Using the Mac OS, I don't think Apple really wanted to give you the option of doing so without any outside program. I haven't heard of it being done before. But it's always possible. My suggestion, if you have a Mac that has an Intel chip in it, then dual boot using Windows Server 2003 OS.
  8. Makoto is fourth just so you know. A lot of people are bored with Yun despite being considered top. Not saying people don't use him, but I don't find a majority of people playing as him. Ken is fairly easy to pick up which is why I think there are a lot of Ken players. As for Chun Li players, I think you have to be very self-conscious of throwing out whiffs and baiting. (Everyone does c.MK into super.) As for Makoto, the one move that makes her a huge threat is her grab/choke move. It takes off a bit of damage, and you can get off an extra hit right after too. This follow up hit takes off a lot more than you'd think. For extremely awesome videos of Makoto, hit up youtube and search for a Japanese Makoto player named J. I offer this good vid. Also because I hate Hugo. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BiJhHMgLRK8
  9. If anyone has played the stepfile for Ayumi Hamasaki's Naturally, yeah. It's really fun. I usually have to play it once when I start up Stepmania.
  10. SvC: Chaos is okay. I don't particularly like it because it's made in the SNK fashion, meaning the bosses are crazy cheap and read your inputs. And what was the deal with Violent Ken? Personally, I don't like the game because the Capcom characters seem underpowered. At the very least, Ryu should be give and take the same amount of damage as Kyo.
  11. My Dreamcast library is almost solely fighters. SFA3, DoA2, Soul Calibur, Marvel vs. Capcom 2, Capcom vs. SNK 1, and Capcom vs. SNK 2. That's good enough for me. I was going to get Rival Schools or Last Blade 2, but the reviews seem kind of iffy compared to the other games I have. As for SF3: 3S or DI, it's just hard to come across... and I do somewhat care about accuracies in the arcade and Dreamcast version. Sometimes they are not perfect.
  12. Man.. I wanted to be the first to identify it. You can get the game for either Dreamcast or PS2, I believe. Both games aren't particularly well made (imbalance), but the characters are unique and different compared to other fighters. As for the manga, it's your classic shounen manga with a lot of action and fighting and... some other stuff too, but I won't get into that too much.
  13. Tsugaru is always good. There's a really sweet remix called apple something or other. It appeared on Beatmania IIDX version... 10? I don't remember the details but the remix was awesome. Bag! That's one of those songs where you hvae to use speed mods. I have to play it on 3x for it to be readable. I thought I could do 2x, but it's a bit of a strain. I think I mentioned how ITG is before. Anyway, if you have played a good amount of DDR, you kind of can gauge the difficulty of a song. There are some songs even on DDR where it doesn't seem consistent, like Sync on standard being 7 feet when it really is just a 5 or 6 foot song but at a higher BPM. Really though, the number of feet have a correlation to the type of steps you can expect, simple beats, triplets, gallop steps, off beat steps. Along with the song profile, (stream, chaos, air, etc), it's a very good way to determine how hard the song is. When you move from one game to another and say, "I could do so-and-so footer on DDR" and select the same number of bars of difficulty in ITG, you'd find it more difficult to pass those songs. So it's important to know how the difficulty translates to one game to the other or else you're just wasting money. As for the set up, it's the same, except for the fact that ITG has a slightly larger screen. The arrows point in the same direction, the bars attached to the pads... The songs are a bit longer when compared to the standard 1.5 minute songs on DDR.
  14. Good song selection to remix! I've always liked music from Perfect Cherry Blossom. However, I felt that though you did a good job in interpreting it, it's just.... too... short. Some piano would be a nice touch.
  15. and Reuben Kee was mentioned too... why don't you acknowledge him too?! It's okay, Reuben. I got your back.
  16. Mugen is a terrible fighter. It's more like a make-your-own fighter which really doesn't pan out as well as it should since people don't quite thing about balance between the characters. When a character is built, they have a particular moveset and voila, you can play as them as long as they have a sprite sheet. Initially, it's fun because you can play as almost any character you want. But since there is extreme imbalance, it's no fun at all. Some are completely helpless and you'd have to block most of the time and just wait for your chance to deal little damage. Go ahead and play it though, it'll let make you appreciate how well thought out fighting games have to be. I've played Arcana Heart. It's deeper than you'd think just at first glance. The homing system is pretty nice but takes some time getting used to. I hear that it's going to be featured at Tougeki already which is pretty amazing since it hasn't been out for a long time. It plays kind of like X-men vs. Street Fighter. A lot of damage should be done in long chains or combos, rather than exchanging hit for hit. It has a huge screen as well, dashing only take one bar and you can go for as short or as long as you'd like if you just hold down the D button. It makes sense in the end. But I find that most of the match doesn't make use of the large screen, mainly the bottom 1/4 of it.
  17. Despite there being a large number of seeds and peers, you can be left out. It's a funny thing. Theoretically, you should be able to get some piece of the pie no matter how small. However, with the advent of different clients, some things get lost in translation. You will find that computers using a particular client will be more likely connect to other computers using the very same client. Certainly there is overlap between clients, however, I feel that if you pick up a popular client, then you should be able to download/upload more files easier. As far as I know, BitLord isn't as popular as other clients such as BitComet, Azereus, and uTorrent. Have you tried the stock BT client? Maybe you'll have more luck with that.
  18. I wasn't implying that you were Atmuh. I have seen Atmuh play DDR in real life. Just commenting that he is awkward.
  19. Oh, you kiddies. I remember my first S. That's right, even before there was AA, there was S. Good times. Full comboing doesn't necessarily guarantee you anything. It's just greats and above. It'll get you at least a B. Back in my day, we used to try to get Full Goods... which is a lot harder than it sounds because the time interval to get a good is actually shorter than getting a perfect. It doesn't yield a good grade of course, but you just have to appreciate it. I'm kind of leaning towards becoming more freestyle than technical though. Then again, I do need to get into shape, so playing harder songs wouldn't hurt either. Oh yeah, Atmuh, you look funny when you play DDR. It's almost as if you're going to fall off of the pads at any moment. But you're definitely hitting the arrows right.
  20. Isn't there already two brawler type games for the DS? Jump Superstars and Jump Ultimate Stars or something. So yes, they could make a SSB type game for DS. It would probably be a bit like the N64 version. The Jump series has a ridiculous amount of characters but you can only play as a fraction of them. The others come in the form of helper characters with assists like in MvC1. I hope they don't though, because that will hurt the reputation of SSB overall. Since it's a console game, you don't have to worry about lag which would severely hinder the overall gaming experience.
  21. ITG = In the Groove. It's essentially a version of DDR published by an American company. It paid to get some songs that were on some previous DDR mixes which is probably my only motivation to play it. However, ITG is significantly harder than DDR. An 8 or 7 on ITG is about a 9 or 10 footer on DDR. The difficulty goes up to 15, if I remember correctly, not 10. I find that the game just revolves around the difficulty. BPM is pushed up, and there are times you have to press three or even all four arrows at the same time. Practically speaking, I wouldn't want to play it because I might hurt myself just playing a game. That's not something I really want to think about when I'm playing a game just to have fun. As for DDR, I really liked Extreme. Supernova isn't quite bad but neither is it good either. There are some songs that make it worthwhile to play like Doll by Terra. Other than a few songs here and there, Extreme was a more solid songlist with a lot more enjoyable songs. On any given day, I can pass most 7 or 8 foot songs. I've never really passed anything higher without a stroke of luck. The last time I did play Max before, it was after not playing it for a long while and since I can't really pass 9 or 10s in the first place, I failed. Those are the only real songs I play while holding the bar. Cost? Same as Atmuh I guess. 1 dollar for 3 songs, which sucks terribly. Before at my local arcade, they had 1 dollar for 5 songs for Extreme, but replaced it with Supernova so it's more expensive. I can spend that same dollar at Chinatown Fair and play Extreme but still for only 3 songs. I just don't want to pay the higher price from a dollar for 5 songs... Favorites, anyone? (I'm keeping this to a minimum because there are a lot songs in general.) Ever Snow Freckles Ghosts Silent Hill (remix) Sakura Mahou no Tobira (Magic Door) Petite Love Tears Tsugara Dam Dariram B4U Brilliant2U Shock (3rd Mix version 2 Korean)
  22. Arek has conceded. In a fateful AIM conversation that I had with him. I will accept my Summon Night: Swordcraft Story for 7 dollars now. =)
  23. They sell the light blue ones at Nintendo World? Hmm... I never noticed before. I guess my friend will be happy to hear the news then.
