  1. Well, I would probably burn it to CD so I'd have physical back up. Then from that, I would rip it with EAC and download a LAME encoder. You could alternatively convert flac files to mp3. I'm not too sure what I would use for that. EAC doesn't natively support it, I don't think. But just google some conversion programs.
  2. eBay auction. It was one of those mothers selling her child's stuff type of deals. $50 which includes shipping Dreamcast (with cables) 2 controllers Marvel vs. Capcom 2 Grandia 2 Dead or Alive 2 Fighting Force Two other games I can't recall. Totally worth it.
  3. It's just one of those games. I've beaten it once, and maybe got close to beating it again. After I beat it though, I never really felt the need to play it again. There are a lot of games that I do play almost randomly, but I won't include games that I play with other people, just the ones I play through the actual story mode. NES: Super Mario Brother 3 Tetris Dr. Mario SNES: Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Quest Zelda: A Link to the Past Super Mario Kart F-Zero U.N. Squadron Chrono Trigger Secret of Mana Megaman X Megaman X2 PC: Warcraft 2 Starcraft Diablo 2 Dreamcast: Capcom vs. SNK 2 Marvel vs. Capcom 2 (haven't unlocked everything yet) At the moment, I can't think of any more. There are some games I can't play through since I don't own them. But outside of the PC games and RPGs, I can beat all of the games in a day. I actually played a little of DKC2 the other week and I got through two 'worlds' in an hour. I still remember where the Kremkoins and DK coins are. ;_;
  4. All right. I've got my final plans already ironed out. I will arrive at the station probably around 11:44 AM or so that's what the schedule tells me. I would like to stay for the BBQ, but I have to catch a 8:00 PM train at the 30th St. Station. I'm not too sure how well that would fit in. It all really depends on the timing. Heating up the grill and cooking takes time and all of that jazz. I would hate to go to Ardmore only to have to return after 15 minutes. So yeah, we'll see how it goes. Anyone bringing Guitar Hero stuff? I think that would be quite suitable. DJP: I will require a total of TWO large dark blue hoodies. I've realized that they don't come in black, but it would have been pretty cool if they did. Please respond so I know that you've read this post.
  5. Yeah, Olympic trials! They are so good. I love rings, pommelhorse and uneven bars. I wish I had TV at school. ;_; In other news, I feel like garbage. I think last week, I didn't quite do as much as I could. I tried to set up an alternating schedule. The first would be weight heavy and no running, where the next would be a lot of running and little weights. I don't think that worked out for me too well. So starting today, I'll be running a mile every day for a warm up if I'm not going to be running 2+ miles. I think I've scaled back my running to 2.5 miles. Between all of the walking and standing around I do on the weekends, I just can't do that half mile more for an even 3. :\
  6. I need to work on my lower abs and also obliques. Everything else seems to be doing just dandy. The exercise I was doing for obliques doesn't seem to isolate them as much as I thought, or maybe I'm not doing that part of the exercise slow enough. Most likely, it's the latter. I just want my abs to be a little more defined. But I haven't been doing enough. The decline sit ups are good, but I feel as if I'm putting a lot of stress on my back. As for my update on handstands, I am getting better at falling over. Before, I was a bit scared and was too reliant on the wall. But I am more comfortable now with getting off of it even if it means failing horribly. I need more fingertip strength... >_>
  7. Yes. There is a difference between the different brands. Usually, Nvidia or ATI gives them the basic architecture to build the cards and there are minute changes in how they implement it to make the card. Since it's all based on the same architecture/technology, the model numbers are all the same. I have a XFX card for my 8600GT. But usually, you would want to pick something like eVGA because they're awesome. Their cards aren't top of the line or anything, but they do work. The main reason to pick them is that they have a lifetime warrant which is something the other companies don't. Video cards are expensive and you don't want to pay for another one if it breaks.
  8. I'd first just figure out the costs of driving versus train. But with a train, you wouldn't have to worry so much about getting to the station. You would have to be confined to a train schedule on the way there and on the way back. That's probably the main disadvantage of using the train. Money is probably the only thing you need unless you want to bring other stuff to keep you entertained on the train or whatever. @ djp: I will require a large black hoodie. Bring one at the very least if you're not already bringing a box for Kroze. I probably won't be able to stay overnight. I have a lot of stuff I need to take care of before going back to school on the Monday after. I still really need time to think about it. I hate cramming in stuff all in one day. I'll let you guys know at the end of the week. It's too early to tell yet. But sleeping in an empty apartment is fine with me.
  9. You should probably take a day off or something. Hiking or just even walking a lot takes a lot out of you. I did a bunch of walking in the city yesterday, 4-5 hours and I don't think my feet have recovered yet. I'm questioning whether or not to run a mile or so today on top of doing weights. It's probably not a good idea.
  10. So yesterday was probably the worst day in my "career" as a photographer. My model was supposed to meet me at Coney Island at 3 PM. I had to stop off at school and then take the PATH train into Manhattan and then take a subway train to Brooklyn. All of this probably took me about 3 hours and 30 minutes. I arrived late. I was glad that she didn't arrive yet as I hate to keep other people waiting. I call her and find out where she is and she's being very vague. At some later point in time, she says that she'll arrive at 5. All the meanwhile, the sun outside was fairly good and constantly taunting me. Anyway, long story short, she never arrived. It was around 6:30 when she was about 15 minutes away. By then the sun had gone and it became very hazy out. There was no point in taking pictures at all that day. I have better things to do rather than sit in a subway station for an hour and a half. Maybe this is why I never shot portraits before. People suck. I should probably stick with my landscape and architecture stuff.
  11. I watched this movie in a midnight viewing with a friend since we watched the previous Hulk movie together. This was definitely better than Ang Lee's version. It incoporated a lot of different aspects of the character from different interpretations. As a whole, it was really a treat for Marvel fans and that's why I liked it. They poked fun at themselves at certain moments, but also had enough drama and action to keep it moving. For example, honoring the purple shorts and also the pizzeria, Stanley's, which I am going to say is a play on words for Stan Lee's. Though the script could have been better, I don't think it would have completely changed the movie. In the action scenes, I really do like the fact that they do go out of their way to add in moves from the fighting games like MvC2. Personally, I find the Hulk to be a rather boring character when compared to other Marvel characters. So there's really not too much you can draw from when doing a feature film on him. Because of this limitation, I think that the best Hulk movie can't possibly be better than the best Ironman movie. But it can be good in its own right. For this film, I think that if you are a true comic book fan, then you will like it, if not love it. As an outsider not familiar with anything at all, you will probably not like it or find it mediocre at best.
  12. Come on.. give it a chance! Just one listen through and you'll be hooked. http://www.ocremix.org/remix/OCR00015/
  13. I don't hate Madden. There really is no reason for me to since I don't play sports games in general. But I find that EA specializes more in manufacturing than anything else. I guess it's like going to see a famous sculpture in real life and then going to the museum store and finding miniature plastic injection moldings of the same sculpture. EA will find a way to make money off of genius and skill, but it is very hard for themselves to create an entirely original product. Practically, video gaming is a business like any other and though there are some that view it more as an art, the business/financial aspect cannot be avoided. However, this makes it enter a completely different arena in which corporate bullying and takeovers are a reality. I noticed that EA's overall practice has been to absorb any companies that may produce a threat or cut into their profits. EA is allowed to do this due to its sheer size. Once they obtain a developer, they mix around teams and such in hopes to produce a uniquely EA game. However, when they do this, a mental or even a philosophical change occurs within the team which usually results in a dilute version of the initial vision of the game/series/franchise. Some games produced by EA have benefited such as The Sims. Being the highest selling game in history, I don't think it would be possible without EA's marketing power. Though, I do object to EA's shameless endorsement which has led to The Sims 2 H&M edition. In essence, I think that EA is to video games as Microsoft is to computer applications. Yes, both are very large and powerful and widespread throughout the community. But it will take a truly innovative and revolutionary company to be able to resist the sway of either's influence. I just really hate bullying in any shape or form. I do express more hate for EA than Microsoft since they are more persistent in their advances. In their more recent headlines, they attempted to gain Take-Two under their wing shortly before the release of GTA4 to get a piece of the profits. To me, that just sounds really shady. Take-Two has rejected their offer on numerous occasions, but EA has not accepted this response. No means no, EA. Maybe this is how it is in business all the time. I don't know. But it really seems turbulent in the computer and video gaming fields. Maybe perhaps the government is partially to blame for not enforcing rules on these hobbyist industries from the start.
  14. I don't have any suggestions but this: check your hardware. RAM is often an issue when it comes to errors when booting up. Either one of the sticks is fried or it's just not sitting right. If RAM is the problem, then your situation is probably the former, rather than the latter. For right now, I would leave the RAM in there (assuming you have more than one stick), but I would take it out and then put it back in, just in case. If you have working sticks lying around, that would be ideal. But technology moves so fast that even if I do, they're not compatible with the mobo! Also check your power supply as well. I've had a similar sort of issue where the power supply would be fine for getting to the Windows boot screen, but the computer would shut down before actually loading the OS (which takes significantly more work than displaying a green load bar). Sniff around and try to detect the smell of burnt electronics. Also try to see if the fan inside the power supply spins after turning on the computer. It should be the first thing that happens (unlike the processor fan which apparently has some delay on my computer). If this is the case, you can double check the prognosis by going to Circuit City or Best Buy and buying a power supply there and return it the next day. It'll run you about 40-60 dollars depending on the wattage. A high quality one is not necessary, but you would need one that can support your graphics card, processor, etc. If you are unsure about what wattage you need, go here: http://educations.newegg.com/tool/psucalc/index.html If you want my opinion on what happened, it sounds like your video card tried to pull more power from the power supply than it could give. As for heat, your computer's idle temp, 50 C, is actually higher than 95 F. I wouldn't blame it on the weather, Andy. Personally, I feel that relatively high temperature of your computer would only affect the longevity of the parts rather than their immediate performance. If it's not the hardware, then I'm not too sure where the problem is.
  15. This warm and gentle remix has recaptured the precious moments that we've all had with SnappleMan's mom and I would like to thank OA for making it. Though I did enjoy the first listen of this remix, I find that there is a little more to be desired. Yet, I also feel that pursuing something more "interesting" would also take away from the dreamy and fantasy type feeling. For things like this, just keep it the way it is and let other people sort it out. Both OA's name and the title of the remix caught my attention when downloading this piece as I liked his remix from Phoenix Wright before. It definitely is different, but in a good way. I am looking forward to more OA ReMixes in the future!
  16. Yesterday, I did not go to the gym. Between not having enough to eat for lunch and not being able to sleep very well lately, I thought it would be a bad idea to strain my body. Also, having a hunger headache more or less completely incapacitates me. Today I will go to the gym. Bench press, 4x12 @ 55-60 lbs. Inclined bench press, 4x12 @ 55 lbs. Declined situps, 100x Bicep curls, 4x12 @ 25 lbs. Run, 1.5 miles. ^not too sure if I'm using it right or not, but I mean 4 sets of 12 reps. I have also found out last week that I can run 3 miles. That will probably be my new distance to cover. But on my more weight intensive days, I will run less for at least some sort of a warm up.
  17. The only game that I'm seriously playing right now is Phoenix Wright, the entire series. I am at Trials and Tribulations right now. It's been months since I had to play a game. Even after beating Justice for all, I was kind of gamed out for a little while and didn't have too much time to play anyway. It just worked out like that. Though after getting back in, I went straight to another PW game! I should really finish up FFV and Pokemon Diamond but my characters/pokemon are too low leveled. I tend to rush through RPGs and have low level games in general, but the odds are really stacked against me this time. After Trials and Tribulations, then FFV. Then I don't know what game I should finish play or start. Starting new games is always fun! But sometimes I get stuck and I'm too stubborn to do gamefaqs. It's just not the true gamer way. I also have Warcraft 3 and Half Life 2 still on tap. I guess I could play them, but I already played through War3 once before but that was just an unofficial version. That particular one came out with these figures and had two of the campaigns switched.
  18. It seems as if all of the Greyhound stations in Philly are near Metro stations as well. At the very worst, you are a subway ride and transfer over to 30th St. Station. The best case scenario is if you are dropped off at 30th St. which is a Greyhound bus stop. The only catch is that there is no actual station there. It just lets you get off. The main Greyhound station is around 11th St. which is a block away from the subway on the Market-Frankford Line. Two other stations are located on Broad street. If at the North Broad Street Station, you would proceed to the Olney Transportation Center and take the subway south to City Hall on the Broad St. Line and transfer to the Market-Frankford Line. Conversely, if you are the South Broad Street Station, you will take the Broad St. Line north to City Hall and then transfer over to the Market-Frankford Line. http://www.septa.org/maps/click_map.html I have only been to Philadelphia twice before and have a very shallow understanding of their system and city... but this seems like the right way to go.
  19. It depends on what kind of bus it is. I would imagine that most buses would stop near or around the 30th St. Station which is the meetup location!
  20. It's Philadelphia, so I'm sure that there's a train that goes there. It all just depends on where you're leaving from exactly. Personally, I think that trains can get to be very costly. But that all depends on what rail you use and how far you're traveling. If you are traveling that far, then you probably also have to find some place to stay too unless you plan on staying awake the entire time and only sleeping on the train. Figure out the costs for both plane and train. As you book tickets closer to the date, the prices skyrocket. A month in advance should give you a moderate price for plane tickets. Trains on the other hand are running all the time and are pretty much a flat fee. Considering that it's already June. Do it ASAP! How far is Center City? I thought you guys were going to have a breakfast around 11 or 12. Dyne just has to wake up earlier.. But it seems as if spork can host him... if all goes well.
  21. Yeah, Mustin. Let's bring this thread back on target! Whoever mentioned Touhou is stupid anyway.
  22. Monkey Island 2: "You fight like a dairy farmer!" "How appropriate. You fight like a cow." Monkey Island 3/Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade/Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine/Full Throttle/Sam'n'Max: Hit the Road: "I'm selling these fine leather jackets. Zelda/Super Paper Mario: "I am Error."
  23. Touhou games really aren't that demanding. They're really like old DOS-type games if you ask me. I think that any computer in the last 6 maybe even 8 years should be able to run Perfect Cherry Blossom. My laptop runs it fine and it's only 1.6 ghz, and has 256 mb of ram. I played it even before my RAM upgrade when I only had 128 mb too. Go find a shareware demo and install it. It's easy enough to do.
