  1. Happy Birthday Harmietricks! Or is it Pixony? Either way, it's a really lame way to say happy birthday!
  2. Aside from the Midi Samurai Pizza Cats, Chocobo, and FF Fanfares, my most recent addiction is the radio version of Still Alive. I am quite happy with it.
  3. I'm under the personal opinion that you can pretty much pick up any game and get a sense for the series. If you wanna start where it all started, go for Red/Blue. You want it a little more refined? Silver/Gold. Apparently Ruby/Sapphire is the black sheep of the family (I kind of have to agree, I never got into the game as much). Maybe you want the original, but don't wanna play through the next generations to see what they improved, then go Firered/Leafgreen. But in all honesty, since the idea of trading is pretty big in the games, I think you would get the most enjoyment out of getting Platinum when it comes out. It's not as though you'll really be 'missing' anything in not playing the older generations, except maybe the, 'This is where it all started' feeling.
  4. The song accomplishes what it sets out to do, which is obviously a good thing. Nowadays it's very basic, but that isn't entirely a bad thing. I found the mix to be pretty enjoyable, and worth holding on to. A nice start to it all.
  5. What I love about this mix is that it completely expands on the desolate emotions of the original, but does so in a completely different way. The original focused more on the solo sounds, where Star's mix fills up the soundfield. Lovin' it. Great job.
  6. I wanna see it saying the Nommining of Sprinkles.
  7. Single Awareness Day A.K.A SAD That would be me
  8. Anyone else picturing a Daytona USA flood like the Radical Dreamers flood of yore?
  9. Great job ladies, and congratulations Nicole on your first mix! The lyrics are wonderfully written, and Starla's vocals are very smooth and clean. Love Nicole's style; industrial and electronica combined very well together. The only part on not really crazy about is the drop of almost everything at 3:44. I feel like it loses a little too much momentum, and it takes a little while to gain it back. When it does, however, it's still awesome. This makes me want to get the CT mix done now!
  10. I'm not crazy about the synth used for the melody. Either it needs something to to be done to it, or something else should be used, because it got rather dull quickly. Some variation would have been nice as well. Sound effects were pretty cool. I'm not usually a fan, but they worked in this particular mix, and the doppler effect on the cars was a nice touch. My favorite part was the last run through of the melody at about 3:20. The background harmony added that nice little touch which was cool. Wish that had been done earlier, and more done to the end, with the amount of repetitions there were.
  11. Drum work is what really brings this mix up. It's never the same for more than a moment, which is awesome. The intro is strange, but somehow works for this mix, so I'll take it, although it makes me raise an eyebrow. Bassline is pretty rockin' too. What bothers me is the melody is straight up, and is rather dull if you listen just for it. Why spend so much time with all the other elements, but not spruce up the core? The other thing would be the ending, which is abrupt. Not the worst ending out there, but there could be a better way to end it. Overall, worth a listen.
  12. Reiterating here. Guitar=awesome. Sound=shit. Arrangement=short! Longer, better, more awesome to be had. As is...it leaves a sour taste. Something you want more of, but without the bad recording quality.
  13. The thread title says to inquire within about a release date? Is it coming soon?
  14. I LOVE the piano part at 4:17 or so combined with the bassline. Such a great moment, it gives me chills. Fantastic drumwork as always, and the synth lines really work to bring everything together. Can't wait to hear more from you. In fact, when are we going to finally collab on something? I have to be honest, I'm not entirely sold on some parts of the mix (some of the stranger parts kinda bring me out of the 'awesome trance'), but overall it's so very well done that it's quite enjoyable none-the-less. Great work, man!
  15. Not in the slightest. The Pokemon forum was pure boredom at my summer job. And then they reset the...200ish posts I had just to be like LOL. The irony of this is that I will get my 1000th post trying to defend myself about not posting too much
  16. The intro grates on my nerves every time I listen to it. I feel like I can't blame anyone, either, it's frustrating. Anyways, this is a really good tribute mix. Great style adaption on Mustin's part to really fit McVaffe's style. My favorite part is the piano break at 1:40. Transition is perfect, and the arpeggiated background fits just right. Also, the bass is rockin' Sounds are old nowadays, but still a good fun listen.
  17. No kiddin'. Wouldn't have guessed based off the melody.
  18. My theory is they are actually waiting until this thread gets 10000 posts. Also in the stipulations are that more than 75% of them must be about when the project is going to release.
  19. Nice piano work. I love piano mixes. Flutes are an added bonus. Complete vibe change on the source, I like it. Very contemplative, very pretty. It certainly doesn’t make me think of evil dragons and such. Nice work.
  20. Everyone’s favorite source from Mega Man 2 is definitely a main part of this mix. Not much in a change from the source, aside from a couple original sections. More of that would have been nice. My biggest problem with the mix overall is that the two themes are placed side by side. There might as well have been two separate mixes, rather than one after the other. The harmony in the high line that compares to the ‘flute’ that starts the Flashman theme is my favorite part of the mix overall (3:07 or so). Too bad it only lasts about four seconds. Sounds are not great, but overall I don’t mind them. More an age thing than anything else, so I won’t fault. Percussion overall is pretty complimentary, and doesn’t get repetitive. Overall, it doesn’t stand out as the best mix of either theme, and honestly could have been two separate mixes, but it’s worth a listen.
  21. I never liked the original source, or the area in the game, but this mix gives the song an entirely new flavor that I can appreciate, even if I’m not overly crazy about it. A nice, breathy, flute takes the melody, and the guitar work in the background is a great fit. Brass/orchestral hits sound a little fake, but they are passable. Drum work is mostly background, but in a good way, nicely done on those. The slower tempo makes for a more contemplative feeling which I like. I would have liked more dynamic variation overall; there wasn’t much change going on. Especially around 3:15 or so when the flute goes into the second part of the source. A crescendo into that would have been nice. Good work, not my favorite source, but still an enjoyable listen, and a good change from the original.
  22. The entire mix seems quiet to me. I would have liked everything up a notch or two. Choice of instruments is great; guitar, violin, and piano are always a good combination, especially for the more emotional settings like this one. I like the melody for this one, but I honestly can’t place it. I’ll have to go back to the source. I’m a sucker for harmony, and 2:10 is great to me. Easily my favorite part of the entire piece. Nice work.
