  1. All respect to CotMM, but his stuff has never really sat with me all that well, and this one isn't really an exception. I can kind of see what he's going for, but I just can't find myself sitting down and enjoying this. The distortion really sealed the deal for me on it, aside from the over rush feel that CotMM was going for. Sorry man, just not what I'm looking for.
  2. DJP's comment about Link getting sugar from Zelda made me facepalm. Anyways...Not familiar with the source, so going by what I hear I'm liking the funky groove. The droms are very classic for the style, and while by todays standards are subpar, I can see these sounding pretty good for when they came out. The slap bass solo really stands out, although I would have liked it to come out more, it's a little too far back in the soundscape to really shine. Overall the dynamics remain mostly subdued throughout. More variation would have added some life to this and kept it going strong. Aside from those points, a groovy little piece.
  3. You can't download the tracks individually from the website and throw them on a CD?
  4. My first mix was posted on my brother's birthday, but that was just strange coincidence. Especially since it was dedicated to my parents for their anniversary. All in all, the mix postage rate seems to be on the uptrend along with cleaning out the "older" accepted mixes, which I am liking. Oh, can 'Rhymes' be posted on my birthday? That would be awesome. =P
  5. Aside from a very couple sections that present some original material (if memory serves me, it's been a long time since I listened to any Tetris music), this is fairly straight-up. Sounds don't impress me much, this didn't age very well. Honestly have to say this is more meh overall IMO.
  6. What I love about this mix is the transition. The fade in works just right for this song. I wish it had gone further, really transitioning into something totally new, or a crazy new style or something. Overall you don't hear much change in the melody piano, which is what gets me. But man, that transition is great.
  7. Unfortunately, this one doesn't compare to the FF ROBOVoice. That being said, it still has its charm, and is a nice razz to Capcom. I understand the voice is computorized, but the lack of emphasis on the right syllables still bothers me. Cute mix, a funny listen, but nothing compared to the ChocoRoboVoice (much more fun to say that too).
  8. Very Halloween(y). Personally I could hear this blasting at a party. Boom tss gets annoying quickly, but given the age of the mix I'll forgive it. Overall it feels cute, somehow...or I'm just tired.
  9. For it's age, the samples on this remain pretty decent. Certainly there would be a big improvement if it were mixed now, but nothing stood out as even remotely 'bad' in terms of sound quality. Overall this fells flat, and OA hit it on the head that the dynamics (or lack thereof) are to blame. Some crescendo swells and subtle pull backs would have really done a number to bring this to life. The part writing is good, sans a couple flute runs that felt a little strange to me. This is a pretty piece that I won't mind holding onto.
  10. The first thing that I thought when hearing this is that it is loaded with sound. Musically it just feels...full. Great job filling, practically literally, the soundscape. The entire mix is driving, which is great in that it never loses intensity. Also, despite hearing the same melodic line more than a few times through the piece I never found it to be repetative. Catchy, dancy, good job!
  11. I'm going to start with the gripes, then go to the good. I'm feeling the smooth jazz in the sax, but I can't say the piano really gives off that vibe. I would ahve liked the piano to throw in a few more chords to seal the deal. That and I felt like the sax was going to jump into a Christmas song at one point (don't ask me why, I'm just weird like that). Ok, the good. This is real smooth. Very sexy, and the flow is awesome. Did I mention how smooth this is? Both artists work very well together, and overall I'm loving how this transforms the original. Dshu needs to write duets like this more, because he definately has a good talent for it. Nice work!
  12. Im almost bothered by the beginning being so misleading, but Bladiator makes up for it in the end. I'm really digging this bassline and percussion, they really keep the mood going while the violin and accordian fight it out. Very nice.
  13. More than 2/3 of the song goes by before we here the melody. I'd definately want that to be earlier, as my lack of focus made me nearly forget that I was listneing to a mix with the intent to review before it came in. The background gets repetative, I would do something to change it up, return back, etc. Just more new stuff to keep me interested. Overall the melody is catchy, and the bassline is pretty cool. I could see a lot of potential for more development going on here. Overall, a fun listen.
  14. Repeating others. This doesn't hold up well to time, but there is a foundation here that could be used to bring the mix much further than it is. Samples really drag things down here. The ending is ridiculously ubrupt. I actually had to stop for a second and process that it ended. Overall not too interesting for me, but it would be promising with updated sounds and overall be more fleshed out.
  15. I spent about 3/4 of the mix waiting for a treble instrument to come in with a melody before it happened. Interesting approach, but as OA has said, this gets repetative pretty quickly. When most everything drops out my attention was caught for a moment. Would have liked that to be a transition into something new instead of building back to more of the same. Catchy, but very repetative.
  16. This is a catchy mix, as per most of Mr Anso's work. The electronica mood really adds a nice touch to this, making it that much bouncier. Nice drumwork by all around!
  17. This has a lot more melody than I was expecting from a game called "Hitman", but I guess that's just me assuming. This has a surprisingly almost triumphant feel to it, which I find pretty neat. The brass hits add a really nice flavor, I'm definately a fan of that. Overall, I feel like there wasn't much in the way of direction of the piece, but it doesn't bother me that much in the end. Just something I noticed while listening. That and the beginning got just a tad (and I mean a very little) repetative. Other than that some nice work!
  18. You better have the most awesomest birthday ever. You definately deserve it!
  19. This was such an easy track for me to do, I wish all collabs went together this smoothly. OA's work is fantastic, I especially love the overall creepy atmosphere. Thanks, dude!
  20. I don't know why I was thinking this would be more atmospheric based on the description. I make bas assumptions, I guess. Anyways, that aside, this track is an interesting listen. It's hard to categorize it. I'll stick with calling it creepy. Things are a little bit too dissonant for my tastes (and strange, not gonna lie), but it's obvious there was a lot of work put into this, and it shows.
  21. There is a corner store where I teach trumpet lessons that sells Key Lime Pie Soda. Yes, you read correctly. Tastes pretty good, too.
  22. I will be anticipating this, because I love the original. Sounds like a good start so far!
