  1. I'm still laughing at DJP's response. Anyways, a huge congratulations to Andrew and more congrats to his wife! (she's the one who had to do the hard work, and all)
  2. Does this mean I've lost my place as the token female?
  3. I think it's more that there shouldn't be ONLY Jedi in the game. Someone mentioned that they are planning on making the non-Jedi characters equally fun, which is what they need to do. If it turns out that people only play Jedi, then the game will be a bunch of clones running around, which would be more boring.
  4. When I first played Star Wars Galaxies I really liked it. I want to say it was the summer of 04? Something like that. Anyways, played for the summer, made a spear weilding creature tamer with bio-engineer side job. Essentially high damage hitter with my own tanks to take damage. Played for the entire summer, then left it alone for the college year. Next year, they revamped the combat. Pets became practically useless, and they all but did away with the creature tamer class. Also, pikemen became tanks with average damage, which my character wasn't set up for. So....he was absolutely, completely useless. I didn't even play more than a day. It was really sad. As for the new one, I'm interested, but I'm trying not to get sucked back into MMO's. We'll see how that goes...
  5. OA's review made me laugh. Now I can't get that picture out of my head. Damn him! Reguardless, aside from the orchestral hits, I found this to be pretty good. Nowadays it sounds dated, but that's ok with me. I like the descending chord over the static piano line, but I'm a sucker for that sort of harmony. Nice work.
  6. I'll update, since we've hit a milestone! All mixes with 6 reviews are now up to at least seven! Awesome work everyone, I didn't expect my goal to be completed so quickly. You all make me proud. Now, statistics: 24 mixes with 7 reviews 107 mixes with 8 reviews 101 mixes with 9 reviews In total, there would need to be 387 reviews to get all of those mixes to 10. That is a big leap from the beginning of this month. We originally needed 548 total reviews. So far that is 161 reviews in the 9 or less catagory alone. Whew, that's a lot! Also, as a side note, we're thinking that OA finally became a father, so don't expect your sig bar to be updated for at least a few days. Congrats to him!
  7. Relaxing, I like that. The vocals are strange, and mixed strangely, but they fit really well into the texture of the overall soundscape. Nice job on that. Repetativeness is apparent here, but such is the nature of the mix. As background music, which it seemed to be more intended for, it's fine. Nice work.
  8. This is so happy it's sickening. Bleh. That being said, the fact that I can't stand it doesn't mean it's bad. A VERY happy setting, drums that drive the mix (they do get a bit repetative), and some decent strings. Overall, the sounds are old, and the melody's too much for me, but at the time it was probably a pretty decent mix.
  9. There are parts in here that really remind me of Secret of Mana. Strange, and kinda cool. Overall, very midi sounding, but it's not all that bad of a listen. Apparently pretty close to the source, but it's all new to me, and the melodies are very driving. The overall drive get's a little old after a while; it would be nice to have a break somewhere in the mix. Good melodies, a bit repetative, and some older sounds. It's keepable to me, but not really a favorite.
  10. Don't know the source, so I can't comment on that, but overall this is a pretty melody. I like the pizz strings in the background. It immediately gives a warm. homey feeling. I don't think the flute is as bad as OA says, but it certainly is piercing. I never liked high flutes, and that doesn't help. The mix is so sudden on the ending! That makes me sad. Aside from those two quibbles, I like this.
  11. Nicely orchestrated. Very pretty. The melody hasn't been changed around much, but the backings are constantly varied, with military snare, strings, music box. Good work.
  12. The only tiny thing that I have against this mix is the unbelievablility of the guitar run. This is fantastic. Really nice work here. Get it.
  13. Update time! 17 mixes with 6 reviews! (Getting close!) 51 mixes with 7 reviews! 77 mixes with 8 reviews! 100 mixes with 9 review! We are doing awesome!
  14. This is very well orchestrated, bravo. Catchy, cute, bombastic, expressive. Brass samples are the biggest drawback, but it's generally a no-win situation in finding something good. The ending is particularly suitable. Nice work.
  15. I like the mood tha this sets up. Rain/water was a nice effect, and overall the instruments are pretty decent. I agree with whoever said that the snare vs. bass drum is not balanced, and that is the biggest problem with the mix. Aside from that, this is quite nice to listen to.
  16. I've liked this arrangement for a while. I never noticed the Zelda theme until now, nice touch. Overall, the change of instruments throughout the piece really keeps things moving, wonderful job on that. The unfortunate thing is that Abadoss doesn't have the time/money/etc to really get some good sounds. Arranging in Finale is one thing, and he does that very well. Getting it done with some good sounds is totally different. Wouldn't it be great if we all had access to all those programs? I know I'd at least by trying to mix more if that were the case.
  17. I immediately thought that the volume was a little low overall. Bringing nearly everything up would bring a nice kick into the mix. Catchy melody, though I don't know the source, so I don't know what's been done to it. It fits well with the background. Nice work on that. My favorite part is when the background drops out and the melody is still going about 2/3 through the mix. Nice effect there.
  18. I'm impressed what was done to the very short melody of the original. Not crazy about the mix itself, but it's cool to see what was done to really expand the source. Weird, kind of annoying, but interpretive.
  19. Sorry to say I'm not a fan of this. It's unoriginal, and the sounds are very midi. Sorry, again.
  20. The guitar arpeggios are very nice. Overall I like the sounds, even if they are midi-ish. They mesh well together. The piano and flute melody/countermelody is very well done. They fit together, but don't overcrowd. Both are relaxing. Drumwork is also nice. Overall, the song stays pretty static in terms of development and motion. I could see this in a game anytime. Standalone, however, it loses something without that driving motion. That would be my only complaint. Nice work.
  21. Just like to make a comment that there were over 140 reviews done TODAY ALONE. That's....amazing. Also, someone needs to make a "December is Reviews Month" signature.
  22. I like the mix, everything is subtle. The thing that bothers me the most is that the mix lacks energy. I feel like it should be a little more upbeat than what it is, but that could be personal preference. Love the bassline, and the panning works quite well, and the wah effect on some of the melodic lines. Instrument choice is good, though the claps get a little annoying after a while. Nice work.
  23. Going to have to agree with most people. Not a fan of this mix. The intro really kills it for me, and I'm not overly crazy about dnb stuff anyways. If your into the style, you'll probably like it, though. Give it a chance at least.
