  1. I've always appreciated how someone can make an industrial track. I think this track is pretty cool, and I don't really see why the other reviewers have as much of a problem with it. That being said, it's not my favorite mix, and I agree that from about 2:00 on it turns into a bit too much of a mess, but I think the track's alright.
  2. Don't know the original, but this rocks. Everything's a bit top-heavy, would have liked a bit more bass, but I can deal with it.
  3. I agree with the bass sample, but aside from that I'm not terribly bothered by the samples. I like the panning on the piano. The mix is definately laid-back, and pretty enjoyable to listen to. The ending's a bit of a cop out, but I'm alright with it as well. Good job.
  4. Underwear and socks. Oh, and Dragon Warrior Monsters from my brother. That's it, really.
  5. The siren is a sweet idea. Nicely implemented. Everything else is kinda mediocre to me. Perhaps not knowing the source affects that, but I'm not feeling this.
  6. Wow, crazy use of sound effects. I've got this silly grin on my face listening to it. Definately a fun mix!
  7. "Sonic vertigo", as OA put it, describes this well at the beginning. I feel like I could be standing on a building looking down through 100 stories of sound. Actually, it's kinda cool, but not the most pleasing sounds. The rest of the mix really isn't bad. The percussion is a bit cookie cutter, but it's alright. The variations on the theme aren't bad, though I'm not crazy about all the sound choices. Oh, and where's the ending? An alright mix, not as bad as I expected when reading the reviews. Worth a listen, at least.
  8. Man, Fishy, you rawk! Everything's tight, nothing sounds out of place. Great stuff.
  9. It kinda takes a while to really get established, but when it does it's pretty sweet. Nice work man.
  10. I don't like the background floating synth. It's distracting to me. The 'breakdown' with the random synths was weird, I coulda done without it. Aside from that, it's a trippy mix that's pretty upbeat. I'm not crazy about it, but it made me smile.
  11. Very chill mix, that much is obvious. The horns are quite fake sounding, although I can deal with it. The reverb-delay on everything is huge, and a bit distracting. An example is 1:42 where everythings just one muddled-reverb mess. Way too overboard. I like that mutagene seems to have done what he set out to do, and appreciate what he's done to the mix, but it isn't my favorite.
  12. Agreeing with OA, drums are sweet, and they just added some stuff on top. Nothing is really hooking me in, which is unfortunate. The ending is somewhat ubrupt as well, but I've heard far worse.
  13. A quick look, and I'm liking it. It's great that you can see from the 'outside' what songs are being mixed, and who did it. The icons of the systems is going to take a bit to get used to, but in the end I think it's going to be better. The one thing I'm wondering; for those people with dial-up, will that take a long time to load? If so, might there be a text-only option or something?
  14. I'm actually a person who rarely can tell the difference in the quality of an mp3, but this one I an hear. The low-quality of the mix really hurts it more than anything else. That and a severe lack of bass. And some other stuff.
  15. I don't mind the piano, it seems intentional to me, and somewhat fits the genre. Overall I'm feeling this is a bit too cookie-cutter. It reminds me of the techno email on Homestarrunner ("The system is down"). However, cliche's exist for a reason, in that it's something that does work. Key change is nice though, it re-caught my attention. There's nothing wrong with the mix, it just doesn't have the uniqueness that I'm craving in a mix.
  16. I don't like how rigid everything is when it starts. Once the drums kick in it sounds better, but before that it's too mechanical to me. A bit repetitive, I think more could have been done with this. As OA said, the fade to guitar is nice, but that could have been a lead-in to something else. The song ends way too early. Love this melody though, and I enjoy the mix.
  17. I like this mix, because while it remains pretty true to the original, it has a subtle shift in tone that I enjoy in it. It's nothing special, but it's still enjoyable to listen to. Sound effects at the beginning are an interesting touch. The screaming monkey's a little weird in my book, though. An ubrupt ending, but not as terribly bad as the other reviews make it seem. I don't have too much of a problem with it.
  18. Not my cup of tea, but an interesting take on the Dream Shore theme. Definately a more sinister approach, which was kinda cool. Gotta say, though, nothing really much happened in the piece, which from the sounds of it might have to do with it being rushed (?). Regardless, this could have been longer and more developed.
  19. This is a strange mix. I like the percussion, but it doesn't really fit with the melody. Same with the background. The music box section is nice, but I've heard similar things many times, so it's nothing new to me. I feel like it's too many parts thrown together that aren't really locked cohesively together.
  20. Great drive in this, I'm really tapping my toes to it. I'm really surprised this has so few reviews! It's a really great track! The percussion really keeps the momentum, and while I haven't played Street Fighter games (yes, seriously...I suck at fighting games), I can recognize that this keeps the feel of the original, yet gives it's own flavor. Nicely done.
  21. I'm not a fan of the sound choices, but that's only my opinion. I can see how they fit, they just rub me the wrong way. 1:10 is really random. Everything comes to a screeching halt, and it takes way too long to regain momentum. Too bad, as it sits right in the middle of the mix and breaks it apart. Tune is catchy, and the bass drives things nicely. Don't know how interpretive this is to the original, but either way it's good part writing by either the composer or Rayza here. Cute little mix!
  22. Wow, this is really pretty! I'm definately keeping this. Everyone's said it, waaaayyy too short! There could be so much more expansion on the theme, rather than a one time run-through. I don't know the original, so I don't know what's been done, but a second and third run through would have been appreciated by me.
  23. Vocal samples rarely work for me, though they're alright here. They fit the mix, they fit the game, I'm OK with them. I like when the bass comes in around 1:20, it's a step toward something else, and progresses the mix. Unfortunately, it didn't step as far as I was hoping. I could really see more coming out of this mix in terms of a direction. For an older mix on the site it's alright, but I doubt it would be passing today's standards.
  24. Exactly my thoughts. I found this to be really amusing, and worth checking out. Not something I'm going to keep, but it made me smile.
  25. The mix is almost over before it starts. The second I read 'this sounds like a DDR track' I couldn't get that out of my thread. I can picture myself trying (and failing) to dance to this one. The sound clips are amusing, though somewhat unnecessary. I don't mind them either way.
