  1. Despite what others have said, I think the entire song fits perfectly with an afternoon tea/day on the town with Snapple's mom. Parts of the song really remind me of Howl's Moving Castle (GREAT movie btw) as well as Illusion of Gaia (having never played Terranigma). There were a couple parts where I didn't think some things fit quite right. Some of the background/countermelody was a little strange to me. Overall, I love the emotion this has.
  2. Bad week for me. I did nothing. Zip. 0
  3. I wish I could play action games too, but this gives me a chance to go back and play all the old RPGs I never got around to finishing, so I'm not complaining about it.
  4. Checking in late, as usual. Walking went well this week. I bought a pedometer over last weekend, and the furthest I walked (supposedly) was a mile and a half, but I average about a mile at a generally brisk pace. Currently I'm in Arad in Breath of Fire (I want to say a little more than 1/4 through, according to Gamefaqs). Biking was awesome this week. I went exploring on a trail and got to see some awesome scenery that I didn't knew existed in my town, and there's more I'm hoping to see next time I go. I gotta work on being able to get up a somewhat large hill without walking, though.
  5. Bah, I never post on time. Week was alright, though I wasn't very motivated. I managed to walk the days I planned, but cold weather prevented biking. This week's looking better. Bought a $5 pedometer. Not sure how effective it really is, but I plan to use it to see about how much I'm walking a day. I also managed to pull out DDR today, and man do I suck. Like B-C on easy. No footly coordination whatsoever.
  6. Dunno if this is everywhere, but I'm assuming it is. In today's Toys R Us flyer they advertised that next Saturday and Sunday from 12-4PM they will be giving out Darkrai's. I'm totally there.
  7. I like the evil feel of this one. Definately a good use of sounds to acheive the right effects.
  8. Since a couple people responded to my DDR comment, I'm thinking that I'm personnally going to make Monday into DDR Day. I encourage everyone to do the same. Maybe throwing in fun 'events' would make us feel more connected in this?
  9. Absolutely it is, but notice wordage. I'm doing too much snacking, so I'm trying to cut back. Also, most snacking I'm doing is whatever comes out of he cabinet(Chips, cookies). The bad stuff. Just trying to curb it a little.
  10. Week 2 check in: Done a little more walking, and some more biking, which I'm proud of. I'm trying to cut back on snacking, also, but not putting in a real effort to it. Found out that I most likely will NOT have the job over the summer that I was going to bike to and from, which means the time I spent pulling out the bike was partially wasted (including buying a new helmet). I will continue to bike, however. Or at least try to. I have the urge to pull out DDR and get good at it. LOL
  11. The piece sounds dated, I agree with OA. Still enjoyable. The guitar works here with the piano well. It gets maybe a tad repetative in the piano by the end, would have liked a little change in what it plays. Still a fun listen.
  12. Real fun mix, and great soloing. I can picture everyone soliong around in an awesome session for this, which makes me smile. I'm not sure if I like the way things are recorded, something just sounds off to me, and I can't figure it out. I think even if I could, I wouldn't know how to explain it. Either way, it's nothing so big that it detracts from my enjoyment. Nice job, and happy birthday!
  13. I agree with everything said, Tweek did a great job with this, and there are great effects done to the piece. I'm not crazy about the source tune, and it carries into the mix, unfortunately. It's just not enjoyable to listen to, even with all the cool stuff Tweek's done to it. I can appreaciate the work he did, but it's not a keeper for me. It will, however, go on my OCHalloween Mixtape.
  14. I can tell you that for what it is, it's very well done. Definately a total turnaround of the theme and style, and a fun listen. That being said, I do have to throw in my hat with the "not my favorite" ring. I'm just not crazy with what you did here. Can't really say much more. Despite all of that, I did smile a little listening to it, and there were parts that I did enjoy.
  15. Weekly Check In: Good and bad. Good - pulled out my bike and got it set to go. Figured out that, yes, I do remember how to ride a bike. Ride to work will be 3.25 miles one way. Downhill in the morning (great, won't get sweaty), uphill in the afternoon (not great, will be hot + uphill riding). Overall, it'll be a good workout for me. Went riding on Sunday, Monday, and today. Bad - Didn't really walk at all this week on the treadmill, and have had a recent surge in cookie eating. Damn those tasty cookies...
  16. Great guitar work here. Really pumps me up. As someone said, the track gets right down to business, and that really works. Not many pieces can do that well, and it does here to great effect. Nicely done.
  17. I only know Illusion of Gaia, and that part immediately brought back memories. I liked the epicness of that part of the track. I like the piano transition. I thought it was a nice way to quickly change moods. I don't know if I feel the piece fits together cohesively, however, so it's a strange bit of music for me overall. Last 1/3 is definately very sweet. I would have liked more of that.
  18. I'm impressed, but it's not the best movie I've seen. I was expecting more out of it, like Tensei, but I can see why6 it's pretty sweet.
  19. http://www.ocremix.org/remixer/dragonavenger/ Both have lyrics, but you should clear with The Joker if you want to play Into the Darkness Lies. Summoner's Love is definately fine, however. You could also play any of my tracks on ThaSauce.
  20. I'm game. The Goal Overall, I'm looking to do more moving in general. I would also like to start doing some light lifting, for toning, not strength. The Plan Part A consists of having a treadmill downstairs. I have set up my SNES in front of it, and currently I'm walking while playing Breath of Fire (which I've never completed. This morning I just got past the Stone Robot). I plan to get through at least this game, and a couple other SNES games that I haven't beaten or haven't played in a while. Generally I'm walking at about 2.5 mph. Nothing super fast, but doing it for 45 minutes (hopefully I'll bring that time up) isn't too bad. Part B will include some weight lifting. I have a set downstairs, and some exercises that I used to do, and hopefully will motivate myself to restart. I'm looking to be able to do controlled slow lifting to tone my muscles. Part C is more optional. Running isn't really an option nowadays because of my knees, but I'm considering pulling out my rollerblades or bike. More fresh air would be good. Part D is also optional. My summer job as a secretary of summer school has moved to a closer school to home, and I'm considering riding my bike to work to save gas. This idea is dependent on the weather, my motivation, and whether or not the second half of the day will involve moving stuff from one school to another (we're getting a new high school, and I might have to be moving my band stuff from the old to the new).
  21. Going off of Arek's post. As a single OCR chica, I approve this thread. OCR needs more sexy mofos. I also want to join this. I was up to running 4.5 miles senior year of college, and I've really let go since then. I want to get into walking (starting to have knee issues, so I'm gonna keep it low impact) and maybe some light work out to tone up. Also, having my SNES set up in front of my treadmill will help motivate me, I hope.
  22. I'm at 11 minutes. Part of me wants to listen through to say I've done it. The other part of me is realizing that it's 10:20 PM and I have to get up at 5:30 AM for the first time in a week in a half (work after vacation). Honestly I can't stop laughing about Ramadan (lots of praying and no breakfast!).
  23. You grew up in New Haven? Damn, you were less than 30 mins from me.
  24. Not quite what you're looking for, but in here there's a pretty cool article about types of music and how they affect mice going through mazes. http://www.schillerinstitute.org/programs/program_symp_2_7_98_tchor_.html Music, Mice, and Mazes It talks about a having mice listen to either classical or hard rock and their times running through mazes. Long story short, the control mice cut off about 5 minutes, the classical mice cut off about 8 minutes, and the hard rock mice added 20 minutes to their time. The hard rock mice also killed each other the first time he tried the experiment.
