I'm not trying to knock anyone down here, but FFXII was an achievement in terms of game presentation and quality, much like MGS4 or Resident Evil 4. I'm not saying that these games have no flaws(and I have several issues with FFXII myself), but they were landmarks regardless, and failure to at least acknowledge that, well... Is bad. As for FFXIII, it's like solving a simple math problem A(Square-Enix wants most of their profits from international markets) + B(most American and Euro gamers own 360s) + C(Final Fantasy is a big hit in the west) = Square-Enix releasing Final Fantasy XIII on the 360 in both North America and Europe. I enjoyed Final Fantasy X-2 quite thoroughly, and I'm sure that FFXIII will be another step in a fresh direction that will not disappoint. From what I've read about the plot and concepts thus far, I think we might have a winner. Ditto on the packaging as well. Seriously, the Lost Odyssey packaging was a joke.

Final Fantasy XII was awesome because you could scale your own difficulty. You wanna auto through the whole game(like a whole bunch of whiners here)? Fine. Wanna ATB it up like the rest? Do it. Wanna man up and take the whole game on active? Hat's off to ya. If you were just gonna set the game up to play by itself, you probably shouldn't even be playing to begin with. If daring to be different and making an awesome game in the process is a flaw, well then you should probably go back to every other iteration of the series. God forbid a game series takes a step in a new direction. But to echo Atma, 12 was excellent and you're an idiot.

Does anyone rent games anymore?
Malaki-LEGEND.sys replied to Master_Yoshi's topic in General Discussion
I haven't rented a game since Resident Evil 4 on the GC like 2 years back, and even then I barely did it. Thing is, Blockbusters and most video rental places I've been hitting have either shit for games or only one copy of one game that everybody and their mother wants to play and thus is gone at ALL times. Also, since this new generation of systems usually have demos up for most of the games I want to play, I just download those. Although I can understand why you'd just want to rent a game like an RPG as opposed to an FPS being that you could rent that game for awhile and still end up paying less than you would buying it, thus not having a game taking up shelf space that you only played through once. I remember the good ol' days when renting games were like 3 bucks. -
...Nope, my excitement hasn't died yet. I still want to play this game. Also seriously, did ANYONE ever play a Mega Man game back in the day? Plots this nonsensical and simple were the norm. I find it interesting though how they kept Rush and Beat without giving Mega the powerslide or megabuster. Strange choices, but I'm sure it'll pan out in the long run.

I'm telling you all. Versus IS coming to the 360 as well. Maybe not soon, but it will. Same as MGS4.

I might be going off topic with this one, but what's the deal with the "touch sliding" deal on the GH4 guitar? Sounds interesting.

Understand the previous points made regarding sales points and such. You can rest assured that Final Fantasy is making the official jump to the 360. There will be throngs of people throwing money in SE's general direction. They can't help but take notice. As for Sony exclusives? No doubt they have a few, but are any of them real system sellers? I'm still just waiting to see what happens. I'm still rooting for Sony to get their collective heads out of their asses and start producing system-selling gold again. If their latest press conference is any indication, I'm in for a long wait.
-
The only thing I heard the whole time during that entire conference was "sales sales sales sales sales sales sales we rock we rock we rock sales sales sales double double double." Huge disappointment. Of course, with all the bombshells Microsoft was dropping, it's gonna be hard to compete, and don't get me started on the massive failure that was the Sony press conference.

You have to listen to this dubbing to believe it

That'll do, pig. That'll do. -
I'm sure SE will be surprised when they see how many people are gonna drop some dough on FFXIII for the 360. This will eventually lead them to bring over Versus XIII. Who knows? We might even see Kingdom Hearts 3 on the 360.
-
So... It's a ZomBIE60? But seriously, is anyone surprised by this tactic? They've been forcing you to pay out the ass since FF:CC on the Gamecube, hell, since the expansion pack for the N64. As far as I'm concerned, it's business as usual.

A fortune well spent IMO. Fanbase + NINE THOUSAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAND!

Meh... I wouldn't feel too bad about having a 20 gig HD. we didn't know that THIS stuff was on the horizon, so I don't feel bad at all spending the extra green on the 100 gig HD. That was gonna go towards my PS3 buy, but now there's no need. When it comes to sales, it makes sense for SE to want most of theirs to come from overseas. I mean the U.S. market alone is staggering in size compared to the Japanese market, so it only makes financial sense for them to go multi-platform everywhere else. Also Star Ocean originally appeared on the SNES, although I guess that's a moot point now since Second Story, 'Til The End of Time, and the PSP remakes are all on Sony consoles. As for everyone saying that FF was originally on Playstation? You know these are a bunch of kids who've probably never seen "The Fabled Super NES of Yore" or "The Legendary NES of ages past."
-
I didn't say it wasn't a good game. I just said I'm surprised people paid money for it past 2001.
-
I should have said "I'm suprised anyone actually paid any money for FFVII after around 2001 or so."
-
Yeah... Only not like it at all.
-
I'm actually surprised anyone payed more than $20 for FFVII.

I had to stop about halfway due to intense bleeding near my inner ear. -
Evilhead, you live in JAPAN. What are people playing on their PS3s anyway? I mean I'm really curious if there are a bunch of titles for it over there that make it a reasonable buy as opposed to over here. Inquiring minds and all that.
-
People are bitching about "quality" and how since it's going to the 360, it's not going to be zOMG awesome. What people aren't getting is that if they're saying it's going to the 360 now, that means that it's BEEN in development for the 360 for awhile, which means that more often than not, what we've been seeing for the PS3 is exactly what we'll be getting for the 360. I mean have these guys seen what they're doing for games like Infinite discovery and Star Ocean 4? Do you guys know what kind of a pickle Sony put themselves in for overpowering the PS3 and making it exceedingly difficult to develop for?
-
Which is the best part about all of it. Although when it comes to FF save for XI, I'm much more a fan of the console interations. I played FFVII and VIII and the PC and it was... dismal at best. But the fact that Crystal Tools is such a great multiplatform tool anyway, it might be a good thing if they ever did that. I'm waiting for their next gen MMO myself.
-
If anything, SE cares ONLY about the fans. Don't get all pissy 'cause of buyer's remorse settling in.
-
both of these are very plausible, and I wouldn't put it past MS at all. On another note, look at Lost Odyssey. It had 4 DVDs, which nobody cares about save for the packaging, and it was that big because it had uncompressed audio and FIVE audio tracks. 4 discs = 9.8 gigs of data each = about 37 gigs of data, and being that FFXIII probably WON'T have that many audio tracks and whatnot, it might be that exact same size, so probably 4 discs. Also again, nobody bitched about FFVII-IX being on multiple discs.
-
I am of the belief that we have just seen the end of the console war. Seriously, how is Sony gonna come back from this? It's going to be very exciting times. I don't even think the Super Nintendo gave Sega a pride-obliterating bitchslap this big.
-
News flash: Nobody cares about games with multiple cds. Mark my words, MGS4 IS coming to the 360 one day. Also this is the happiest day in a string of nothing but happy days. Is it possible to die from too much happiness?
