I was going to post this directly on the video site, but I figured you'd probably see this first. I only watched the 1st video so far and here is some feedback: For Jam: If Peach is going to stay in the float and attack without landing, try and land some more sheild grabs and lead into a chain throw. also, you proably already know to be cautious about using d-smash near Peach, but that move can wreck her, and it has decently good priority, so you may want to risk using it. To the Peach: Pretty well played. In order to eat at IC's sheild when they're trying to shield grab I usually float over their head and FC d-air into d-smash. That's usually pretty safe but be careful of an up-smash out of sheild. Also remember to try very hard to wiggle out of chain throws at low percents. It is possible to escape unless you're playing agianst Wobbles or something. (roll the c-stick and joy-stick for quick inputs) Edit: Holy $#$% at

OMEGA TOM HANKS vs. SS$JZZZZ Goku!

Don't even joke about that. One set of Ice Climbers is enough, lol. Good to see some love for the Mother series. I was never really into it myself, but Ness was always fun to use.

Does Halo 3 support the directional pad for strafing like 1 did? Being able to use the d-pad is the main reason that I like Halo 1 better than 2. I was watching the release in California on G4 yesterday. I lol'ed when I saw someone in a Master Chief suit walking around inside, pointing at people, saying "are you ready to finish the fight?!" Sounds like it was a good release.

Well done, man. Did you record any matches? I'd like to see them. I still need to discuss melee stuff with you on aim. I should be free later this evening. I recorded some more friendlies yesterday. Some of the matches are pretty freaking funny. We did a mock Bowser challenge and I pwned (mainly because my friends were being stupid, but hey I still won.)

You must defeat Shenlong to stand a chance..... Also, seeing snake perform CQC on Ike made my day. I'm not sure what I think about the MGS4 theme. It's not bothersome, but it's not very interesting either. I'm sure it'll be fine during gameplay though. And, I'm having friends over for smash tomorrow, woot!

Phew, online is confirmed. This easily cancels out the ice-climbers update and puts this game at +10. I have nothing to worry about anymore really. Just need to find a Wii (which hopefully won't be too difficult this holiday season.) I'm definitely gonig to allocate one of my taunt slots to "WOOT!" ....Dunno about the others though.

OCRA-0009 - Final Fantasy VII: Voices of the Lifestream
Broken replied to zircon's topic in Album Reviews & Comments
Well, it's already been said a million times and it will continue to be said, but you all did an amazing job. I didn't say "OMG AWESOME" for every track, but the overall quality and scope of this album far surpases any other project I've listened to from this website. There is a lot of techno and electronica, and that doesn't bother me in the least, but even if you don't like that, there are a couple gems of acoustic and orchestral tracks in the collection, too. Still haven't gotten to listen to the 4th disk, but I assume that it's not going to be so amazingly awful that it ruins the entire poject for me, so I look foward to it. I started downloading the torrent the night it came out on my old school bit torrnado torrent (and I realized the moment I saw the 2 Gig size that I wasn't going to be burning the music that night.) So, now I have everything (Wav's, MP3's, Album art, etc,) and I've been seeding ever-since. -
Could you provide a link to that thread, man? I'm assuming it's not front page on Smashboards right now because I didn't see it last time I checked. I'm glad that the technique has been unbanned. I'll admit that I haven't had an expert perform it on me at a tourney yet (so, I'm not going to pretend like I know all about it,) but I believe that the community will now have a chance to really adapt to it. I mean, if more people have to figure out a way to deal with this, then hopefully they'll figure out a way to foil it. And then I can copy them, yeah!
-
Oh boy, Ice Climbers are back....Well, I guess I'll just have to deal with it.
-
Good point. I gotta go to sleep right now, though. It's 1 AM over here. We WILL argue more later. Not here though, I guess, lol.

You do L-cancel, but depending on when you drop from the float it depends on how much of the attack comes out. That can affect whether or not your opponent has time to sheild grab you sometimes. I basically mean that it's possible to mess up a FC, that's all.

OCRA-0009 - Final Fantasy VII: Voices of the Lifestream

YEAHH!!!! I'm glad I stayed up so late tonight. This sucker's going on CD TONIGHT! This will hopefully tide me over as I wait for "Summoning of Spirits" to be released. -
It's the best feeling in the world, believe me. "That's what you get for crouch cancelling me, SON!"
-
Yeah, I guess if you can pull a perfect float cancel out whenever you do an aerial, then Peach would be pretty unstopable, and I'm sure there are some Peaches that can float cancel just about everything, but I'm certainly not at that level yet. Being good at Peach to me is 100% execution, 50% mindgames, if that makes any sense. I basically mean that you not only have to be solid on executing all of her little exploits and techniques to be good, but you have to put each one to use differently on each character. Peach has few or no garuanteed combos on anyone that I can think of. But she's amazingly unorthodx, which I love, and her recovery is superb when I employ good DI. Thanks for the match up tips, ya'll. On Fast Fallers, I usually give them hell with chain grabing, d-smashing and edge gaurding, sheik and marth I have to play a little bit differently. I'm actually having the most trouble against low tier characters now (becuase I just don't play them enough.) Other floaties give me grief (zelda, wuigi, i.c.'s etc.) Edit: and GT, the Downsmash is very punishable, as I'm sure you've figured out. Peach's upper body is basically a big knee or drill target if used at an improper time. And damn Falco's lazers. Am I supposed to float over those things or something? argh, they're so spammable.

I personally think it would be a cool idea, so don't get me wrong when I say this, but I think that this goes against DJP's ideas for the site. He would like for people to find something new here instead of a list of "classics" which can't possibly do the site justice and will probably be familiar to everyone.
-
Another lesson from our Melee dictionary, GT, haha. Couldn't have described it better myself. I would add though that in order to survive killing attacks, you try to DI perpendicular to AND towards the direction that you are hit. So, if you get foward smashed off the stage, press up and toward the stage. That way, your foward momentum is halted and you move toward the top corner of the screen (a kind of safe haven from losing your stock.) I think the best way to do it is to press the c-stick toward the opponent and the joystick perpendicularly upward from your trajectory. If any of that was wrong, feel free to correct me. That's what I remembef from Wak's "Advanced How to Play" guides and it's worked pretty well for me. DI'ing has really opened up new avenues for my gameplay. So has learning how to edge tech. Edit: Does anyone else here play Peach besides myself? I need someone to exchange knowledge with on certain match-ups.
-
Don't get tilt'd. Also, depending on who you are (heavy or light,) I think you can DI AWAY from her f-air (Sheik's bread and butter) if she tries to set you up into it.

I was considering making a seperate thread just to celebrate the awesomeness that is Ninja Gaiden II, but I figured that's why people have been posting on this thread. But yeah, I want a 360, NOW!

I record all of my footage on cassette tape as I am playing, and then I plug my VCR into my computer's capture card via composite video cables and record what I need using Windows Movie Maker. Unfortunately, I only have composite video cables and no audio; Therefore, I always have to substitute my own audio for the in game audio. (also, if I used a camera to record, you could hear all of the trash talk that occurs during my matches

I was Mario. Thanks for the critiques. (You too GT, I just don't know how to double quote yet.) Neither of us play those characters normally if you didn't already notice, but I'll keep in mind what you said about missing openings and I'll try out the nair to d-smash. I also agree that my friend was spamming counter too much. I guess those were the kinds of openings you were talking about. I would use down smash more often but I often get hit in return when I do that because my friend Crouch Cancels just about everything. As a matter of fact, in that video you can see him trying to pull a counter off of a crouch cancel a few times. I'm not really sure of the best way to avoid this. Did you get to look at the team battle any? The ending is pretty funny. I recorded some more today, but I won't have time to put any of it up until next weekend.

Put some new vids up. I'd appreciate comments and criticism. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hdChje3zpfc http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Cf2ba98D64 For some reason, my video capture card isn't capturing in game sound, so I have to keep adding my own background music. It's kind of frustrating. I'd rather save my own music for like a combo video or something. Oh well, I'm just glad my capture card is recording video right now.

Hey, I just found this about three minutes ago whilst on YouTube. I never knew that there were tournaments for this game. This looks like a lot of fun, with plenty of spectators and a nice setup. There is one or two really sick volleys in the video, too.
-
That's correct. I do wish that you could select multiple iterations of each (or some) character(s), a la Hyper Street FIghter: Anniversary edition. That way we could have like, Windwaker Link and TP link, or something crazy like that. And the screen would be less cluttered if they did things that way, too.

I second the Ignition pad reccomendation. Also, lol at the dancer in the background of that song
