  1. As an interesting treat, I'm writing a Private eye story after going on hiatus for more than a year from writing them. I really hope I haven't lost my edge.
  2. Dang, yours took a while to get there. I've had mine since the 18th when I posted. Go check out the site that Hale-bopp linked.
  3. Just got done playing a couple of rounds of TF2 with a 12 year old amongst others, and I've got a say that he really didn't do his age bracket much credit. A lot of swearing and "your mom is" quips. You know, I don't really mind playing games with younger kids, as long as they can mind their manners and play like a regular person. But it's actually really tough not to want to grief them until they go away. The problem, I think, is just that they are so used to playing by school rules with other 12 year olds, who all think that swearing is cool and "that's what she said" and "your mom is" are the pinnacles of humor. The rest of us, most in their later teens, early twenties, have long since moved on from that kind of thing, and it just sounds really, really stupid. And good luck getting one of those little bastards to stop mic spamming with their nonsense, short of muting them or banning them. That being said, it's a shame that there are so many of these guys, because I've played online with 12-13 year olds who were not only civil, but actually better than I was. I just don't want to listen to the dumb ones ramble on and on about how their team is better and how my mom is apparently a spy.
  4. As much as I'd like to get on again sooner rather than later, I'd rather wait to have uninterrupted gaming than taking the chance of getting kicked every time we want to have a go.
  5. Well, by the looks of it, I'll focus on double swing/frenzy then. I'll have to work on raising my energy stat a little bit in order to really make it work, but if I want to do sheer damage (which is why I choose to play barb anyways) that's the most attractive option to me. Just have to find some good leech weapons/armor in the meanwhile to make whirlwind a viable possibility.
  6. Hey, it was a lot of fun, even though I had no clue what I was doing. I have to agree with Clefairy about the pace. That's really hard to adjust to, especially when you keep realizing that your gear is crappy at that point. As for skills, I was going for double swing/whirlwind and some battle cries to mix things up, but it looked like you were going for battle cries as well, so I went back to weapon mastery and double swing again. But when it comes to builds, I'm clueless. I have no idea what it all means, I just know what works for me.
  7. I'm totally in for this, can't wait to actually play this online with friends for once. I should add that I haven't played any online Multiplayer though, but I'm used to playing either a barbarian or an assassin (I liked the barbarian better, less spell casting worries and more damage.) I'm down to play whatever the group needs though, just as long as people give me some time to adjust to it.
  8. My scariest moment music wise was doing sound for a play back in high school. We were running it off an ancient amplifier, which tended to overheat sporadically. I had rigged up a heat sink using some water bottles in a paint roller tray (Which worked surprisingly well I might add), and things seemed to be going okay. But just before the intermission, and right when we needed the sound effect for a door slamming shut, it died. This was the first time I'd been given the responsibility for the sound of an entire show and for a couple of seconds I was frozen thinking I was about to mess up the whole thing. I don't know how I came up with the idea, but I ended up slamming my fist against a door that was up there, which worked just as well. No one noticed the difference, which was even better. Scariest moment in life was probably the time I had to take my moped (maximum speed of 30 mph) up one of the busiest streets in town to get to work. Even though it was only 8 in the morning, there were cars zipping by me at 60-70 easily. No bike lanes, barely any sidewalk. I was honestly convinced the entire time that a car was going to clip me and send me into the street where I'd get run over by another car. The trip back was just as bad, and I'll tell you I was never more glad to see a Starbucks than I was to see the one on the corner where I knew some back streets home.
  9. Looks like I'm working for Encom now. Got my badge, and got introduced to their system, just have to see what's going on from there.
  10. Alright, I'm in for this one too. I've been gone a while, I think it's only fitting to pit my talent against all the old players and see how well I can do.
  11. Thanks for the help too LuckyXII. I can't wait to see my Encom badge in the mail too.
  12. The one man crusade to keep this thing going continues. I made one for a more recent mix: Link to the Mask.
  13. #15 right next to the tree with the ring over it and under the soldiers around the car. Bottom left-ish. I finally got the skater by the way.
  14. I don't get what you mean by rotations for the skateboarder. And now I just need the pirate as well and I've got them all. And if you think about another word for a large, round rock, you might be closer to figuring out what it is. It was an old NES game, which was a lot of fun. I just got the car one too. It's a different name for the bumper.
  15. So the ones I've got left are the wolf head (I feel I should know that one), the Golden T, the car (something to do with either bumper or grill right?), the star tower, the skateboarder, the halved clock (I really hate that I can't figure that one out), the paper doll, The book with the devil in it?, and the pirate. Edit: Wow, I just tried the first thing that came to mind when I logged back in for the wolf and was right.
  16. Here's how I got some of those: Pie: Look at what the guy inside the pie is holding in his hands TV: The T.V. isn't cracked, it's ____ Cat: It's not about the cat, but what the arrow is pointing at specifically. Window: Think about whether or not the guy actually jumped or had an accident. If you absolutely can't get it: Pie= Spy Hunter TV= Smash TV Cat= Golden Eye Window= Fall Out End spoilers I don't know what's with the violinists either.
  17. I've gotten 40 so far, although I did use two of Abadoss's hints. There are a couple that I feel like I should know, and there are several that I just don't have a clue on, like the meats boxing and the dude with his eye out. Embarrassingly enough, I don't know what to put for the light cycles either. I did get the pie one though, which wasn't nearly as hard as I thought it was when I first looked at it. Edit: Completely stuck at 43 now. Got the soldiers one, and the light cycles. I'm stumped after that.
  18. I got in too. This is my first beta, looking forward to it.
  19. It's a long way off, but put me down for tentative for now. Vegas isn't that far, and this sounds like it could turn out to be a lot of fun, whatever we end up doing.
  20. Wow, just downloaded this and was listening to some of them at random. I really like what you did with the Hollow Bastion theme. It sounds so different slowed down. Great job on this album, it's really good stuff.
  21. I'm pretty sure Neko lives in Sacramento, otherwise I'd offer my house for a night if you got into California late. Still, if you find you need a last stop before making the push to SF, let me know.
  22. Ultra necromancy! I had a lot of fun with this back when it was still active, and having nothing better to do recently, I finally went back and made that tile I promised. I give you my tile for Eutopia Pegasi:
  23. Well, I didn't break my promise. I'm hoping that my reviews so far have been better than the ones I gave when I first came here. I'll probably do some more either tonight or tomorrow. I should be listening to some of the newer tracks anyways. Been pretty bad about that lately.
  24. I really enjoy how the two songs actually compliment each other here and near seamlessly slide back and forth. It took me a while to figure out where one gave way to the other. I have to agree that it is really conservative, both on the actual piano playing side, but also on the sticking to the source. But I think the mix does a good job bringing out the emotion of both the songs represented, even if only one is listed at the moment.
  25. This is probably one of the first remixes I ever downloaded from the sight after coming here. I had just been getting into Kingdom hearts at the time, and the original Hollow Bastion theme was one of the songs in the game that really popped out at me. I always liked the mix of the sense of urgency and the feeling of loneliness that you are supposed to feel as a result of events that transpire in the game. Added to that, you're exploring this massive castle that is sitting on top of a rising waterfall, something unlike anything you've encountered in the game up until that point. Whereas the Disney worlds are all colorful and full of familiar faces, Hollow Bastion is falling apart and crawling with nothing but monsters. This mix takes all of that and multiplies it. One of my favorite kinds of mixes on this site are the ones that can not only make me remember where they are from, but actually make me remember them better than they are. I always feel a little disappointed that it's a bit short of the awesomeness this remix makes the level sound. This is one of them. From the booming bass drum to the "windy" synth, the whole mix sounds like it belongs in the soundtrack to some epic movie. It doesn't deviate too far from the original source, but in this case I don't think it has to. I also like the subtle additions of the Destati track in there (2:42 is the most obvious) , another piece from the OST that I am really fond of. It fits well with the overall feel of the song. The only thing I can think of that this doesn't have are the bells from the original, which would have been a cool little addition.
