  1. Mass Effect 2 for the third time, this time I'm going to get everything in the game (sidequests and all) for my paragon character because I missed a few things last play through.
  2. Live live live live live live live live live live live That said pick whatever feels best, but don't get a DAW based on someone's word/opinion.
  3. Two recent favorites of mine have been and Fax, who are more minimal IDM than chillout I guess if you want to really get anal about genre definitions, but still really good. I also heard last night while listening through random music I had on my iPod and its one of the better chill rap songs I've heard, shame I can't say the same for the rest of the album though (has a few quality tracks but overall kinda "meh")
  4. Except maybe not. Keep in mind this only affects brick-and-mortar stores and physical media, if the trend is to move to mostly digital distribution as a lot of analysts have been predicting for a while now then this is just a pinch compared to what will happen later on. We're not looking at a long-term solution to a problem but rather something to start chipping away at the used games market until the technology/platform exists for total digital distro.
  5. This is the only downside I see to this plan, otherwise I'm in full support of what Darkesword said. Is it a relentlessly corporate thing to do? Sure, but I'd much rather see some amount of the used game market get thrown back to developers when, as zircon said, the price of making games has hit an all-time high.
  6. Can - Turtles Have Short Legs inspires Parappa the Rapper's car level which is similar to (and possibly influenced) which sampled the original Can song.
  7. I would definitely be interested in a Dubstep collabo, main problem though is that I've since migrated to the greener territories of Ableton Live, although if needed be I could probably dust off (re-download) a copy of FL.

  8. Bang on. Headphones aren't terrible for mixing but a decent set of monitors, even in a less than ideal monitoring situation, can give a much clearer "view" of what's going on. Of course, this is just a personal view, but there is a reason why most artists have some kind of monitoring set-up.
  9. Ok, I'm listening on Macbook speakers so I'll try to avoid anything too mix specific. The Intro/build-up is good, really digging it, but the drop is SO disappointing. For one, the drums need to be fatter and more "urgent", I'm talking 16th-note fills, noisey-compressed ass snares, extremely tight plastic-sounding kicks, etc.. Sub Focus and Nero can provide good examples of this. In addition, maybe its all subs but where's the bass? I'm surprised there's not some giant cheesy reese in this track, at the moment no synth really stands out. The whole thing feels dynamically unimpressive, the arrangement isn't bad but there is no ebb and flow to the track and nothing is outstanding enough from a sound design purpose to justify the repetitiveness. Scattered points aside, this track just doesn't have any power to it; you build up to something wonderful and then nothing punches through. Drum and Bass is one of, if not THE most technical genre out there and most tracks rely on one powerful hook or idea to sustain the track. Your remix has one, but its not powerful enough or badass enough to make me want to listen to it again. EDIT: And I'm not trying to be harsh, I'm just pointing out the main things that I find wrong with it. I do think this easily has the potential to be a great track with some more elbow grease put into it.
  10. Sounds wicked so far, looking forward to the whole album dropping
  11. Way to forget the name of my remix and not link to it. And no I'm not doing either because I forgot and I'm lazy
  12. Exactly, that said I highly doubt you'd have any problems if you posted up a remix with that sample anyway but I'm not sure OCR would allow it without it being cleared.
  13. Throw me up there as well (Gamertag: The Vagrance)
  14. I watched it on shrooms and it did surprisingly little for me, even to the point where I assumed that I got ripped off (I didn't). I also agree with zircon about the score, its nothing revolutionary but it did have some really interesting moments.
  15. Pfff, he says that about every remix he gets. I'm onto you Emunator. EDIT: In other news, Mazedude's track sounds awesome.
  16. The way I've always seen it is remixing is a reinterpretation of the song using the same samples, whereas an arrangement is just a reinterpretation of the song but usually with different samples/style. Hence why all (or about 99.99%) remixes of tracks that you hear of electronic music will use some of the same sounds, for example: (Original) (Remix)Different tracks, similar sounds. What you hear on OCR are more rearrangements than remixes.
  17. I want to hear these girls because Eminem is a sick rapper.
  18. Meh, its the same thing as acts like Ke$ha or 3OH!3, like the mainstream's answer to hipsters.
  19. Huge congrats, and I don't care what you say because this kills Tiesto's version.
  20. I loved, loved, LOVED the original; played through it more times than I do with most other games, bought the soundtrack, been desperately searching for a cheap copy of the art book, hell my sig backs me up, but I can't say I'm looking forward to this sequel. The chibi thing doesn't turn me off so much as the fact that this game is being made for the DS. Yeah the whole painting thing was an integral gameplay idea but it wasn't the one of the reasons why the original was so great like the music, art, storytelling, and combat. I could be (and hope I am) wrong, in which case I'll take back everything I've said but I guess I was hoping they'd scale the game up instead of down, if that makes any sense.
  21. QFE Seriously, its understandable if you're working on a small scale (home studio) and with minimal audio but its not like the only reason why people use Pro Tools is because of some grand conspiracy, its because it integrates the best with large studios while still being compatible with smaller formats (If I have a Pro Tools LE project and I want to go to a bigger studio to track things then everything still matches), is cross platform, and has one of, if not the best audio editing setups, which is essential for most tracking.
  22. I don't think FLStudio has had that stigma for some time though and also it seems unnecessary given that on this forum FLStudio is easily the most common sequencer.
  23. Means absolutely nothing. Anyone can make anything sound nice, what matters is the workflow and the features.
  24. Bandcamp is definitely worth looking into if you're doing digital distrobution.
