  1. You're not wrong about the writing, which is a big reason I even started this post. And it's been extremely encouraging hearing that this isn't an isolated experience. I guess this is just part of life. Also, you're in the right for wanting to talk about Castlevania! Thanks for the advice and encouragement. This whole thread has been very helpful too me today.
  2. Actually, one of my friends I have around here is a recent parent, which means hanging out with him has been almost a no-go too! Kids to make it busy (like you needed me to confirm that for you).
  3. I've been going through Rock Paper Shotgun this week. It's seems like a good choice. Thanks.
  4. I'm in the rural, lost parts of Western, NY, 90 minutes out of Buffalo, Rochester and Erie, PA. Moved here for my job (teen librarian) but haven't really settled in the year I've been here. You're probably right about meetup. I've gone on it before and there's been nothing happening near me, but like Meteo Xavier said, I'm probably going to have get out of my comfort zone and make it happen. No reason I can't start the meetup. And I really should check into the big multiplayers. Outside of League, I don't play too many MMO-types. Maybe it's time to suck it up and play them. Also, thanks for confirming 30+ isn't an easy time to make friends. Its nice knowing it's not just me.
  5. I don't have any gamer friends where I live and my wife, bless her, isn't a gamer either. But I play a lot and don't feel like I have anyone to talk to about those games. I think the loneliness connected to one of my favorite hobbies is really starting to have an effect on me. I used to have friends where I lived before who played with and talked about them with me, but I've moved a bunch since and at 30, making new friends feels impossible. College really spoiled me and now adulthood seems so empty as a gamer, even though I still love playing! My Steam friends list is my two uncles and one friend from home, an they're never on. I tend to be a bit more depressed than most, but it just seems different with this. No one to relate to, or talk to. Is there a site/forum/game I should be spending time in? I've tried twitch, but it just seems to enhance the loneliness (does that make sense?Maybe I don't twitch right!) Am I just whining about nothing and should just shut up and play. I'm not trying to sound like a cry baby or throw a pity party. I just live far out in rural country and can't shake this loneliness and don't know how to fix it.
  6. Hey everyone, I'm looking for a new gaming news site. I haven't used IGN in years, and the Escapist leaves me cold lately. I enjoy Yatzee and Jim Sterling, but I'm looking for something more news related, especially for indie games and PC gaming. I know this is me probably being lazy at interneting, but hey, I'm at work! Does anyone have a favorite that I should check out. Is there a a hidden gem or one that's so obvious I wouldn't think about it?
  7. Why are we all not talking about this and showing Pokepics? Is OCR dropping the...ball? My local library!
  8. Hi, Anyone going to Anime Boston this Saturday? My first time going after years of missing it. Not that I know anyone here, but just wondering.
  9. Ha! You didn't say it had to be music! My podcast!
  10. Hey again everyone! We've done two weeks of Anime Club so far and so far we've watched Haikyu!! Free! - Iwatobi Swim Club Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet. You've hit the nail on the head. I've gotten request to show anime there's no way I'm showing. So in reality, I'll probably be picking most of it. The hardest part is finding a show both the girls and boys want to watch. The girls wanted to watch Free and the boys scoffed (the show is great though, so they need to shut it). None of them have actually seen Trigun so maybe I'll just make them watch that! We did get permission to show Funimation movies and shows too, so now we can show those even if they're not on Crunchyrolls so anymore suggestions would help. I'm watching Blue Exorcist on my own right now but it seems like it might be okay. Thanks!
  11. Hey everyone, I'm the Teen Coordinator at a library and I just started our Teen Anime Club. I'm a little out of the loop with the best new stuff, still thinking Cowboy Bebop and Trigun are the best of the best. So I need some suggestions for the kids today! Any anime I should think about showing? It needs to be appropriate for 12-16 year olds. Also, it needs to be on Crunchyroll because that lets us show it legally at our library. Thanks!
  12. Does anyone think Rey's Theme has a bit of Metal Gear Solid in it? Just me? WELL FINE!
  13. Thanks all, I ended up getting the Scarlett 2i2. I guess I really didn't understand what I was looking for until you pointed out the difference. I was planning to use Audacity, since it's free and I've got some experience with it. Again, thanks for the help!
  14. So, my library wants to sponser a podcast and I've been charged with putting it together. It's going to have two hosts. I've found the mics, a pair of Audio-Technica ATR2100, and we're going to record into my laptop. The thing I haven't been able to figure out is 1. should I get a mixer and 2. what mixer should I get? From what I've read, since it's the two hosts, we'll need the mixer, but maybe not(?) because the mics are also USB. If I did get a mixer, I needs to be on lower priced, but I can't seem to find one that will support to mics, and connect easily into my laptop. Or would it and I'm just missing something? Thanks!
  15. Hey all, trying to remember the name of this 90's PC game. Actually, it wasn't really a game, it was a program that let you make comic books. But, I mean, it was super 90s. One of the characters it provided was a man made of smoke, the leader was a teen super genius stuck in a wheelchair, it looked like Wildcats gone made. Any ideas? Also, I can't remember the name, so I can't be sure if it spelled the word 'Comics' or Comix'. Again, the 90s.
  16. Boo Jill Valentine Banjo & Kazooie Too many options! Too many!
  17. So, I'm getting my first guitar this Christmas, along with lessons for the rest of my life. I owe a lot of my desire to learn an instrument to OCR, since it created a musical awakening in me many years ago. The first song I'm going to try to learn to play in it's fullest, outside of practicing, is Terra's theme from Final Fantasy VI. My question to you, if you play an instrument, what was the first video game song you learned to play? If you don't play, what song would you learn if you started today?
  18. I've never checked to see when this was made. Considering how long ago it was mixed, I can't believe how great it still sounds. One of my favorites, played at my wedding reception. Love it!
  19. Honestly, I just think this is an underrated tune from a pretty rich game series. The change-up around 1:36 is what has always won me over. I don't know how this would be remixed, but that's cause I'm not musically inclined! Source tune:
  20. I finally got around to watching the Trigun movie, so now I'm back on the anime bus after finishing FMA:B. Watching Hetalia and Xenosaga now.
  21. Love this! It feels a little OC Old School, but that might be just me! I could listen to this for days! And I plan to!
