  1. If the rumour that you can pay to increase your stats is true, then I can't facepalm hard enough.
  2. I did a '^'. Pretty sure that's internet for 'what he said'.
  3. Oh hey magfest, I'm totally going to thi oh wait it's still in Amurrrca...
  4. ^Yeah. Although I had a weird moment where the moment I now remember changed since seeing it played live. I get the image of the gig instead of the old one now.
  5. Wow. Not bad at all. One or two giveaways, and the fast runs are a little too clean but thats pretty damn solid. Your move Zircon.
  6. Funny you should say that... *cough*
  7. UPDATE - APOLOGY FOR ABSENCE USING ALLCAPS. - Officially moved out of Uni, my attention is firmly in the direction of FFIX. - People are still messaging me with music trying to get on the album and I'm finding it hard to turn them down. The album is taking a little longer but it's more awesome FFIX goodness that's holding it up, so don't worry. - I will be setting a cutthroat deadline after having a chat with everyone who's left, so expect a message or email within the next few days.
  8. I have recorded evidence of Deia confirming that I am, as suspected, the best fishy: http://cainmusic.co.uk/music/recordings/FishyThanks.mp3
  9. My first reaction was holy shit those graphics are incredible, well done for staying ahead of the curve yet again. My second reaction was that they maybe haven't learnt their lesson from FFXIII, which is that you can make all the beautiful landscapes you like but you won't make me care until you have a good story to fill it with. I couldn't name you a single NPC with any significance in the story from FFXIII. I could probably name you 30-40 and give you a character description for each from most of the other FF titles.
  10. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-18280000 Congrats guys. Most popular story on most popular UK news site. Awareness success.
  11. I used paint for mine, it's this super pro software.
  12. The panel is kept small to help increase it's consistency and so that when stuff has to go to a majority vote it doesn't take ages to get every single judge to vote on it. We fairly consistently test new potential judges to replace slackers like me rather then to add numbers. djp does all the write-ups and I don't think that's going to change. It's kind of part of the reward of getting something posted to get some bad jokes or hyperbole straight from the man.
  13. I've done the odd tape session with a band. What I like about it is you have to NAIL shit. None of this 'let's do 50 takes and let them edit it later' stuff. Make a decision, was that good enough? You want another take of the guitar solo? Are you sure? The last one isn't coming back!
  14. Well they record most film scores with CLASP these days apparently, which is the best of both words. It's recorded to tape to get that nice saturation and 'warmth', simultaneously read of the sync head and recorded into pro tools. You get all the best qualities of both mediums and avoid most of the drawbacks.
  15. Nah obviously when I have the choice I'll use it, but I'm just saying I'd rather have an 'expensive' performer then an expensive mic. Also it's not my collection, it's the studios. I can't afford that stuff, lol.
  16. Whatever works for you but a 57 vocal recording is definitely clean enough to edit and tune if you want to. It certainly isn't a leaking shitty sound and noise on everything you record with it. If the OP wants some proper advice, I tend to setup three mics for most vocal sessions I do: a C12, a U87 and a C414/something dynamic. I try them all out and ask the singer which they prefer and decide between us. It's usually splits about 60:20:20 respectively for what works for each person. My point is it's hard to say exactly what microphone will work for you without trying a couple out, so to get anything other then a generic 'this mic has good reviews and is cheap response', find a friend who owns a few and give them a bash.
  17. Good singer + cheap but functional microphone > bad singer + expensive microphone. Not sure if not sure if serious is serious?
  18. I use vintage C12's, trolololo not even joking. If I only had $100 I would honestly use a 57 with a pop shield. The quality of the singing is of far more interest to me as a recording engineer then what mic I have.
  19. It's worth mentioning that I finish my degree in 7 days. So fear my spare time to annoy everyone.
  20. Just got a pm from one someone who hasn't finished complaining I'm not complaining about them not being finished enough. I don't even...
