The thought of playing a solo in real life is much easier then playing the same thing on guitar hero, so from my point of view, they don't relate. If they did I would be instantly amazing at guitar hero, which I'm not. Games like DDR, GH and Frequency are all awesome for your rhythmic training however, as mentioned earlier.

I remember seeing Pi years ago, and it giving my brain a good fucking, but I can't remember anything about it except it being about a wall street equation and a drill. Either way I couldn't sleep well for about a week after it, so yay.

This is probably the main reason a lot of japanese games end up not working as a whole. FFX's story telling lost much of its original flow because yunas disjointed pauses in sentences didn't really work in english. Also they never bother to re-do the lip-syncing for english releases. Man though, the FF12 translation was epic, and the sences all still work perfectly. The dynamics between the characters were great imo. If I had to pick an example of great story-telling though, it would still be shadow of the colosus, despite the fact that only one character really says anything. It transends language and speaks through direction alone, so imo writers and directors are equally responsible for creating a convincing story experiance.

I did search this and found no mention so eh: Ormgas announced on the 5th they are going to be closing down in a few months, has there been any mention as to who/where any potential sequels will occur, and is there any chance that a streaming mechanism will be implemented as an official OCR doohickey. Its probably a horrendous bandwidth issue for anyone considering it, I just wanted to know cause I used ormgas quite a lot .

Not as much as I used to, mostly because they're on my old PC. I listen to most of the stuff as it pops up on the frontpage, and a hell of a lot of wips. However, if I have a great deal of reading or writing to do, I always load up ormgas and chill.

Sorry I added more to my answer after re-reading your question and seeing it was freeware, make sure you ask a judge before taking my word for it.

We had an FFX remix released before the game was even out, so age is irrelevant. And yes, if you read the submissions standards remixing obscure games is encouraged, as it increases awareness for them and gets more people playing more games. Freeware games is a dodgy issues though, I think the only freeware game we have remixes of is Cave Story, so you might want to ask one of the judges about what game it is specifically. Why not ask in the questions for judges thread, that would be an easy way to find out.

I have one: Lets face it, Harmony is using some kind of ascended DAW un-beknownst to the mortal realm that bestows upon him the power to win at music every time he doth grapple its magical tracks. Imo he stole it from some aliens.

Also how does the direct post system actually work, cause I remember hearing from someone that you guys have a possible DP list that I presume is visible to the judges, even if they don't get input. Is it like entirely Larry's decision, or does he pick a few and show them to Dave to get his thoughts? Do any of the judges get any input on that?

I think its leaning towards too liberal, but I'd still be fairly confident about submitting this. The overall soundscape and production is very intricate and interesting, and the original additions are very cool. New outro is sweet . I can picture this creating a judgewar, all the moar reason to sub plz.

I finally completed this game the other week, so I enjoyed this even more then I would have. FF8 needs more remixes, a very enjoyable soundtrack if a little short. Boom-tiss with class. gg Heath.

Yeah I know the progression is there, its the lack of use of the melody I was commenting on, and the melody is the most important thing to be noticeable in a remix imo.

Liking the intro. Nice soundscapes as Rozo said. Beats are introduced well and fit the track. Haven't heard any direct source references so far, lots of subtle references though. Wtf tempo change, awesome. Hah, this is really taking off now. Hrm, it was over half-way before I heard a melody that I could definately associate with the source tune. This might be an issue with the judges imo. Its extremely liberal so far. Awesome guitar solo there . I must say, production wise, this is incredible. So many changes and transitions to different sounds pulled off well. In terms of interpretation we may have a problem, as its very liberal. The ending is also kinda meh, you could have done something similar to the intro instead of just switching off. Imo you should just go back over and add a few more direct takes from the source, especially in the first half, but thats just my opinion. Awesome stuff either way :3.
