  1. Too much of one thing and you're never gonna kepe the momentum up, Coop speaks the truth. Thats like expecting everyone to make a "This is whatever month" sig every month. Only a commited few would be bothered. It does make me wonder how the DoD is still going though, althouth that has a huge following.
  2. Me and Sixto both have accepted OCR songs (well... mine is to be posted, but its still accepted), do we need to audition as such?
  3. Captain Falcon's special: Super-Mega-Ultra-Falcon Punch? It's probably gonna be something gay like he runs you over in his racer, but I can dream.
  4. You gonna give a project teaser at otakon? That would be some major publicity.
  5. I've been wanting to do this for ages. It's always annoyed me that the BM version is way slower than the original cause they're too crap to play it, so I've been wanting to kick its arse for some time. Maybe sixto would like to join me .
  6. We want VGF back/Flik to do some more rap!
  7. I made a poest n shit. I'm no good at linking, but I did some, sorry if its a mess.
  8. I was playing this game when I found this, and was thinking how awesome the music is even though I've heard it a million times. I'm very much interested. Want some samples?
  9. Bah, that guitar is in dire need of redoing.
  10. Its getting better, but the drums are still not great. I think you misunderstood what I meant by variations. I meant variations in patterns. For example, at 1:23, you have this going on: K = kick, S = snare 1-----2-----3-----4--- K-K-S-K-K-K-S-K What I'm saying you need are a few slight changes to throw in every now and again, for instance: 1-----2-----3----4--- K-K-S-K---K-S-K (Damn auto-remove spaces feature made that far too hard to write out) Even something simple like that. People will be expecting a kick on 3, and when it doesn't come, its more interesting. Try to make up a few different patterns for each section. Make sure you spend some time listening to remixes, and at the drum parts, and try and recreate some beats that you like. Use your ear and try and get them as similar as possible. Also look up what EQ is, and some basics on how to use it.
  11. I'm just waiting for Captain Falcon to be announced. I won't be completely happy with this game unless that happens. He embodies the entire point of the game, which is to greatly piss off your friends.
  12. Nah I won't, i you don't know what a word means then you don't know. Go look them up, cause I can't explain it very easily.
  13. Well, the kick is ok, its loud enough and bassy enough. The velocities on it are a little weird, they seem to get quieter as it goes on. The snare drum isn't good, its got no depth, no power. This is partly due to the sample, but that doesn't mean its hopeless. You should try playing around with EQ and get it sounding as fat as the kick. Concentrate mostly on the middle and higher frequencies until you start hearing a change. The high hats are poorly written. You've got to keep them playing all through the bar, or not have them at all. You'll never hear a drummer play that sparsly. Try adding 8 hits every bar, and make sure the offbeat hits are much lower in velocity, which will sound much more natural. Also, try to vary up the patterns, write 3 or 4 variations for each section, and some cool fills like the one you have work wonders for your drum part. Boring drums are often a reason for rejection, though JJT might correct me on that .
  14. If you're so offended by people commenting on your work honestly, thats your own fault for asking. This isn't about instantly being amazing at music, that would be a stupid reason to criticize people. The issue here is that you say you can't tell whats wrong with your music, and if you can't hear it, then we can't help you. If you'd have come in saying "omg so-and-so's drums sound great, how can I make mine sound like that", then we can help. Take a random OCReMix thats somewhat similar to your aims, listen to it critically, very closely, and compare it to yours. If you can tell us the difference in terms of production, and why you think yours wouldn't be accepted in relation to it, then you're not lost. Some people just naturally don't have a good ear, regardless of music training. That doesn't mean to say its impossible to make music, it just means it will be much harder for you to improve. I have friends who told me all my stuff was great ages ago, and I believed them. Looking back, that stuff sucked, it sounded terrible, but they still can't tell too much difference. There's a difference between listening, and listening critically, you just have to learn to do it I guess, and thats not something we can help you to do. Trust me, you get better at it over time, but it can take years for some people, and days for others.
  15. If everyone could please read the thread I've posted in the WIPs section, especially if you haven't met the deadline yet, that would be nice.
  16. I'm not sure you've realised this, so I'm just gonna tell you right now just to make sure you know: This will never be an Official OCR Remix project, and it will not be featured or associated by the staff if it was completed. This is simply because it is far too reliant on non-VGM sources to have anything to do with the mission statement of the site, which is about spot-lighting the talent of VGM composers, not spot-lighting rammstein. Bluntly put, this isn't really the place to be running this project.
  17. Yeah, the website has banned all new accounts because the admins got bored banning annoying spambots/annoying noobs and people of a generally annoying nature. If you want to show someone a wip, PM the prophet or the damned.
  18. You didn't tell us you were a ninja!? We have ninja's pimping the OCR T-Shirts XD.
  19. Well, FF8 he was alluded to in a way. FF9 was a bit ridiculous, you just have a nice chat with him to clear things up first. FF12 was half awesome, and half WTF this is ridiculous. I mean ok, nethicite makes you superman, but they may have overdone the muscles somewhat. Cid didn't exactly turn into the hulk. I definately wouldn't call the final boss underwhelming. I thought I had a pretty strong team, I beat both Gilgemesh fights and he was still pretty tough when he had his buffs on.
  20. Oh noes, you died! I know, take this unlimited supply of auto-life. There you go, much better.
  21. Yes thats cheesy ass, but I don't think he's using it as a selling point for his own personal gain. He's right in saying thats a very low CD price considering its all covers. If he was trying to make money he wouldn't be doing it like this. It sounds more like its EA trying to use him to make money.
  22. Awesome. I guess I'll run around and get the lowdown on all the projects going on, because theres so many to keep track of.
  23. Need anything from the point of view of a total project-whore?
  24. I like a challenge too, but having the patiance to train up isn't a challenge. Figuring out hard puzzles or trying to beat MGS2 on european extreme is a challenge; level grinding is a chore :S. I personally play FF games because I enjoy them. I enjoy the feel, the look, the music and getting through the story; I've never played them for the challenge. I mean sure, throw in the odd hard boss to throw the casual player off gaurd, but I think they're getting the idea now. Save the really hard to beat stuff for OPTIONAL bosses and side-quests.
