Make a new sequencer track and attach it to the mixer, then you can automate everything on it. Took me a whilte to figure that out too.

Rofl, I'll be honest, I totally missed the MIDI rip implications. Dude, what the crap? You think everyone uses MIDIs to make a ReMix, and even that we go so far a re-using a MIDI for several tracks on the same project? We have entire tracks that are done with live instruments ffs, projects aren't about how quickly you can churn out rips.
-
You say that, but it never goes exactly to plan. We are doing pretty darn well considering the number of dropouts so far.
-
Well that is totally different style from aj's one, it wouldn't be a problem unless they were in the same style. Also aluminum has totally minor'd stuff up, so they won't sound anything like each other.

A pox on thee.

Dia Dia Esuna, Final Fantasy I, Matoya's Theme
Fishy replied to retroactive's topic in Post Your Game ReMixes!
Hrm... I'm not sure this is solid enough production wise. Have you considered asking a judge directly what they think of it, because this is pretty bordeline if you ask me. It's definately getting there. -
I will voet: Shadow of the Colossus -- HELL YES One of the most beautiful first play games ever made, replay value not so high, but then again, its just so fun even just to ride around on the horse and take in the scenery and music. A bit depressing, but in a great way. Mario Party 5 -- NO Me and my mates always trash these games a lot, but no can deny that it can be hilarious to play against your mates. I don't think its a must have, I think its a should play a game form this series at least once at some point in time. Resident Evil 4 -- NO It's cool, but I played at least half of it at my friends house, got really quiet far, and I didn't want to borrow it, buy it to play at home or even ask to play it again to get any further on my save, thus for me it isn't a muse have.

When Does a Remix Become an Original

There's a good quote to describe this, though I forget who said it: The secret to creativity is knowing how to hide your sources. -

Go into your fruity loops folder, there should be a folder with called samples. Just put the set of samples in their own folder in there, and when you open up fruity loops after they should appear in the library on the left hand side. Tauce linked you to some soundfonts, which need to be opened in the fruityloops soundfont player, so you can put them anywhere. You need to find the programs to extract them first though, I can't remember what they were called. -

Erm... it sounds like you don't know what a sample is. A sample is just an audio file, usually in wav format. You don't install them. Do you mean load them up into your program? What program do you use? -
Sup JJ, come up with anything WIPular yet?

Dia Dia Esuna, Final Fantasy I, Matoya's Theme
Fishy replied to retroactive's topic in Post Your Game ReMixes!
Arrangement is pretty cool, i like rhythmic changes in the melody towards the end. Production is a bit hit and miss, in places its nice, and in others it isn't. Stuff like those crashes are a bit exposed, they sound really uncomfortable. At 0:57 you have bass parts playing chords, this never usually works out well, it just muddies things up. That lead sound is a bit annoying, but I agree it works better at the end. Also, if you're going to submit it, use a better host. -
http://www.sgxmusic.com/tutorials.htm Sgx has kindly put a few on his site. The ICO one is particularly interesting because its all using default samples and made up synths, no extras at all.

I got the chiptune set from http://www.hcs64.com/usf/ recently and I stunned at the amount of detail this amazing soundtrack has. They certainly weren't stingy on writing, with loads of variations for different areas, top stuff. I don't remember appreciating the music as much as I do now. The one in particular I'd love to hear is Treasure Trove Cove. The theme itself is great fun and it has this cool modulation cycle for transitions, which makes it prime for intepretation, which is why I'm kinda bummed that I've had no luck myself with it. I really think someone could come up with some gold for this.

Well, I was just wondering what chris meant by other instruments, like the steel drum reggae stuff . I'm a sucker for barbershop quartets aswell. Not everyone likes the judging aspect at OCR, but it does make sure that most all of what we get is quality stuff, and I think it shows. If you guys aren't really into to electronica, do a search for "goat" or "sixto", they're probably right up your alley.
-
Ah shame, accordians are great. So what other stuff can you guys play apart from the usual band stuff then? Anything weird?
-
How can you not vote for the band, they have an awesome accordian player.
