Anybody know anything about electric drum sets?
SenPi replied to SenPi's topic in Music Composition & Production
Ahh yea, that link is exactly the one I saw. My mistake . I want to see a DXPIVSP so I can see what its really like . Maybe one of the other stored around here might have em. Edit: Ahh ok I see the difference now with the toms. But I liked how the hihat/cymbals felt when I played it. Well, does the DXPIVSP come with a bass pedal, or would I have to buy that myself? and by bass pedal you mean, the pedal and not the pad right? If this is true, I might spring a bit more to get the DXPIVSP and a pedal. Edit2: Hmm.. Id really like to see some specification/pictures of the drum module itself, I want to see what kinds of connections it has on the back. Also, what is this "Choose Free Gear" Business on this massmusic site? -

Hmm I'll have to look in to that one. On a similar note, last night I went to a local music store to try out a few sets. First I gotta get something straight here though. The DXPIV you linked me. That comes with the drum module, all those pads, and the stands and stuff right? IF not, then this makes more sense, because I could swear I saw something exactly like the DXPIVSP setupt at my local shop here and it was like $3700. So either those links are just for the module, or buying them at that store is WAY cheeper than at my store . I also got to try out a snare pad with a mesh head. I think I like the rubber pads better . -

You hit the nail right on the head . That is definitely the most important thing for me right now. If I do want even better stuff in the future, I can just wait. I'll definitely be able to buy better stuff if I want to next fall anyways . -
heh damn man. I remember when I got 1 great on Healing Vision Angelic.. I dont think ive played it since . It was somewhere in the end I think. Also, BardicKnowledge is very wrong. on DDR Extreme, you have a choice as to what you extra stage is. On 6th mix it had to be Max 300, on 7th it had to be MaxX Unlimited, but on extreme you can choose what you want. Anyways, I dug out a picture from a little while ago. My first AAA game . (note I failed Extra stage on purpose as to not mess up my perfect game)

You know, I remember there was that post, but for some reason I thought it meant something else . Anyways, I think I'll let my budget go up to 1500, Basically I want a set that can at least replicate the variation of real drums. i.e. Hitting different places, getting different sound Velocity (hard soft) Hihat (open, half open etc) you know what I mean. Know any brands around that price range that would give me what I want. Oh, also, I dont really play drums. I rented a set last year, and I got somewhat good pretty quickly. So essentially I want these now so I can learn to play the drums, then one day I'll get a real set. Right now I want a moderately good set. Not too expensive, but not too cheep ass -
Anybody know anything about electric drum sets?
SenPi replied to SenPi's topic in Music Composition & Production
Well, I have a few reasons. 1. I would like to record on to my mixes with it. 2. My dad doesnt want the noise of drums. (Thus headphoned electric set would work perfectly). 3. If possible, I'd like to make/get some h4x to play drummania with them But mostly, its for learning how to play drums. Cant really get a real drumset, cause I wont be allowed to play it if my parents are home (and I dont get home from work, till like 6, so they will be there mostly every day after I get home). So yea, those are my reasons. One day, when I move out I'll get a real one, but I'd like an electric one for now . -
Alright, so within the next few months, I'm probably gonna buy myself an electric drum set. If anybody has any experience with them, and can lend some input that would be great. I'm not quite sure how much these things usually go for, so just naming anything right now would be nice. If possible, maybe some lower brands and some higher brands for comparison. Thanks

hmm.. well first off what is this Oxygen 8? is it some sort of midi keyboard? If so, check the master keyboard section of the preferences, and see if it is recognized. If not, then click auto detect and if that doesnt work, click on Add keyboard, choose other then choose that option where you can click on whatever device your trying to connect and it will detect it.. yea.. sorry I'm at work so I cant remember all the button names.

Hmm lets see. I dont know the source tune at all, so I'll have to base this on other stuff . I like the feel its got going so far. Very nice and mellow. I love this kind of music. mmm nice pads. That plucked thing panned to the right is... too panned to the right . It should be slightly more left if you want it panned. Hmm aside from that, very nice. If you post a link or something to the original, Id definitely listen to that and give this another listen

Choose Your Destiny - Megaman 4 Stage Select
SenPi replied to SenPi's topic in Post Your Game ReMixes!
haha, well the source tune is only like 8 bars long. Gotta fill it up with something right? -
So finally someone does a Ristar Remix (no mix)
SenPi replied to XTREEMMAK's topic in Post Your Game ReMixes!
Alright, listening. 1. Sounds pretty sweet in the beginning. I like the lead youve got going. Every once and again I hear a little... how do I put this. Like the bar drags on for an extra beat, that has nothing in it. Might wanna look at fixing that? unless its there for a reason. Ahh, nice change of styles. I like the drums alot. Though they seem to over power the instruments, or the instruments are just too quiet. Hmm now piano, sound pretty nice. Overall, I'd say work on your volumes. Heh, another interesting style change for a breakdown, nice. Overall, a nice mix youve got going. Work on those things I talked about, and I think it would sound awesome. 2. I like the ambience you have going here. Very nice. Cool vocals. I like the style youve got going here. haha.. for some reason it reminds me of something you would hear in Sim City 4 . I really like this. The jazzyness of it is awesome. Not much I can say about this one. Its pretty solid . Awesome stuff -

Hmm yea, I havent gone and done any specific editing which is why the piano is all too precise. Also, yea I dont have an ending yet, I could never figure out how to end this . Also, I cant seem to figure out good transitions this time . Just a note, the piano at the beginning is an arrangement of the source tune. Though it could use some more variation and velocity action . hehe, also as for the big sound. I dont use compressors.... like at all. Except for side chain compression. This crazy method I use, seems to work quite well. Not sure how I would explain it though . Thanks for the comments. I'll check yours out now -
So yea, full time work and all that jazz has been keeping me very busy lately (plus a bunch of other music projects that I wanna get done ) Anyways, I finally have another demo to show you guys. Some may or may not be familiar with one of my previous songs "Splash Beats!". Anyways, back then it was my very first attempt at happy hardcore, thus.. yea, it wasnt spectacular. (Even though I think its like my most popular song ) Anyways, I decided to come back and remix it. I think this version is more true to the Happy Hardcore Genre (though I might be wrong). (Even got some sweet hoover synth ) Basically, its a new twist, more upbeat, and alot cleaner. Enjoy , let me know what you think. Splash Beats! (Paradise Mix) [Demo] - DJ SymBiotiX

Alright, so initially I made some crazy remix for this song, for the mm4 remix project. The project kinda died, and I kinda never finished my mix. So I decided to start from scratch a few days ago. Ive incorporated a few of my older ideas, and some new ideas, but I'm kinda stuck again . Anyways, let me know what you guys think of it so far, let me know what I can improve, and if you have any ideas, let me hear them DJ SymBiotiX - Choose Your Destiny v2

Maybe there could be some sort of post creteria? Like, ive been here for a while and I'd really like to post a remix contest in C dis, but I cant because I havent had a remix accepted. So I would be in the grey area I suppose. but then again.. this might cause people to spam just to get their post count up? I dunno, all I know is I'd like to post something up in there

So, I finally got around to restarting my submission, and I realized I really didnt like what I had. So I somehow went a completely new route. I dont have much so far, so remember its an early draft, but I think this is turning out very interesting Again ANY and all comments and criticism appreciated DJ SymBiotiX - Choose Your Destiny lol.. this project will get done one day

hmm.. when they say that vst's will create instability, are you assuming instability because of the support or instability of the vst in question. From what I assume, they would be able to create vst support easily, the whole "becoming unstable" thing is directed at the mounds of vst's out there already. Alot of them can be unstable in themselves and cause programs to crash, thus loosing work, thus corrupting things, etc. Also, vst's out there could be massively CPU intensive thus if it were to be used in reason, then reason wouldnt be very cpu friendly would it? Think about it this way. Lets say a vst is like a hardware driver. Do wou want to use some random guys gfx card driver, over the ones that were made for the product itself? I know I wouldnt. -

I'm confused, I dont see whats so hard about the vector automation. I find its about 100% quicker to vector automate, then with those steps. Plus its alot smoother. You want to automate a volume from min to max, just place a dot on the bottom left, place a dot on the top right, and your off to town. if ANYTHING the one thing I dont like is that they got rid of the line tool (unless I'm blind). I used that to do my velocities when I Wanted to do a fill, so it would smoothly go up, but now I need to do that somewhat manually. Thats about the only thing I dont like so far. at first I didnt quite like the new sequencer, but afer a few days, I'm back to the same speed I could use the old one. I personally find it quite a bit better. weird... -
well I dont have ALL the info and all that, but check out http://www.pidelipom.com/boyscout/ Its a GBA soundchip emulator. Its basically a little tracker program for making GBA music. It can make the files necessary to run the song on a GBA rom if you so choose to make it for actual games.
