  1. Generally, movie soundtrack don't catch my ear as much as videogame music. But there are a few movies which featured some kick-ass music...and I'm not talking about only the licenced stuff. Sure, getting popular bands' music in a movie is essential to some, but I'd rather listen to original compositions and original band tracks made especially for the movie. Back to the Future Trilogy has awesome soundtracks. Three of the very few movies in which its music jumps up and grabs you. Another Trilogy with some pretty epic music is Lord of the Rings. The main theme just doesn't get out of your head. Also, Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children has one hell of a soundtrack. Fans can relate to it more since it contains remixes of FF7 music. Still though, like Back to the Future, the music of this movie is exceptionally good. The Man Who Framed Roger Rabbit had some catchy music, too. And last but not least, Requiem for a Dream. Man, the music in this movie is so fucking excellent. Combines lots of styles, very moody and moving. I honestly can't imagine this movie without its soundtrack. The main theme is especially very cool. After all, it's been featured in a lot of other movies and trailers other than Requiem. That alone says something.
  2. The guitar solo in Metallica's "Master of Puppets" Enough said...
  3. Thinking of doing something vocal for this... BTW, hilarious commercial.
  4. Love the update here. Everything sounds more polished. Cool drum intro. Nice piano there. Glad you made the vocals more choir-like. I also liked that added vocal part in the end. Sounds very ethnic and authentic. No complaints from my end. Good luck in completing this!
  5. Interesting. Never knew that tea did that. Anyway, really cool advice, people. This thread kicks ass.

  7. Again, very nice work, man. Hopefully this gets a direct post.
  8. "Bad request. The link you followed is incorrect or outdated" That's what I get when I click on the link... Also, are there any specific rules to this other than the theme? Where do we send our remixes to?
  9. Excellent work there, Sixto. You managed to give me a "blast from the past" moment with your 80s rock feel and the arrangement of the track itself. I can hear some reverb like you mentioned, but I'm not the guy to ask if it's too much. It doesn't annoy me, though. Love that guitar solo mid-track...that melted my face off! I also love that ambient part towards the end, and that build-up after it. My only criticism is the intro. The track just starts all of a sudden, and it almost feels like it's continued from a previous track...you know what I mean? Would be cool if there was some sort of build up to the main riff...
  10. Guys, google "Endless Crisis". Rumors are starting to pop up of this new subtitle...Endless Crisis: Final Fantasy VII...to be shown for the PS3 at TGS. New game or remake? I'm going for both...remade to a point where it feels new...
  11. I've been hearing and reading in various media sites and podcasts that Famitsu reported more about the FF7 Remake. Stuff like being produced by SCEI to ensure exclusivity. Hopefully these internet ramblings are true.
  12. I won't lie; the scene was very emotional to me as I did not see it coming. I almost cried. Back then I was new to the whole RPG genre. The only RPGs I played before FF7 were FF6 and Super Mario RPG. Unless you count Zelda as an RPG...
  13. Well...TGS is coming soon so if they don't announce it at that event, then we'll know that the remake is pretty far off. I'm pretty sure that SCEI are pushing for this, too. After all, they did produce Final Fantasy VII along with Square.
  14. The bonus video ending of Crisis Core. Don't worry, it's not a spoiler for the game because most of you know what this video contains. It's basically the PS3 "tech demo" video of FFVII's intro, modified with a few extra effects and a new scene. My question is; why would they even bother doing so if a remake isn't coming? Square-Enix recently denied working on it, but I think they're just keeping us fans in the dark so they can get the green light in their pace without pressure. Now, all we need is a custom music option in the remake so I can put Voices of the Lifestream in while playing the game in 2009.
  15. Very interesting. All this time I've been hearing the guitar sounds and I'm thinking, "this has to be Zircon". Looks like BGC has a couple of tricks up his sleeve. Anyways, this track has officially climbed up to one of my favorites of this album. I'll say it again; incredibly catchy.
  16. I can't get that track out of my head. It's incredibly catchy. I'm assuming that Zircon contributed all the incredibly cool synth guitar sounds while BGC did the arrangement. Larry's spoken lyrics, while short, really adds something to the track. I don't care if people think it's cheesy. "If I had known that this was coming, I would've done things d-d-d-d-ifferently!"
  17. Man...just listened to the album. I'm speechless. Indeed, there's something for everyone here. Some of the best stuff I've listened to in a long while are in this album. Excellent work, everyone. The coolest thing about this album is that each and every track has its own "thing" going on. From Black Wing Metamorphosis awesome blend of styles and genres to Liontamer's robotic spoken vocals in Adrenalyne Kyck (that especially grew on me), you're going to appreciate how unique each track sounds. My personal favorites so far: Materia Junkie, Short Skirts, Collision, Every Story Begins with a Name, Serenety, Full Frontal Assault, Damn Those Turks, Adrenalyne Kyck, Black Wing Metamorphosis, Beginning of the End, and Lunatic Moon. Expect a full fledged review from me soon.
  18. I'm a huge fan of Uematsu, Final Fantasy VII, and videogame music. Even though FF7's soundtrack isn't Uematsu's best work, I still have a special place in my heart for some of its tracks. With that being said, I've been excited about this project ever since I heard of it on VGDJ (a video recording of one of the panels). I'm downloading the torrent now. Once I give it a good listen, expect a detailed review from me.
  19. http://www.ocremix.org/forums/showthread.php?t=4993&highlight=VOCR First competition, for nostalgic purposes. I can't find the 2nd competition. Looks like the thread got deleted or something...
  20. http://music.ign.com/articles/818/818220p1.html Excellent. Just what I need since I haven't attended VGL and it looks like I won't anytime soon. I'm going to get this. October 19.
  21. Aw. Better late than never, though. This seems more of a 'technical difficulty' thing rather than 'tweaking the bugs' if there are any.
  22. I've got to admit, this is extremely catchy. Personally, I think that the cheesiness of the lyrics really suits the music and adds to the appeal. This remix immediately reminded me of the 80s cartoons theme songs, like Silver Hawks, Transformers, and TMNT...only much cooler due to the composition of this remix. As for the singing, while you don't have a huge vocal range, there's something about your voice that's cool. It also has this 80s-ish feel to it. Reminds me of some of those Daft Punk vocals, too. Keep it up, Cerrax. You can keep doing retakes of the lyrics until you get it just right. I like the whole "theme song" style of the writing and singing, though. So keep it.
  23. I got a couple of my previous works lying around. Let me know if you want to listen to something new from me, more like an "audition" of some sort. http://dod.vgmix.com/past/dec06/Luiza-Chrono-Dimensional-DoD.mp3 From the Dwelling of Duels competition. Obviously, LuIzA did the track while I contributed to some of the singing parts. From 3:18 to 4:06 my voice is mixed with other vocal guests. From 4:12 to 5:20 are my solo parts. http://www.esnips.com/web/excaliber39sOtherStuff?docsPage=1#files Here are all the other stuff I did. It descends from recent to oldest. I'm not sure about the performance, but the recent two tracks in the list (Believe in Myself and Town Life) have the best recoding quality. I suggest you listen to the first four. The 2nd page has my old work which really sucks.
