  1. So...1:29? I think that says it all about this song. There are a few other things that stand out, such as the samples, as well as the low volume of the...woodwind? compared to the rest of the song.
  2. I've always disliked this one, due to the production and just the approach the arrangement takes in reinterpreting a frantic orchestrated boss song as a slow rambling song. Production really hurts this though and makes it hard to even get to potentially appreciate the arrangement, since the samples and poor relative volume levels kills a desire to delve further. The arrangement actually isn't too bad, although it could be expanded somewhat. There's some creativity there, but it's hard to tell again because of the production issues.
  3. Yeah but considering some of the things mentioned, such as shows (easily cost ~$100 per person per show), strip club, gambling, flights (for some) etc. - easily dwarfs hotel room costs. I already did rough budgeting, and hotel rooming is potentially 1/5th (being overly generous in possible stuff I might be spending on, especially gambling) of what I'm setting aside as expenditures. Also it's not like I'd not be getting a deal, as I get a free room upgrade amongst other things that add up to $450+. In short, I think it's pretty dumb to not pay that extra for comfort, or at the very least display that level of absurdity that Neko is .
  4. If you can't handle $50-60 per night after splitting with others, you have no business being in Vegas.
  5. Sixto expressed some interest in potentially joining in so we could split 4 ways! Is there any particular preference about hotels? I'm in IRC if Vinnie or you want to talk about when and how many days is there interest for, as well as hotel.
  6. So just so everyone knows the Cirque du Soleil options, here's all of the shows in Vegas: http://www.cirquedusoleil.com/lasvegas/en/home/index.asp?icid=dropdown/Las%20Vegas Just so people are aware - it looks like there are group discounts available. We should plan the show itinerary ahead of time so we can get the best deals!
  7. I also think the 18 - 20 crowd should be noted on the list of people attending so we have a good idea of the numbers to expect.
  8. Car rental isn't that expensive is it? I'm sure it'd be possible to get people to chip in. Incidentally, my AMEX card gives me automatic auto insurance on rental cars, although I might have to be eligible to drive for me to help out in that way.
  9. A note to some of those not interested in some of the potential activities like strip clubs - I'm sure there are enough of us around that we can be doing other things if certain things are disagreeable to them. I'm a Christian, and a fairly religious one (same goes to Jade and Jordan that I know of at the least) so I'd probably be up for doing something else during some times - I will be gambling some I know, but I'm sure we can all find things agreeable to do and make thing work out, so don't let those types of concerns keep you away from a fun time!
  10. I want to go to all of the Cirque du Soleil Shows . Soooo exciting! There's O, Zumanity, Ka, Love, and Viva Elvis!
  11. I got a new one for $15 a month ago
  12. Well, I'm thinking of booking rooms in the next week or so - if you and Vinnie want, I'd be willing to split a room 50/50 (half for both of you two, half for me) if you want to make things doable. Granted, it'll possibly be cheaper to find a room without me, as I'm shopping around on American Express - I'm thinking of August 12 - 19th for me. If you're up for it and agree on the room to search for, I'm all up for it!
  13. Oh I should also mention - I probably will prefer to stay in a hotel - I'd like the comfort of being in a nice room, bed...plus I may also get some special benefits (I'll have to look into it in detail). Can someone break down the Vegas hotel casinos in terms of niceness?
  14. Blind Guardian also did a cover of the Mike Oldfield song "To France"
  15. Can't say I'll be able to go to Mexico, but I can definitely be there for the planned week in Vegas. Edit: Also, do we make this 21+?
  16. It's tempting because it's a Saturday but...too close to finals for me I think .
  17. Ahh Celes, such a favorite amongst many with FF6. This song evokes more of the sensitive side of the original, going more gentle approach early on and the eventual crescendo towards the end, which even then didn't ever feel very forceful. There is also some nice interplay going on here with the woodwinds and the strings, and later with the strings and brass. The gentle atmosphere maintained means that this song doesn't seem overly complex in a casual listen, but there's more to it than what initially meets the eye, which is some of the beauty here.
  18. I think it's one to one - one OCR person for a hero or boss track, and a Bad Dudes person for the other mirror track.
  19. Hm, this isn't something you see every day around here. Crazy experimental here, and I guess we wouldn't have it any other way from CotMM with the help of Beatdrop. What I see here is that the low end combined with the quirky lead melodies really building the foundation for the strangeness. There are lots of other little elements here and there that really help build on this as well, like the robotic sounding voice (not like metallic robot voice, but unnatural for normal speech type of voice) towards the end of the track. Definitely good work by this duo here!
  20. This is a pretty nice soothing song, but there was one thing that bothered me at the very end - that is a weird sequence to end the song. Other than that, pretty good job here! I love hearing Lofton play, as he tends to do a great job.
