  1. So another tease for you anxious listeners: http://ocremix.org/forums/showthread.php?p=625895#post625895 I apologize that we weren't able to get out the album for the year . Things are looking like they should definitely be 100% done next month though - we only have a few holdups left, so the odds are looking very good!
  2. Such an old mix - I remember when I first heard it, and I wasn't terribly impressed since the intro was a crappier version of the original. The more original interpretation also wasn't terribly impressive either, partly due to the bad production. It's good to see that JAXX has improved quite some since then though.
  3. The cheesy beginning reminds me of Mortal Kombat so much . One thing that's really killer for me though is the drums - definitely not feeling them very much, and the volume levels on some of the instruments definitely could use some adjusting. Production seems like an overall issue. Also, the song feels very disjointed with sudden shifts that don't quite work IMO. I guess it goes to show the changes the site has gone through in terms of overall musical quality and the evolution of artists in that time frame.
  4. I remember this - it always seemed like a coverish song with a vibe that makes me think of songs from Bond movies for some reason. It isn't terribly impressive, but I guess the general idea works.
  5. This has trademark Willrock written all over it - jazzy leading synth, and a backing that one might expect in a rock song. Not sure what else to say, but it works.
  6. A Mazedude mix, definitely something I look forward to! This mix goes along with his more recently quirky songs in stylistic approach. I can't really say much except that he does it again with a quirky haunting bumbling song and pulls it off successfully.
  7. Ok, I don't know the source, but this is pretty kickass - nice punkish flair to the song, and some of what seems to be a more ethnic flair as well. Definitely loving this a lot!
  8. You know, the Radical Dreamers project didn't grab my attention much on one listen, I should go back and listen to it. So this is a pretty nice rocking mix - it really has some grit and roughness to it that flows pretty well in giving it a ton of tension when combined with the background strings.
  9. Hey, a piano song! While it may not be as technical as some of the other ones on the site, this one definitely keeps my interest a lot more than a lot of them. The thing here is that it has a gentle feel to it, but doesn't rely on being too dainty and slow. Good work!
  10. Heh, halc with yet another song with a mix of chiptunes and other instruments. This is a pretty nice mix as expected though - it's a laid back song that develops things just right for the fairly minimalistic approach.
  11. bLiNd hotness...gotta love it! This is late, but happy anniversary Jordan & Jade! Now the mix itself - definitely is nice. There's more substance here than you see with a lot of other trance, yet maintaining the typical sound you expect with trance. What really stands out is Jordan's production though. It's just that good.
  12. Whoa - this is pretty unique stuff compared to Ziwtra's other songs on OCR, but then again, all of his stuff is unique. I guess I don't really expect a plodding laid back mix from him when compared to some of his prior work. What I find impressive about this song though is the stuff going on in the background - it's pretty obvious that a lot of attention to detail was made with all that is going on. Great job!
  13. Moderator? He's also our resident jdgfgt and ReMixer! Happy birthday Shariq!
  14. Another mix to continue the judges groove bias! This is pretty good stuff though - I think my only complaint here is at about 2:15, there's a weird transition before it quickly returns to the original funk. Otherwise, love the groove, and everything else about it.
  15. This is a pretty nice and trippy mix. I get the vibes of a solemn western from this song, not something I get to hear every day. I love everything about this!
  16. Just like Tony's other stuff, this mix doesn't fail to please. I don't know where to start with this - I think the big highlights are the guitar with that sweet tone, and the groovin' bass playing. For some reason this makes me think of a grooving version of some of Steve Vai's work. Just a great overall job!
  17. I have to be honest - I don't like improv generally. I also have a hard time recognizing anything that sounds like something from Secret of Evermore. There's a lot of proficiency on display here though, as one can expect from Shnab. At the very least, it's hard not to enjoy the skillful playing that he brings to the table, and with a large degree of coherency maintained in this 8 min piece.
  18. What the heck is with that intro? Definitely gets a no from me...and then it just basically is a song just started after. Not one of AmIEvil's shining achievements.
  19. Actually, figured out the missing person, so he/she will get his/her present too!
  20. I dunno - I'll leave you my cell # in a few days for you in case.
  21. If you can find me, I wouldn't mind it at all!
  22. So I think I messed up somehow...and Abadoss is slated to get two gifts. Whoever doesn't get their present, tell me - I'll send you one myself!
  23. Aw, my suit is in NY still. You can probably hitch a ride from Stevo.
