  1. The samples stick out as quite bleh, and when you think the mix is about to step it up, it ends. So disappointing that this mix is only 1:08, as it starts off promisingly.
  2. I'm not really familiar with the original source so I'm not sure how much is borrowed from that. There isn't much of a changeup from the main progression though, which really just makes this sound static in just droning on.
  3. The samples sound really dated - there's also not much going on here in terms of arrangement, and at 1:23, you really can't expect much overall.
  4. Ah, I remember this mix. My main complaint about it is that it's too short - with such a melody, there's ample room to make this much stronger. Some of the samples were weak too, but arrangement is what's really holding back this mix.
  5. The voice at around 25 seconds in threw me off - did it really need to be panned from left to right? The mix doesn't deviate terribly much from the loops - I would've liked to see some more changeup in the pacing or a diversion from the repetitive progression. And then...it ends without bringing more to the table.
  6. The volume levels need to be raised overall - it sounds too faint. This is a kinda nifty mix, but I felt more could've been done with it for as slowly as it progresses through the melody, especially with that extended ending.
  7. Samples could've been better...but this does start off with a nifty sound. I do wish it went through more development before going up a key, and the ending wasn't so abrupt/contrived.
  8. The electronic keyboard sound really doesn't mesh well with the drums - perhaps the drums should've been brought forward more, because as it is, the keyboard stands quite far out and drowning the drums for a weird sounding contrast. It also doesn't sound like it goes anywhere. Just a few loops and a cutoff ending. Definitely kinda bleh for me.
  9. Samples sound quite archaic, and the volume levels are too low in general. There's also quite some room for the song to be extended too. Maybe I would've liked it when I first found the site, but I don't really find this an attention grabber.
  10. This really sounds like a cookiecutter mix. Very little rearrangement, and basically no change from the original melody. There's little effort to develop it, and the production is poor. There's just about nothing appealing about this mix at all.
  11. I don't know, I can suck the big one sometimes too. Yesterday in a 3v3 I got destroyed as Magmus early game, and in a 5v5 I got destroyed when I was Swiftblade. I'm not all that skilled.
  12. Quite an interesting take on this song. Definitely like how it develops with its serenity & somehow fitting drums.
  13. Samples are terrible all around. It sounds a bit empty too, but part of that might be the samples. The main thrust of the mix could've started much earlier - it took more than 1:15 for something to develop. It also doesn't seem to really go places either, just maintaining the same steady and unchanging progress through the song. Overall this is kinda bleh to me.
  14. The fake guitar is . The ending kinda stinks too - it just stops in a fairly abrupt fashion, and feels really unnatural. Otherwise, I kinda like the direction despite not knowing the original source.
  15. The samples are kinda bleh in this song. The arrangement is fairly static as well...and with the bass heavy emphasis, I'm not a fan of the whole package.
  16. That's quite a lot of words to justify a purchase I don't think anyone was really claiming against for...although I'm going to have to express massive skepticism about whether it'd be a better purchase than BlazBlue.
  17. After they butchered Sam's quote...I don't think I want to click the link .
  18. Yeah, when I first played Soul Stealer I was thinking it had huge potential to be crazy. So much easy damage dealing and an agility hero to boot.
  19. Actually I think there's only 4 or 5 of us so far since people have found various other arrangements.
  20. You two are welcome to crash in my packed room - I take it Ash will need a bed though?
  21. Ah, one of the songs from the Radical Dreamers wave from before I visited the site. I'm not terribly high on this song - it sort of just relies on the power of the original melody without taking it further. Production-wise it hasn't aged terribly well either.
  22. Interesting style but its lack of variance is its downfall . There's so much room to carry this mix places and it just remains static arrangement-wise and ends.
  23. That one in particular is my alarm - nothing like waking up to Wasted Years . As for the video...I dunno, it didn't really hold my attention.
  24. Ah, an early JAXX mix. Unfortunately, this sounds like the original song with maybe an extra instrument and/or changed sample in the background - wasn't too hot on this way back then and I can't say I really appreciate it now either. It just sounds too close to the original.
