This is the one meant for children in Africa, right? If so, thank you for reminding me of the name. If not, someone correct me.

OverClocked ReMix Design ?'s and Issues
The Pezman replied to Liontamer's topic in Site Issues & Feedback
Yeah, I noticed that before but I forgot to mention it as I got caught up with questions about the new design. Here's another issue I forgot about: the search functions. It seems strange and redundant to have a search bar at the top (that searches remixes) as well as search functions along the side, especially since the top bar links to marginally related sites like Wikipedia and IMDB. Perhaps the top search function came standard with vBulletin and it's difficult/impossible to integrate and streamline it with the remix search bars, but if not I think it would be beneficial. -

Llama award, you say?

I was mistaken. A USB turntable is meant for digitizing vinyl. However, there is specially pressed vinyl meant for doing what I described, including Final Scratch and Traktor Scratch. I would be curious to hear about the CD turntables you use, Tweek. Do they move as well as the vinyl? Can you only jog CDs, or can it function as a controller for hard-disk based .wav files?

It's not an action shot. Our final stances end with our feet in the air. And blurry.

How many of you know music theory?
The Pezman replied to Cree`'s topic in Music Composition & Production
Man, I wish I had the time to take theory here in college. I took it in high school, and although the teacher was very good, he was only part time and I had not had a lot of prior musical experience. I definitely hope to revisit it someday, though. -
Speaking of advancing through ranks, here are some more belt test photos: Performing Heian Nidan. I'm on the far left. Me trying to get a hit in. Not of me, but... SWEAT-SLICKED BLURRY ACTION SHOT GO!!! And finally... Everyone advanced a belt level! +15 Str +8 Spd +30 HP + 12 Def

New list formats for games, remixes! (report issues here)
The Pezman replied to djpretzel's topic in Announcements
I was trolling through the new index and noticed that "Of" and "By" were unnecessarily capitalized: ReMix Of Parade Tune (Radical Rails) By Not substantial, I know, but still figured it was worth pointing out. How are icons assigned to games that appear on more than one platform? -
I seriously doubt that's what he meant. If you were that kind of person, then you'd be learning it for all the wrong reasons. Feel free to correct me RFB, but I think the confidence he's referring to is a confidence of being in your own skin. I've only been doing Chidokwan for a year and a half and already I've felt fitter and more balanced. My chiropractor notes that I'm not out of alignment as much, I know how to punch effectively, I can really turn my hips over put a lot of force behind an attack, and I can kick much higher than I ever could before. Does this mean I'm going to now seek a fight? Of course not. But now I know that I can get out of one if it ever happens, and I now know the power my body is capable of producing.

OverClocked ReMix Design ?'s and Issues

Bingo. Thanks AnSo. Glad you're amenable to the idea, Dave. Point taken about common code knowledge, but we'll see where my coding ventures take me... -
New list formats for games, remixes! (report issues here)
The Pezman replied to djpretzel's topic in Announcements
If you wanted the thread title to accurately and 100% reflect the changes you made, you probably should have said, "new list format for games, remixes, systems, composers!" I don't think it's fair to call me out on the title when you've actually done more than what it suggests. Because of this, I assumed this was meant to be site-wide and was trying to be helpful when pointing the inconsistencies out. I saw (and you mentioned earlier) that that the number is now locked at 50. Why is that? Personally, I prefer to navigate through pages as infrequently as possible, and I display as many forum posts per page as I can for that reason. I would definitely like to see 100 items per page, or at least still have the option to. When browsing systems, most of the systems are referred by their actual name, and not their abbreviations. For the most part, I am okay with the ones that are (like DOS, PC-FX and FM-7). But in the case of NES and SNES, I feel that you should have "(Super) Nintendo Entertainment System" or at least just "(Super) Nintendo." It seems strange to leave it in abbreviated form when Playstation and Playstation 2 are not. And, in speech, I hear it referred to as "Super Nintendo" more often than SNES. -

I had typed out a long list, but accidentally navigated away from it and lost it. When you browse by remixer, emulator or song, the results are displayed in the old format. I don't quite understand why you keep a list of emulators in the first place (it seems incongruous with the rest of the categories), but I figure I'd point this inconsistency out. Albums, too, should perhaps be more in line with the new system by having a system icon next to the picture or something. -
OverClocked ReMix Design ?'s and Issues
The Pezman replied to Liontamer's topic in Site Issues & Feedback
I've been wondering this... understandably you're very busy, and there are multiple programmers on this site. If there were functionality that people (including yourself) would like to see implemented but you don't have the time, would it be possible for someone else to take on the task and submit their code to you? Obviously it'd have to be tested, but this would allow more functionality to be added on a more frequent basis, and spread out the work. I ask because I'll be taking databases next semester and perhaps there could be a project here on which I could whet my chops. -
I mostly agree with RFB, but I want to stress it's not always absolute. For example, standard practice here at Dickinson is to advance a belt at the end of every semester. We meet twice a week for an hour each time. And rarely do people get held back. The first impression of most people might be that this is not an effective way to operate, but we have a very good teacher (over twenty years of teaching experience, and just advanced to fifth degree last year... from third) and very smart students (that's just owing to how choosy Dickinson can afford to be these days). So we learn and internalize a good deal of stuff. Plus, we review old material. And we have approval from the national Chidokwan school.

Had no idea such a thing ever occurred... can you remember the specific CDs for which this was the case? -
I find the most economic and practical solution is to invest in a scratching program (Serato and Traktor being the two biggest ones I know of) and then get a USB turntable. Then you can scratch all your music files.

I'd forgotten about this. Whether I'm there or not, I recommend the following: HarvestWorks is... well, read the bio. One member came to our school last year to do a presentation with Max/MSP. Perhaps stopping in to check things out wouldn't be a bad idea.
